"I cannot give you the

but I can give you the
formula for failure -
which is:
Try to please everybody."
Herbert Bayard Swope
What can we find today?
time to do something put off?
a conga line of action?
a job tackled well?
follow the cards or a li$# as suits - best one can?
This is my one chance at this Friday, and what I find to fill it with will be my blessing today.

yield themselves up when taken little by little."

Finding Friday
Just begin.
Living this day, today
Take a reality check; Remember to breathe; Do what I am able to do.

Re: Finding Friday
My day so far.
I read way into the early morning - falling asleep with book and light on.
Woke to move 6 hrs after lights finally out.
Early morning rain softened the heat of recent days.
Tmeds then back to bed to finish last nights book.
JF again.
Suddenly remembered Yoga and hurried d2s and food to stomach.
Got to yoga to find instructor absent again. gym owner not impressed with lack of notice or replacement arranged.
Stopped at volunteer dist office on way home and found someone hassling with their sewing machine. We both tried ( between ph enquiries) to get bobin tension sorted. Another friend called in. An inspired moment of sewing machine owner got the bobbin thread to click into place. Success at last.
I showed them some basic needs - to neaten seams, how to gather a skirt. (I was surprised neither knew how to gather a skirt.) I scored the sample scrap piece I showed how to gather (a doll skirt/dress) and enough fabric to complete the item. Dgd will be lucky. At home I rang back with info to zigzag the knit top to woven gathered skirt - Had forgotten that at the time I was in the office. Not that I have sewn knit fabrics much - that was long ago.
It felt really good to relate to the others - and to know sewing steps from my long ago past that I take for granted. To be helpful helps me as a person too.
ate
pdoc - good session
home
What to do now.?
Its 5pm.
A little list for me
put away washing from yesterday
yard work.
walk dog
sweep or vac and mop
sew that little doll dress for dgd. And matching undies.
dish drainer
dinner
dishes
*shower and teeth
*Go to bed and go to sleep!!!!
One thing at a time. If I don't stray my focus - it will get done.
Aim - to have a go at all items on this list up to * by 9.30
Lights out before 12.30 AT THE LATEST - - yelled at me.

Re: Finding Friday
Hi Lynlee. I like your opening quotes. I'm glad you were able to help the other sewer with her machine and show them a few tips. I'll bet you're a good seamstress.
I'm just getting ready to go to bed myself. I've had a nice long chat with my dsis on Facebook. It's been a while since we last talked.
In the morning after breakfast dh and I are going to rearrange the furniture in the living room to get the Christmas tree set up. I'll be able to do the baseboards and sweep under where the furniture sits.
See you all later on.

Re: Finding Friday
Power was off here for an hour or so in the middle of the night. Of course when it came back on everything whizzed and buzzed, etc. Dh wondered what I was doing using the printer at 3 in the morning.
Foggy out this morning.
Hoping gd gets up soon -we have to leave in less than 30 minutes. Knew she would have a hard time as I went out at 10pm and she was still up on her ipad in the living room. The floor was completely littered with stuff she'd had for a school project and I asked her to please pick some of up before she went into bed.
Then her dad said something to the effect that he asked her to pick it up earlier. Then it started. She had all kinds of back talk. Informed him she was waiting for "Mom" -have no idea what time she finally got home. And of course gd doesn't want to get up this morning! The day is not starting well.
Have to go to church to work after I take gd to school. Coming back after work. Will take dh to I nterstate B attery to take back the batteries they loaned for the school float, along with a thank you note. From there I'll be taking dh over to dbil/dsil's to spend the night. They're packing food boxes for Sr Orphans at 8am. This way I can 'sleep' in tomorrow morning. Sure I'll be up -but at least I don't have to be out the door at 7:30.
Okay, guess it's time for me to go back in and prod gd again. Dh and I both have been in there 5 times now. Next will be her dad and that won't be pretty.

