Ivy - Congratulations on birth of DGBaby!

LO stuck with the Noodles for show-N-tell. He already had them in his backpack and he didn't want to stop playing to change them to something better. This morning I did use Harmony's "Nothing" suggestion to give a couple of LO classmates that didn't have something for show-n-tell. They were happily cupping their hands around "Nothing" so they could carry it into the classroom. One of the students said she brought her "Neck" as show-N-tell today. Smart girl! No prep needed. I guess "Nose" could have worked as well.....it seems so easy now. Why were we stumped last night?

Nancy - I agree. it is hard to remember who txt and who doesn't. When someone txt DH we are charged a fee (20 cents per txt). It is cheaper to pay the couple dollars a month for the 10-20 txt that he receives then to put him on a txt'ing plan. DH has never ever txt anyone and doesn't want to. If the cell phone carrier was asked they would probably put a txt block on the phone number so no txt are received.

Blessed - I use to fry chicken all the time (weekly), but have gotten lazy and now buy it at WM deli. When I cook chicken I don't use a thermometer but just eye-ball the oil. I keep the oil as hot as can be without it smoking and cook the chicken until the meat near the bone isn't pink (I cut a little slot in the biggest/thickest piece that is cooking so I can peek).

I've update SHE cards and added unnecessary but interesting (to me) info on average # of cards completed by month and by year. I am motivated by numbers to beat my previous best.

Okay thanks for that input. I hear about it when we get the bill from h.; I always tell him I did not they sent it to me. So I'll mention it to him.

I'm not sure why it bothers me when dsis does that texting about mom and when to call too; would any one here do that nag a sibling to call their mom for a bday? I guess I just thing it's rude or some thing.

I called mom today b/c I knew she would be gone tomorrow out of the house Sun. morning too. If I'd followed the instructions on the text would have missed her. Sigh

Now I'm moving on with my day bed is made. Chicken light is off sun is out now snow has stopped.

Nancy - why not just turn text off. All it takes is a call to your provider and they can turn it off. Then you will never get a text. I did that years ago when DH and I decided not to have that feature on our phones. It makes the kids call us instead of texting.

Good day so far. BS count was acceptable and I was able to box the stuff under the kitchen sink. That is because they are going to replace the sink and need to replace some of the pipes.

Next up is vacuum, sweep and scrub. TTFN

Hello dear ladies,

another day at home!

got up with the intention of going in but after a couple of hours I knew I couldn't go through 8 hours of work so called in again.

Dson-21 is the last of us to finally get sick, he called in too.

DH is concerned about finances with all of us being sick, but I said I don't want to think about it now, things will work out.

So looked like a day of napping, resting, reading.

to the adventures. Thanks for your prayers.

Hi, all! Congrats on the new babies!

We have texting blocked on our phones, too. Never had it , so we don't miss it.

blessed--I don't fry chicken either, sorry.

Could have run errands today, but nothing was urgent, so I have stayed home and made a big pot of potato/carrot soup and cornbread. Also made iced tea, which we drink year round. (Our Southern roots are showing, I know.)

Threw out my Christmas wreath. Spent some time moving lamps and accessories around the house. Have just puttered, really, but it has been so much fun! Today is my favorite kind of day.

I can't get going today and I haven't. I got dMacs to the vet earlier for his annual bloodwork, shots and exam and have napped. Feeling quite lazy and it's a toss up as to whether I want to try to get anything going or just get out my iPad and read for the afternoon.

In other news, I'm about to the point of purchasing a large corner desk/file cabinet combo for the bonus room for my crafty area. I've had a mish mash of desks and storage for my craft area and I've getting motivated to set it up and use again.

I just started a lol. I'm going to read for a bit and see where it takes me.

Bw2, when I've fried chicken, I have checked to see if done at the bone or thickest part w/o using a thermometer and don't recall any difficulty with it not getting cooked through. So long since I've done it, tho.

Boxed up another Christmas tub. Yesterday while shopping I happened upon some REALLY good deals. Plush sleeping pants reg price $34 marked down to $5. I also found matching shirts on 1/2 price so I bought several to give at Christmas. Since I've developed/implemented a new storage system, I'm confident these gifts will easily be stored and retrieved. I've updated my Christmas 2013 list with the gifts.

Lunch was left-overs. I always check with DH to make sure he is okay with that, but thankfully he is always eager to eat them.

I'm stumped with a situation. Need to call for legal advice. ....which is next up for me.

thanks d okay and d twins! I felt the oil temp was too high but it was the suggestion on the recipe, sometimes you do have to eye ball it and trust you know better.

ran a couple errands, dd older got her flu shot, ran to the bank (and cried... lol just kidding) also ran for misc. things on list at store.
it is always a joy to be here with you!

a.m. routine is done - finally. And it is sunny outside! :D And. . . . 55*! 8-) Kathryn, are you getting your warmer weather yet?

Yeah, I check meat cooked stovetop for doneness by cutting in the thickest part down to the bone if the meat has bone in it. I usually use a thermometer for meat roasted in the oven. Our new oven has a thermometer that plugs into the side of the oven and displays the temp of the meat digitally on the control panel. It is a very nice feature; we used it for our Cmas turkey.

Dh called and we're going to meet at the park to jog ab 4:15. The park is right across the street from the girls' school; that way, I can save a trip and go straight from my jog to picking up dd14.

Off to work on the piles on the desk.
