Hello Dear Ladies,

Hmmm, three things of thriving. The sun is shining today! The house is warm from the woodstove in the morning, the wood was cut by Dsons. And my shoulder is feeling better.

DH's back is flaring up again. He thinks it is the weather, he was in and out a lot yesterday and by night time he could hardly walk. My shoulder felt better until being at work for awhile. It is very cold there. And my shoulder began to hurt a lot again. Have read where it says there is no scientific reason to hurt more during cold weather, but people just do.

Don't think I could live up north in the winter again, this little bits of cold weather really gets to me.

Been missing my Dmom a lot these days. I don't know if it is the holidays or just feeling bad. I sat at the kitchen table and the door to Dsons room was open. It used to be Dmom's room and they have changed it a lot. but I could look there and still remember her being there.

Giving myself the rest of this week with no exercises or walking, come Monday I am going for a walk.

Going to read awhile and then off to work.

Great day to all!

I don't think I am thriving, more like just surviving since the divorce. Still that is something to be thankful for.

Last night's board meeting of the animal org was successful but long. I did not get any cooking done last night and had to eat a TV dinner for lunch. Tonight, I am skipping art class in favor of cooking, especially since I need to cook some meat bought Monday before it goes bad. The maids came yesterday and my house is nice and clean, though the stove will be messy tonight! I am having problems with my insurance, but nothing insurmountable. I have found a way to get the foster cat out of the closet, just put food in the bowl! So now I will be feeding cats as soon as I get home rather than before I go to bed.

Tomorrow, I don't get to go to my crochet group because DD10 has a school event. This weekend is going to be absolutely crazy! Saturday, I am photographing for Santa Paws (get your pet's picture with Santa), then crochet group, then taking DD to River of Lights. Sunday, I have DD AND have to get the cats (3 of them) to a special adoption event and back. And church. I don't know how I will entertain DD Sunday, maybe a movie.

OKay: Congratulations on the new arrival! I do wish they had figured out she needed the C-section before she had to go through labor. She got the worst of both worlds!

Sadie, the "scientific reason" I think :) for hurting more in cold weather is muscles becoming tensed against the cold (for instance, hunching shoulders). This is why I run for sweaters and pull the bedspread up around my neck - I'll hurt the next day if I stay tense and cold! Might as well just INVITE the crick in the neck! In theory, it's not so much the temperature as whatever the drop in temperature has recently been, but that's nit-picky - it takes a LOT of time to get used to a temperature, and having been cold a long time is no guarantee it will affect you less.

There are studies that show that inflamed joints (arthritis) swell as the barometric pressure drops, as long as there is also high humidity. Then swelling irritates the nerves around the joints that sense pain, and that causes more stiffness. HOWEVER there are plenty of people in low humidity places who still suffer with arthritis! So that's not the whole picture. Anyway, tell dh to bundle up! Scarves are manly! :D

Reminded of mother - me too, lately. HRH and I were trying to remember which great-grands she got to see/know about and which she didn't, which of her grandchildren's degrees she got to know they earned and which she didn't. She also missed seeing HRH's diploma. I know what she would have done - clapped. She was big on clapping.

Harmony, just keep sewing, sewing, sewing. What do we do? We sew, sew, sew ... .... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... .... ... ... ... ... ... ...... .... ... ... ... ... ... ...... .... ... ... ... ... ... ...... .... ... ... ... ... ... ...... .... ... ... ... ... ... ...... .... ... ... ... ... ... ...... .... ... ... ... ... ... ...... .... ... ... ... ... ... ...... .... ... ... ... ... ... ...(extra stitching to help Harmony)

LisaB, how was dd's birthday celebration?

Cowinkie, is your headache eased?

Elizabeth, that only sounds like the most fun Saturday EVER. Your relationship with your child is thriving.

Hi Harriet...
None for the past few days. Tue I had two MRI's but won't know the results until Jan. Course if they found something really bad, the dr would let me know right away.

I was put on blood pressure meds last week. Last night was my first full dose and today I'm really draggin' My dr. told me this would happen. It should take me a few days to adjust. I'm looking forward to getting back to normal. Every morning I peek my eye open to see if I have a headache or not. So far so good.

Sadie...I know how you feel about your mom's bedroom. Several Thanksgiving's ago we had Sweeties stepmom over for dinner. She was 92 at the time. After we had finished eating, the guys got up from the table and went outside to do something. I was clearing the table while she drank her coffee. She was very short...just about 5'. She looked so tiny sitting there. She wasn't much of a talker, but loved to eat. She seemed so happy to be eating her pie and drinking her coffee. Less than a week later she was dead. Every now and again when I'm doing the dishes or cleaning the kitchen I catch myself looking over to place where she was sitting and I swear I can see her sitting there with a big smile across her face. It makes me feel good knowing that she had been so happy and content during the last few days of her life.