Re: Finding Friday
Good morning! I've been toodling around on this machine for the past 30 minutes, replied to an email message, grinned over the conversation my 3 kids are having on fb. . . . My dbro. joined in too.
I think I'm feeling. . .. . normal. .. today. I don't want to proclaim that too loudly and drive the feeling away. LOL!
In fact, I'm sort of itching to get some things done today. . I've had a mug of tea w/ a little milk and all seems well. . . . . .
Goals for today:
-progress on Cmas shopping; I seem to be doing it all online, which is so convenient for me. I've emailed some friends w/ questions and I need to hear back from them before I can proceed with their gifts.
-WW at 9:30
-Target; need to get gifts for our church's angel tree
-wrap the gifts and bring them to the church? May do this tomorrow. We are planning on going to our Detroit sister church on Sunday, so I won't be able to turn them in then.
-Korean store for bag of rice
-dh wants to meet for coffee
-laundry - towels; I'm revisiting this from yesterday
-living areas tidy
-play room tidy
-pick up something I forgot at groc. store yesterday
-pot of chili for dinner tonight
-downstairs bathroom clean -- dd17's girls Bible study group is meeting here after school today. 2? of the girls will be sleeping over. . . They will likely sleep in the play room, thus the need to get that part of the house tidy. It's not bad; one girl has bad allergies, so I always like to give the house a quick vacuum before she sets foot in it.
-dd14 to synch. swim 5:30 - 8:00
We are NOT going out to eat tonight as we usually do on a Friday night. We're going out to eat so much this week, I told dh I'd prefer to eat at home tonight. Dh and I went out Monday; date night with the girls was Wed., postponed from Tuesday b/c I was still quite sick on Tuesday. Dd14 and I just went to Panera so I could get some chicken noodle soup and Sprite. Tomorrow night, dh and I are going out with friends, a couple we know from our kids' schools. He is also in dh's dept,; they are both in ECE but he is in a different area than dh. Don't remember details. . . . He is also very musically talented.
It is after 8 -- past time for me to get moving.

Re: Finding Friday
I'm up.
Had my tea and chocolate. Said good morning to ds who is up, has eaten and has taken his meds, remembering to cut out one pill this morning. He had a lousy sleep last night (lots of night sweats.)
I also cleaned out one of my cupboards. This is a December chore each year (empty, clean, declutter, replace the contents of the kitchen cupboards.) It gets missed from time to time but they all get hit every 2 years at least. At this time of year I have to climb up to the high shelf to get down the Christmas glasses and winter kitchen decorations and baking tins so use the time with the step ladder to also clean out the cupboards. I have a little laminated drawing of my kitchen and as I do each cupboard, I mark it with a wipe-off marker so I don't do everything at once.
Most of the cupboards/drawers take 5 - 10 minutes to do so it is a chore I can do while waiting for potatoes to boil or some other thing like that.

Re: Finding Friday
Up and about here - ddogs had me up early; I'd like to go back to bed for a little while and walk them later in the morning. Trying to "treat" myself today.
Have left messages for social worker at dsis' hospital and for attorney today so I need to keep cell phone close today.
Nothing on the agenda today except for some errands later, and my company Christmas party tonight. We were going to neighbor's Christmas party tomorrow night but they have cancelled as her father is terminally ill. Ds, from Atlanta, has been in touch with dh and wants us to bring him appropriate clothing for a presentation on Monday; never mind that dh suggested he take appropriate clothing to school with him. He's gained a little weight so may need to shop - dh wants to go to ATL tomorrow to outfit and see him, so it may be that we will try to see dsis also.
Wrote this quite awhile ago and have been distracted...cleared and wiped down kitchen counters, changed a light bulb, and rep of builder came by to replace the light bulb under the microwave which burned out almost immediately.

Re: Finding Friday
You all have ruined me, I can no longer sleep in!!!
Thanks Lynlee for opening up this morning.
Helia - I'm glad you are feeling better
Twins- Treat yourself today, you deserve it.
Kathryn - Please give DS our wishes for his recovery, make sure you take care of yourself, not just because of your health concerns but because there is such a thing as caregiver stress/exhaustion.
Dee - I know you were up at 3 am... either that or your house elf
So, what is on my agenda for today, need to send out at least one resume. I have already answered an email from my Advisor come to find out how I can start full-time in January and have financial Aid cover it. The curriculum I wanted is not approved for financial Aid.
DS20 and I discussed last night that we want to get the LR in order and get the Tree up before DS13 gets home so that we can decorate before heading over to DP/BFF's for dinner.
Need to get a cuppa and get ready to get busy.
ToDo
d2s
Coffee
Send out Resume
Get DS20 up
Clean LR
Sweep/Mop LR
Set-up Tree
Decorate room

DP/BFF's for Dinner.
