Re: JANUARY 1, 2013
I'm not being productive so I'm heading off to bed now. I've loaded my mp3 player with more copies of the Economist. Another one will arrive on Friday but for now, I'm only 3 issues behind instead of my usual 4.
The dishwasher is done and I've opened the door for things to air dry.
Dd gave me a mug (actually a Mother's Day gift that finally arrived) and I measured it because it seems large. It holds 2 cups so that means I only have to drink four cups from that to count as my water each day! I'm drinking hot water a lot now, so knowing how much I'm getting is an advantage. My regular mugs hold 12 oz each.

Re: JANUARY 1, 2013
Dfriend, the dh of friend who brought the chocolate mousse last night, is an endocrinologist who deals with obese people. He tells us that he tells his patients to eat less and move more. I don't think he advocates any sort of weight loss pill, but I can ask him next time I see him. Of course, since he is in endocrinology, there might be other issues and other meds involved. I'm pretty sure he tries to get his patients to journal about what they are eating, but some seem to have a hard time doing that. That is one thing I've found helpful about WW, just keeping track of what and how much I put in my mouth helps me to see the reality of what I'm eating.
I need to switch laundry again. I think the dw is done too.
We're going to light the tree tonight! We do candles on the tree -- Dutch tradition. Yes, we stay by the tree and keep a bucket of water nearby and we assign one person to keep an eye on the tree at all times. It is very pretty in a different way from lights.

Dneice just posted on FB that her water broke. Looks like we will be meeting new member of family tomorrow. Other DNeice is scheduled to be induced tomorrow (if she doesn't deliver before). So it looks like we will have 2 new family members in the next 24 hours (or so)
I just measured LO. He grew a whole inch in height last month!

OKay - and you wonder why they call you.
Holy Cow two DBabies in 24 hrs!
Kathryn - Holy cow all that food and you wonder why your not losing weight! It sounds great but try getting some baby carrots and celery, celery is negative calories.

Re: JANUARY 1, 2013
We had 8 1/2 inches of snow. Today was sunny, so dh shoveled the drive. I did laundry and started taking ornaments off of the upstairs tree. I hope to be done with everything by Thursday night. We'll see if I meet my goal.
As we were eating supper dd2 called and invited me to go to the movie with her, the 2 boys and dgd3, to see "Parental Guidance". So I went. I am waiting to hear that they are safe at home. She said the highway isn't snow packed but there are slick spots.

Happy New Year!
Enjoyed the Open House last evening. Met more of DH's coworkers. Ate good food and toured a beautiful house.
DH worked until noon today, then brought lunch home for us. I got in a 2-hour nap while he played video games. Tonight I made a creamy potato and ham soup for supper. Will be having that for lunch all week--plenty left over.
Gave myself a shorter haircut for the new year. I like it, DH doesn't, but I don't let him tell me how to wear my hair. After all, no matter what I do to it, it always grows back!
Started my 2013 Bible reading. With the new year beginning on a Tuesday, the reading today was Joshua, chapters 1-5. Hope this year will bring blessings to you all!

Re: JANUARY 1, 2013
Dd2 called to let me know they were home. Dgd16 had never opened our Christmas gifts. She was too sick to care until now. She had intended to wait until I could see her open them but I told dd2 to have her open them.
Dgd16 is doing pretty good. Of course, we thought the same thing after her surgery, so we are just praying she is on the road to a full recovery.
I decided to wash our supper dishes tonight and not leave them until morning. I just stacked them, since I didn't have time to wash them before the movie. I don't want to mess with the dishes in the morning. I want to really hit the ornament removal project.
Dd2 said her and the 4 younger kids were outside playing in the snow for 2 hours today.
Even though it was sunny, it was cold. She said that if dgd20 mos doesn't get to go out and play in the snow, too, she throws herself on the floor and cries. I never let my kids play out much in the snow because dd1 always had strep or tonsillitis and dd2 always had ear infections. One time and one time only they were both sick and dd1 had the ear infection and dd2 had the tonsillitis. Anyway both girls have made sure that their kids have/had the opportunity to play outside.

Re: JANUARY 1, 2013
Yes, lucylee, we really liked it. I got teary eyed several times towards the end. I love a movie that ends well.
Dh has been off for 4 days and we stayed up late each night. He was tired from shoveling, so he had no problem heading to bed earlier.
