Re: Turbo Tuesday
I'm up and am s2slippers. Have to get the bed made (usually my first action) so I can go walk with dh. I really need to, if only for a short distance.
I've been struggling with M e d c o again for a couple of weeks for 2 prescriptions for dh. One is for his stomach meds which he now has to take twice a day and the other for a s p i r i v a inhaler. They had it under the wrong insurance number AGAIN! I thought that only happened with mine. Sure wish I could figure out just where that happens. Talked to a person there last Friday. Was going to call again today but maybe I won't have to. Dr. had dh taking a regular rescue inhaler (cheaper? -I don't think so it was $65 for the 1 inhaler). But it wasn't helping like the other maintenance one did. So he wrote the prescription for that over 2 weeks ago. Hopefully it's straightened and his pulmonologist can find a cheaper route when he sees him again in May.
DD went for a teacher conference with gd's teacher this morning. She has her eye surgery this afternoon. Tomorrow a gentleman is coming from the youth camp/ranch where they're trying to have her placed. She has to 'buy into' this program in order for her to be accepted. We'll see. If this doesn't pan out I think dd is going to have a nervous breakdown. She's just hanging on by a thread now. And of course the behavior and attitude are escalating all the time. Do all 14 1/2 year olds behave like they're 2 a good share of the time or is it just me? I don't remember this kind of behavior from any of our 5.

Re: Turbo Tuesday
Happy Birthday Ivy!
Good Morning!
During the night LO was sick to his stomach several times....as in cleaning floors in 3 rooms sick.
I hope this is just a little bug and not the hard flu that takes 3 weeks to get over. But I especially hope that he didn't give it to DParents yesterday when we visited them. He isn't running fever and is able to keep ice chips down now. Last night he couldn't even keep the prescription nausea med down so he is making progress.
Nothing is on the calendar today other than MPB receiving a shipment of supplies that will need to be met. I'm going to plan on a quiet day with as much time as LO will do spent in front of the TV watching cartoons. He did receive a new game yesterday (from his Mother) so he can spend some time playing it too. It is rated for 7+ years old because it requires reading. LO needs someone sitting with him while he plays the game to read the words out loud so he know what to do.
I'm thankful I made up several breakfast burritos yesterday. DH has his choice of breakfast muffins or burritos without any effort on my part today.

Re: Turbo Tuesday
It is not just you Dee! Sunday I talked eye-2-eye with DGS17 for over an hour trying to get him to grasp reality. I think some teenagers live in a world of their own making which doesn't reflect real life in the least. shaking my head......we can only hope they will grow up into responsible people sooner rather than later.Do all 14 1/2 year olds behave like they're 2 a good share of the time or is it just me?

Good morning! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO IVY!!
HELIA--When I first found this site, your family was in Australia, I remember!
Cooked up some good stock yesterday from the last of our Christmas ham bone (which had been frozen). Will have soup tonight from that. Think I will air the house out a little to get the ham smell out. LILAC and I have the same problem!
Got an Amber Alert last night on my phone. Didn't see it until hours later. Phone was sitting on the wooden stairs and I heard a weird rumbling, but didn't have any idea what the sound was. It was the phone vibrating! Reminded myself of my grandparents not knowing what the chirping sound was when their smoke alarm battery was low! They thought a cricket was in the house. Darn new-fangled inventions...
ELIZABETH--Hang in there. Raising children can bring you to your knees at times. You'll get through it.

Re: Turbo Tuesday
Dee -- it is partly her age. Y'all all know how I feel about my dmom -- well, I've told this before here -- dmom says when I was in 8th grade, every morning when I left for school, one, if not both, of us was crying.
She just mentioned that again the other night. Said there are just "too many hormones" in the house when you have a mother & daughter both having PMS at the same time.
And you know, when I tell people I teach 9th grade, they always say, "Bless your heart."
It IS a tough age.
OTOH -- your dgd has circumstances that make her situation much, much harder to deal with. I am sooo hopeful this new program will work out.
Turbo today??? Oh my goodness, I don't think so.
It IS much easier to get up, however, when one gets to sleep 2 hours later.
Kathryn, I will sincerely try to get exercise back into my daily routine. I know you are exactly right! Thanks for the push!

