Waving to all It's sunny & cold here this morning we've had frost and it's not melted off yet. H. is "on call" for work they did not finish yesterday. We've had breakfast left overs from dinner last night dd sent home with us yum! I froze the cherry pie I found one for h. deviled eggs were a hit and the relish plate things I took last night made a wonderful addition to the turkey sandwiches we had at dd's for dinner we were all glad we did not have to deal with another turkey dinner with all the trimmings! Keeping it simple worked. SIL was fishing yesterday w/out success.

I'm dressed the chickens have been fed. It's been a peaceful holiday here so far and hoping to keep it that way. We discussed driving to see the holiday lights at the park they light up this time of year.

Time for me to get on the ex. bike as bs was up a bit this morning. X
Yesterday after a store run went to the small local one I stopped by the library to drop off mags. and picked up some others to look through
that was fun. Kept a couple the rest went with us last night as dd enjoys them too.

You all knew it was going to happen... heck I knew it was going to happen but didn't want to admit it. After sweeping the MstrBR I carried on and swept the upstairs including the bathroom and stairs. I even got DS13 to declutter the landing at the bottom of the stairs.

The towels are done, not sure if they are any softer but I did see a ton more lint in Ernie's lint trap. Need to fold them and then put away all the linens, which will help get me started on the LR since that is where the hampers currently are sitting.

Twins' Mom, you need to copy that Mushroom Risotto recipe into our recipe section here.

Dd32's little family has driven away. They will stop at dfirstmil's to visit with some extended family who are here briefly. So that is good. I gave the boys Great-Grandmother-Hugging lessons (soft, quiet and easy).

DangerBoy read me a new book he'd never seen before about the Super Hero Squad rescuing a kidnapped Santa. That was fun. He has what my dmother would have called "good word-attack skills". I insisted on reading to him a more traditional Christmas book, too!

The boys enjoyed the chickens. They were impressed with little Fay bossing the big hens. (I am, too.) They can't understand why Sammie will sit instantly upon my command, but no matter how much they try to sound just like me, she won't do it for them. LOL. She herds little britches, which he takes well. WonderBoy is such a Grandpa's boy that he even gave HRH a kiss goodbye this time, very out of character for him.

My deviled eggs had been hits at our get-together too, Nancy. They are a great stand-by, aren't they? Ds, dstepson and dsonil all targeted them! I think it's time to decide the green bean cassarole is out, for our group. Dstepdil makes it faithfully and it is well prepared and attractive, it just doesn't get eaten.

Dd14 got a splinter in her foot and ds managed to get it out against all odds - whew, that could have been a lingering problem. I think she appreciated the attention from big brother, really. Ds is saying grace nowadays with such confidence, and I suppose that comes with the many fire dept events and the services they attend. We got a couple cute photos.

Yesterday we went to visit the cousin Kathryn will remember, who lives alone now. He and dsonil very much enjoyed chat about Reinactments. He shared part of his Christmas present to me and my family, War of 1812 records of my great-great-great-grandfather (he couldn't find any for his/our family but noticed a family name of mine). G-g-g-gf was interesting in that he served in that war, lived to begin receiving a soldier's pension, lost his pension during the Civil War (when you think about it, of course all pensioners in the southern states would have lost that), died at that time but left a widow, my g-g-g-grandmother. She was savvy enough (and probably destitute enough) to apply after the war to receive a widow's pension. She had to submit many papers and documents to do it, and all were recorded and saved, which made quite a "find" for a genealogist.

Good Morning, Villagers! Good Afternoon, for others!

DH and I watched boxing matches last night, then switched it over to SNL and the host (re-run) is someone we like and didn't get to bed until 12:45 a.m. I slept in.

My PODA:
- to do outlines
- fix meds for the week
- crochet on a beret
- read on my Nook, magazines and books. They must breed in the night!
- To keep my food journal ALL day and I did it yesterday.
- scrub 2 toilets

Last night I:
- scrubbed 1 toilet
- did a snail mail catch-up
- did a laundry catch-up
- wrote a letter to my 92-yr-old art teacher from 30 years ago. He'll be so surprised to get our card/letter!
- did my weekly calendar reminders

TA DA for today:
- Read my devotion, Novena, The Lord's Prayer, prayed and wrote in my journal
- Answered emaila
- Sent some nice forwards onto others

It's not sunny nor snowy here! It's plain old FOG!

Sorry I can't cuop posts like I should this morning, but my entire morning and day is running late.

