sending safety out to all!
enjoy the extra 2.5 hour delay d lucy.
d harriet... great job on night time routine for dishes etc.
d twins I hope all went well at sleep study.
d okay, dkathryn, d lilac, dlynn good morning
good morning to all.

slippery morning here even though not much snow which makes me sad... I want 3 - 4 feet of snow... send it to me will you all! :D

as I have had such a cut up schedule this week, my house is showing the results of my inconsistencies with house work. So today: my goal is to use the timer to keep this puppy dog brain of mine on track. Also add music as it keeps me in control. (might head to library - tomorrow to get a book on cd so that I can keep myself focused.

In pam's book "the good book" she said she tried tying herself to one area (literally) after seeing a goat tethered and eating grass just in it's circle. I am thinking I need to stay with one area (and FOCUS) AND NOTHING ELSE!!!

Done my breakfast so I need to straighten my hair and then head out for the day.

My finishing touch is to pick up the printed annual reports and drop them at the churches.

I watched the radar and picked my moment, which happened to be the earliest. It was a long, long walk for me in, with no precip at that moment, just as I'd seen on radar, so that was a success. I signed her out 5 mins after the moment principal had agreed wouldn't be counted against students. Then dd got us through the length of the school and out a side exit, so at least the walk back (freezing rain together under an umbrella) was as minimal as we could make it.

She slipped twice, but no problems really. I was in my big-tred Skechers, so I was solid. Definitely worry about the teachers who will leave that exit hours later. In the time it took to retrieve her from class, my windshield had completely iced and we had to wait for it to defrost. Police car in the ditch not far from the school gave me pause. Life can get tough. I hope officer is all right, those who rescue car are all right, and the delays for anyone who needs police in the meanwhile are not a problem.

Settling in!

Waiting on final phone call from dd2. The phone rang and I answered without looking. It was the Nielsen ratings group. I had already received a note that I was "selected" to participate. I have btdt and I immendiately hung up. There is no way, I want to participate in that again.

Dd2 is getting ice for the shop and getting gas. At 10 am the last place in town, to get what she is wanting, opens. I hope they have it, because it will be a really quick trip, if we go. We would both rather go when we can take our time.

Heard on the news that meat prices are on their way up and it will affect us at the grocery store and in restaurants. Having heard the possibility before Christmas, I have tried to stock up, but what I have won't last forever.

Dd2 told me that she noticed that our R adio S hack store is closed. The sign is off and it is practically empty. I went there twice with her before Christmas. Each time she purchased things and each time they asked if she wanted the extended warranty. She said no. I had heard they were having financial troubles but didn't realize they were closing stores, too.

It is 10:07! I hope she has found what she needs!

Good morning!

((Lilac)) for weird dreams and troubled sleep. I hadn't heard about the meat prices before. I don't track prices well as it is. . . . .I am never the one to ask about prices/bargains. I am not a great shopper.

Stay safe all of you in icy weather!!

((blessed's dd17)) and the school switch situation. I hadn't realized (or I had forgotten) that that had happened this year. Did you get any snow today?

Hello everyone!

We got a little more snow this morning, maybe an inch. We keep getting snow in little dribbles this winter. I opened the door for the hens, but I don't think they've made an appearance yet.

I got ready and went to WW this a.m. I'm up 1.1 lbs over the last 2 weeks. That is about what I suspected; it could have been a lot worse. I gained over the last week and then lost some this week for a net gain of 1.1. Roads were a little sloppy and slow there and back.

I've been having open days, which has been awesome - but I'm not getting much done. *sigh* It is so ironic; I do get so much more done when my schedule is somewhat packed - but when my days are packed, I then wish for open days in my schedule. LOL! It must be the work of IGADS, which I will fight today.

Girls are up. Dd17 is heading out to a friend's house. I'm not sure what dd14 will do today; she does have synchro 5 - 8 this evening. I think we're cancelling her oboe lesson this afternoon b/c of her wrist. We cancelled the Honors Band this weekend too. I think dd14 never really wanted to do it, to be honest; she assumed when she tried out that she wouldn't make it. Her wrist is hurt, yes, but not extremely so. If she really wanted to, she could do the honors band thing. She is willing to swim with her sore wrist, and that does stress it some, though with oboe playing, it is the right hand that bears the weight of the oboe, but her teacher mentioned a strap we could purchase to take the weight of the oboe off the hand. . . . Anyhow, we've told her not to try out for the honors band next time unless she is willing to do the weekend.

Dd17's final exam scores are in. She got away beautifully with very minimal studying. . . . .Ergh. Dd14's scores are dribbling in, but they look good so far.

I'm off to finish my a.m. routine. Other goals: progress on New Year letters, exercise, house tidying.

BBL, I hope. . .

d helia, there is only a bit of snow - maybe an inch. (I want more)

I hear you about your dd17 flying by on the grades without much effort seen. our dd17, we used to say would come out smelling like a rose without the littlest of efforts and I wanted her to have a learning lesson, as it is easier now then when in classes at the university level. sorry your dd14 has a sore wrist! hope she heals fast.

I am not at all focusing either.. so timer in hand.. poof*** ta ta all.

Lilac btdt with the ratings thing I hang up too!
The cold snap has broken here snow is melting ice is nearly gone and it's raining out today, so much better than the frozen rain we got up to yesterday.

H. went to the school yesterda and got assignments for dgson and they worked on math as it is the focus currently. Dgson is behind on assignments again no surprise there.

Observations in the diff. homes:
Open floor plans are not an advantage when some one is easily distracts at huge TV screen is not a help! I have missed the carport scraping ice off windows sucks! H. got their garage. We did not use the shop. Our hot water has a quicker response so we are showering here.

Today I packed up for dgson's weekend at his other granny's loaded that stuff in the car. Glad I remembered my journal and had a good qt. this morning and slept until the alarm went off.

Temps to be in the low 60's today with humidity in the 70's - that makes for cold and damp in the desert. Plus it is supposed to rain. Rain and dust make mud. Yuck.

We have had enough fun and are heading home. I called the carpenter last night and he said that everything is done except the new window. So as long as we have water and heat - I long for a long hot shower.

This will give us some time and we will be able to get the paint a day or two sooner and get some painting done.

I love my time in the desert with friends but it will be nice to head for home.