Re: Turbo Tuesday
That's not "saying it", that's taking out a gaudy ad.
The sentiment is not in fonts and symbols anyway. I think I have the same affection for the textile feel of cards and stationary ellyphant has, and I'm trying to "fix" the internet so it will accommodate me. Today I wondered if anyone here might say they couldn't make sense of it, since some is in symbols/alphabet we can't just type in here, but does seem to copy from elsewhere - at least I see it on my screen.
I got bloodwork done today. Worked out well to go at 10:00 a.m. with only one person ahead of me, and I even picked up a prescription from pharmacy 1 without waiting in any line. So that was TURBO proactive medical stuff.
Best wishes to Dee's dd for an excellent outcome from eye surgery.
Best wishes to OKay and LO for a quick recovery. Very good news that there's no fever.
Chat about teen girls and mothers - HRH mentioned yesterday that Tobias never play-attacks me like he does with HRH and dd.
(He comes out of nowhere.) I said it's because I'm always calm with him. HRH laughed and winked at dd. He said, "Yeah, I hear that 'calm' every morning before dd goes to school."
It's true, I can get SO frustrated with her some mornings - late, forgetful, unprepared. I'm sure HRH can hear it from wherever he is if he's still in the house. LOL! Just before the school run is not the time for me to deal with missing shoes, cluttered room, lost papers, no lunch money, where's the sweatshirt, did you brush your teeth, and, my favorite from this morning... YES your pockets ARE turned out, I'm looking right AT THEM and don't you know people used to laugh at turned out pockets as far back as VAUDEVILLE so YES as a matter of fact I do think PEOPLE NOTICE that sort of thing! Vaudeville. Alright, Ed Sullivan, then. Ed Sullivan. It was a ...never mind.

Re: Turbo Tuesday
Chicken salad almost mixed together for lunch - just waiting on the boiled eggs to cool before I add the final ingredient.
LO is snuggled up in a blanket in front of the TV. He tells me about every 3 minutes that his stomach hurts......I guess he thinks I might have forgot.
Since he has successfully kept ice chips down the last couple of hours, we are going to try weak juice next.

Re: Turbo Tuesday
DD was in line forever this morning to get her license and then they took everything BUT Visa.
So she had to go back to her car and get her check book. DBIL/DSIL were in line ahead of her for their new driver's licenses as well. They're due Feb 5th and 9th. DD's isn't until March 15th but this is the one day she had to stand in line. Guess FL used to be able to do it online until 2013. She said the line was out the door at 8:19a.m.
Have to take her this afternoon for her surgery. Sure she'll feel like nothing but sleep when she comes home -know there's anesthesia involved. DH and DsonIL are going to pick up gd. GD filled out papers last night for the man coming tomorrow for the youth ranch. We sure got a good giggle out of the answers. Things like how do you feel about chores? Answer: Don't like doing them but I do. This is the child who said the other day that they were asking too much of her to pick up her plate off the floor. All her answers were pretty false but I'm sure in her brain they were true. But perhaps a few weeks or month of building good habits will help. Sounds like she's pretty much in favor of going here. As I've said it's only about 12 miles away. She'll be able to come home weekends (after the first 30 days) and school breaks. It's a faith based youth camp and can go for as much as 18 months. Hopefully if she goes that long, by the time she's 16 some changes will have taken place. It's a far cry from the behavior hospital where she went in 2010.
I just finished cleaning up the living room and entryway. Still have to vacuum but dsonil is watching tv. Guess I'll go work in the kitchen and try to get that back in shape.
We go to Sarasota on Thursday for a get-together from our campground. DD plans to go with us since she'll still be off work. DS-A & family are planning to be here on Thursday I believe. Of course I believe all plans are cast in jello.
Okay, hope LO is coming out on the better side of this bug!