Harriet - I am glad you had a good visit with the DgKids, and that best of all they are gone now... Can't wait till I am a Grandma (hopefully another 10 yrs or so) then I can send them home.

My DS's are now decluttering the LR, I have advised them that if I find their stuff when I get started I will throw it away.

Gonna look up a recipe for curry and then get moving.

I very much enjoyed cuop from the past couple of days. So much activity in your houses ...

Ivy ~ No, I don't have a Nook or Kindle. I read several blogs, which feels the same as using an E-reader. I borrow "real" books from the library or buy second hand.

Harmony ~ I'm thinking that even though your DGSons appeared to not care about doing the Christmas tree, I bet they really enjoyed the "traditional home" feel, even if it was subconscious. That's a great memory of time with Grandma Harmony.

Lucylee ~ Wreaths, afghan, snowmen, Santas, Christmas village, candles in the window ... I love your descriptions of your decorations!

Yesterday was a super social day so today I'm glad to stay home. The library group did a fund raiser at a book store. We were short of volunteers so I worked a double shift, over 6 hours. I enjoyed the people-watching and I don't have any problem making small talk with strangers ... but it is exhausting.

I ended up spending a long time this morning placing an online order. The site was really slow. The discounts and coupon will expire today, though, so I kept at it.

Still trying to think up gift ideas for DMom and DMIL, both of whom insist that they don't want any gifts.

Must do today:
* Proofread 2nd draft of newsletter and send back with comments
* Pull out all fabrics I've collected for the class I'm teaching at the December sewing group meeting, to calculate if I have enough
* Read magazine from library
* a little time on research project
* check Facebook for Tday photos

It's amazing how much I can get done when I'm avoiding writing for the temple newsletter.

Dh and I worked on the garage for awhile. I have some things that I allowed into the house for which I need to find homes now, and some things to move upstairs toward the day when I get it pulled together. Dh was actually able to move my car into the garage, for the first time since before we moved in. No room to go across the garage to his car, unfortunately, but we are making progress.

DD packed up and headed back to school, she was particularly sweet and huggy today. She took some of the mushroom risotto back for her supper. Harriet, I will put the risotto recipe into our files. I had to make a special trip to W F for the arborio rice but now will keep "in stock." Recipe used lots of broth, flavorful mushrooms - I used shitake - and a little parm. Not very much fat, although lots of carbs. Very filling winter dish - the recipe I wanted to try has butternut squash, so that will be my next try.

I need to work a few rounds now - dcleaning lady is coming tomorrow and I just moved all this "stuff" into my house. I'm getting to the point where I actually want company someday....

-clean up kitchen counters
-empty dishwasher, which I ran earlier
-Clear kitchen table
-move what needs to go upstairs to the bottom of the stairs

Don't think Christmas is going to be put up today, but hopefully I can get the LR in shape so that we can do it Wednesday. Got sidetracked on that last groove, starting melting down all the ends of the jar candles. Searched through my containers of craft stuff and found a big block of wax but no candle wicks. Gonna look-up online how to make some.

Need to get another groove done, I did manage to get my tabletop cleared off.

Done with that round. We're having leftovers for supper so I don't need to start cooking. Dh is watching Forrest Gump, I might sit down and watch some of that for a bit.

Next round:
-put away the Judaica things from a garage in the box - these were things that wouldn't fit in our display cabinet
-15 minutes of clearing DR table
-take stuff on stairs up to dd's room or playroom

I found an empty shelf in a cabinet that I had forgotten about, I can load it up with Judaica.

Hello Ladies,

Well so much for me trying to get on here daily.

Spent quite a bit of today sleeping (I suppose from all the wakefulness experienced lately). I've been working late and even went into the office yesterday for several hours, just trying to catch up with all my work.

Bought a new ironing board the other day - this was needed as my old one wasn't great anymore. The new one has a little more padding so should be great to use.

All loads of laundry were done, dried, folded and put away today.

Wanted to vacuum the bedroom, but since DH was asleep at the time, I've not done it yet. Will add to the list tomorrow.....it can wait one day

I did however, catch Bonnie Hunter on her quilt cam a little while ago. I've been busy with making hexies with scraps as they are portable and some can be made in a jiffy when I've a moment or two to snatch.

My DH bought me a kindle a few months ago and at the same time, I'd bought him a more modern GPS for use in the car with updated street names. Our old one was many years old and couldn't be updated anymore. The new one also has live traffic on it. I love my kindle even though I love to read "real" books. The kindle is great whilst travelling and making hexies in the car at the same time.
