Wonderful Wednesday

"Dreams seldom materialize on their own." Dian Fossey

Lucylee - Hoping you get some much need downtime soon. Happy Birthday DDad!

Books - I don't blame you for not wanting the books to come into your home. Hopefully you also will get some downtime soon.

WooHoo! I am off today! Although the call was mysterious in that the supervisor said I was not on the schedule and that she had been told to have me call either the CNO or Director of Staffing. Probably just confusion surrounding the orientee that I was supposed to be working with but she quit this last weekend. No big loss as she was turning out to be a serious problem child.

As you all know my last couple of days off have been so busy in and of themselves that I just needed some downtime, and I am dreaming of putting up Christmas. Little did I know last night when I called and requested to be called off that it would work so well with the quote I found. Going to try not to over book my day. May end up going in for a few hours this afternoon so that DP/BFF can get a few hours off (very small chance knowing her).

Good morning, Scattered. Trying to get a post done before I put my wrist brace back on. It's helpful but so hard to drive or type with it on.

Was thinking last night (and asked DSonIL) when did his Dr. send the referral to the neurosurgeon. If it was weeks ago, that's one thing, but if it was in the past 2 days, hmmmmm....... At any rate she had said a neurosurgeon wouldn't see him, but the surgeons office already had the papers describing his condition and want the DVD of the MRI to look at as well. He's wondering if he's still going to be able to get disability since the city told him yesterday that his date of "termination" was Nov. 3rd, not later in Nov. as they had told him a couple of weeks ago. It's all such a mess but I know (in faith) that it will all work out.

GD14 has early dismissal today (noon). Dsonil has offered to go get dh at dd's school & then go get her. But, I'm thinking I may pick her up and take her for a Happy Meal before I bring her home. Hoping we have the s kype set up for next Monday!

DH went to school with dd and will get as many finishing touches on the float as he can today. (Dsonil said last night, "I thought the PARENTS were supposed to help with the float this year". -well dh is a parent -at least of dd I guess.) Tomorrow will be the big push of getting everything ready and moving the float across the street to the L akeland Center. I will stay home and watch the parade on TV I think. Will pick dh up at the center after the float is moved into place. DD said they're #100 in the parade. I just can't go early enough to get a place to watch, sit there for a few hours and NOT find a bathroom. They draw at a meeting for their place in line. Nice when it's a low number! From the time the parade starts, it's probably over 1/2 an hour before the beginning even reaches us.

DD and her co-teacher have been given VIP passes to the Daytona 500 as part of their course teaching. This will allow them to go in the pits, meet drivers, etc, etc. Of course dsonil's first words were: "You're taking T right?" That was NOT the thing to say. I volunteered to watch her that day. Think we'll just go off for the day. He did keep her last Sunday while we went to church. First time in weeks. Sadly I understand some of it.

Finally got my church council minutes done and emailed off to the north. Don't think I've EVER had such a time doing minutes as this one!!

Good Morning!

I was up during the night with LO twice and still woke up this morning feeling fully rested. YES!

I made good progress yesterday with getting our home into shape. Still have a loooong way to go, but am pleased when I walk into the house that it looks clean and cared for. Hopefully today I can continue the effort. Once things are decluttered then pick up/put away is a breeze to do because there is a place for everything. That 50 gallon black plastic bag is my friend! As I find things that aren't used, I immediately put it into the bag never to re-evaluated again. When the black bag is full or heavy then it gets delivered to GWill. Hopefully those items will be useful and a blessing to someone else. My home is blessed by clearing out STUFF that isn't being used.

I'm eating breakfast and surfing and trying to decide whether try to decline to go to work today. Dh thinks I really should get there and I suppose I should. :?

I have made a list of questions for the meeting about dsis this afternoon.

I guess I should check with partner when she gets there at 8:30 to find out if client has gotten any info to us that we need to analyze before meeting. If so, I should get there mid-morning probably.

PODA
-walk dogs, a.m. routine this morning
-ck in at work
-work meeting
-meeting about dsis

I can fill in the blanks as the day progresses. I will probably have some time between the work meeting and the later meeting for errands as needed, so should get somewhat organized....

For right now:
-walk ddogs
-clear kitchen counters
-clear kitchen table
-get recycling out to street
-s2s

About 8:30 I'll call the office to see what gives.

Have done that round except for s2s. Talked to partner at work and I just need to be there an hour or so before meeting. I think now I may stay until 3 p.m. or so, and then I'll have the hours in when I take off tomorrow for dmom's dr visit.

-call to confirm dmom's dr appt
-order meds refills
-s2s
-make the bed

((scattered)

I started out the day with the hope of an excellent eating day, which often, for me, means eating in light ways and quantities. That was going to be fine on a long, early day for HRH and a long day for dd. Now HRH's plans have changed and he will be driving back in any time now. He mentioned several things he might cook here, all of which had the word "biscuits" in them somewhere  and he never bakes just a couple of those! I told him about my plans, so he's picking something up for himself on his way in. I hate to be a stick-in-the-mud but just because his day changes doesn't mean I should be tempted by an aromatic kitchen full of enough food for a lumberjack.

Now that he will be here for part of the day, I can S2S. I know that sounds odd, but with eldercare you don't S2S until there is someone else in the house.

I really gave the bank fellow an earful of my opinions today on the phone. Bank who bought out the previous bank, and which shall remain nameless but has a stagecoach on the logo. He was calling to say that as of today ( what? ) the bank had finished all the work on the combined account (my ddad had previously had two) and it was established. Good grief, this has taken forever (and the new checks and debit card came more than a week ago, both already used, lol, WHAT is he talking about). I could tell he expected to get off the phone quickly, but not so fast! I questioned him quite a bit about this - had the bank done some kind of sleuthing at the courthouse regarding this power of atty? Well.... no, they don't do that. Was there some other expert they had found to question? Well... ...no, they don't do that. So the authority they chose to seek out was the hard-of-hearing 94-year-old suffering with dementia who had already found it necessary to give power of atty to his daughter, and they called him for his expertise about the signed and notarized power of atty in their possession? Well... .. yes. And it took this long since that call. Yes. (Sigh. Ditsy.)

HRH got in and tells me he knew I didn't want biscuits so he brought me 2 bologna sandwiches. :|

Hmmm, my front foyer is a disaster area, hymn books and church music dumped all over the place as we scrambled to get out the door to various singing events, taking just what we needed, not the big heavy bag of everything.

I'm still in pjs. Bed is made. Didn't exercise. Worse, I had an egg, bacon, and raisin toast for breakfast instead of my normal, healthy, high fibre, low cal breakfast. I've also had 2 clementines so far today. They are fast disappearing (we are on our fourth box in 2.5 weeks but ds is living on them.)

The reason for unhealthy breakfast was that ds needed to eat before 9 and take his pills but he didn't get to sleep until the wee hours of the morning. So I had to wake him up and he was too tired to make a proper breakfast for himself.

<This sat without being posted because the phone rang and distracted me.>

The foyer is now cleaned up, as is the living room. I've also taken the box for dh's new 'frame drum' (a tambourine) and made a closure and handle for the box so it will be easier to carry when we go places. I've also put a layer of cloth between the jangles but it still doesn't quite them down to the point where they won't drive us to distraction while driving in the car.

I've brought up one box of Christmas decorations (most of my boxes are the size of a large wreath box, not large bins) and will empty that at some point today. Put up the creche my senior friend gave me, with the animals and shepherd but left the wise men and the holy family in the piano bench. They won't come out until much closer to Christmas.