Gotta go....Mr. Guy and Norma are coming over and we are going out to eat Mexican...started laughing when I wrote this...I almost wrote...gonna to eat A Mexican :D

Okay - Congrats to the new parents and to you. Not sure that the changes are all for the best... I don't want to see bare pregnant bodies at the mall, but then again I am rather conservative.

Sadie - I agree with everything Harriet said the barometric pressure change is the biggest culprit.

Blessed - Hi ya, lots accomplished today. I am sure the poor employee really appreciates you being so understanding, you probably made her day.

Helia - flexibility is a great trait to have. I agree about our DK's, I was so impressed with DS13 staying after school last night not because he had to, but because he is looking ahead.

MT - I totally understand the sudden drop in energy... I wish I could sit and read a book.

(((Elizabeth))) - you are doing just fine. BTDT.

Harriet - could you send me some extra stitches to?

Cowinkie - I am so glad to hear your headaches are better. What a sweet thought of Stepmom, I sometimes feel like DGma is here smiling at me also. eat a Mexican.

Well I had a nap and woke up about 5 minutes before the alarm but now I really feel like a slug. I was bummed not to find a response from the employer, I will call her in the morning. Need to call DAun/BFF and update her, and then get my act in gear with the sewing. May end up doing TV dinners for dinner... I just have no energy.

Back home again.

Ds is cleared to go back to work. I paid for a second doctor's note saying that since there has been confusion at work and his shifts to the 31st were being cancelled. He can only work an 8 hour shift. That's his normal hospital shift but on the IT project, he's worked a lot longer. Doc says to avoid skiing until January. And warned him to keep as quiet as possible, so work is OK but not work and ski patrol or other events. He can't have his hep shots for a while (he's off to the Dominican Republic in the spring so should have his Hep vaccination.)

We then went down to the market town and picked up more groceries and a headlight bulbs for ds's car. Oh, and light bulbs for the piano light. Mailed the last of the Christmas cards to be mailed and picked up our mail. Will see the postmistress at the party tonight.

Dh just headed off for his dinner and I'll start mine in 8 minutes.

Scattered - when you get to be 72 (my age) you can sit and read a book, too. I did get some work done on the jigsaw, cutting out Christmas ornaments for my kids.

Warming up the bean soup I made a couple days ago. Put one container in the freezer for another day so we won't get tired of it. I can't seem to be able to make a small batch of soup.

The first of the rains have started as it is supposed to rain all night. Dark, dark clouds are hiding the mountains. Small puddles in the street. I'm hoping for a hard rain as I have never seen water in the ditch/wash. We have a system of ditches to drain the water from the park. There is the main ditch and then a smaller on that runs into it. The smaller one is called Son of a Ditch.

Good Afternoon-Evening, Villagers! :D

OKay, I'll pray for your Dniece and the baby.

My Ta Da:
1- I walked 35 minutes.
2- I played music, did stretches, and relaxed.
3- I decorated the great room and entry way.
4- I opened the blinds to let "bright grey" light in, but as the later afternoon came, the windows were letting in cool air, so closed them again.
5- I crocheted a lavender sweater dress trimmed in white with 2 pink buttons, for Baby Girl, (when she gets here.) and a lavender bonnet today.
6- I put paper airplane instructions on how to decorate them and make them, in an envelope with a letter and more stickers for the little ones. (These are 6 boys of Dson/Ddil).
7- I wrote a quick note to Dson/Ddil about the lavender Mary Jane's and flower headband will be in a future box because I ran out of room in the box and ran out of steam, too. :o
8- I folded and put away towels.
9- I took all yarn totes, buttons, patterns, thread, etc.... and put them all away. When I go to crochet again, I'll get out supplies for ONE project; not 50 million of them!

DH just mailed the box off. It has a 3-hour trip (if WE were driving, to get to their house.) We're expecting the box to arrive Sat or Mon. :D :D

I'm tired, achy, and I'm going to go rest. I've been busy all day.

Have a nice evening, Everybody! :D
BBL - maybe. :?:

Dinner is done. Since mine only needed heating in the oven, I used that time to get three garlands up and moved some of the empty boxes back into the basement storage room.

Off to change and then go out to the party. It is a short walk from here and this year, it is warm enough and dry enough to walk it. We've taken the car in years past when it has been well below 0*F or when it has been too much ice to walk safely.
