BTW: I'm not an entrepreneur. I have no taste for risk and have financed everything from our own assets. Will never be really rich as a result because we can't leverage dh's talent into something where we can charge major money for other people to do work for us as well, with dh simply overseeing their work. So every cent we have has been earned by dh's hard work and super brains.

On the other hand, it allows me to have an aggressive attitude with the bank because I'm not beholding to them for anything. "You don't want to release the funds from this invoice payment immediately to me? No problem, I'll take my accounts elsewhere since the US Treasury is not at risk of denying the funds to cover this in the next few weeks. Go make a call to your manager if you don't think you can clear these funds immediately, but I'm not taking no for an answer."

Plus, during downturns, we don't have the pressure to make payroll. Real entrepreneurs love the pressure. I abhor it.

Ivy The three boys in our lives are honourary nephews. They are the children of our church musician (and the future residents in this house, since it is their parents who hope to buy our house!)

Still no progress.

Found out that ds slept at the ski hill last night in the ski patrol clinic. He says the stretchers weren't too uncomfortable but the pillows were awful. The snow had started by the time he closed the hill and it is an hour drive to his house, plus he had to be back for hill open this morning and there was a storm warning by then, so he just slept over. He said the grooming machines were noisy when they went by but other than that he slept well.

I went to order my skin cream but it has gone up in price and I found my old one on Amazon US so I'm waiting to see if ds is putting in an order soon so I can add it to the order. Otherwise, I have to buy 3 bottles in order to hit free shipping.

Kathryn, How sweet! Honorary nephews sounds like a fun group of young boys to watch. What are their ages? Are they toddlers or a bit older than age 6? I love boys because I have 7 grandsons.

DH came into my office to kiss me before he left, I turned around and looked up. He saw my orange lipstick and decided to kiss my cheek instead!

I worked for a long time on cards this afternoon, so I have many ready for the mail. I also took ds to Walgreens and then back to our house this morning so he could get what he needed for his conference this weekend.

I am not a business person by any stretch of the imagination. Dh has spun off 2 "companies" from his University research, one of which is doing decently OK so far. I don't know where that company is with loans, though; they do have angel investors. Maybe they don't also have loans, then? I think the technology is such that a large amount of start up $$ is needed to produce it. There was a period of time when dh was exceedingly frustrated b/c the investors didn't have the technological know-how that he (and his colleague) had BUT they did have the $$ and were therefore trying (and succeeding!) in calling the shots with the company. I guess that is how it goes. Dh eventually decided not to be on the Board of Directors, I believe, b/c of his frustration at his sense of losing control of his own technology. However, his colleague, with whom he works closely, is on the board. And their former grad student is the CEO, though I think they just hired another CEO so he'll now be the Chief Tech. Officer -- or something like that. I think dh is in a much better place now with that whole process. and I probably didn't explain that very well. . .

Help! My house is being invaded by teenage girls. I'm going to leave in a minute to go to the gym, the post office box, and then Target.

Kathryn, dd2s dh is considering moving all of their accts. etc. to another bank. His db/business partner already has. Her dh is optimistic that business will pick up. Dd2 has absolutely NO patience. She did not need to start a business. Her dh works so many hours a week, that she thought it would keep her busy. I guess 5 kids didn't keep her busy enough. Now she thinks she did it to make money. Huh? I know that should be the ultimate goal but she does not need to work. But of course now she does, at least until she pays off her bank loan. I wished that her dh would have told her NO, a year ago. At least, he is so far holding his ground and not just telling her to close and they will just take the loss and pay off her loan. She is realizing now that she is losing time with the kids and they won't be young forever. The thing is the business is making money but with 5 kids and 4 of them 8 and under, she can't work nights and weekends so she has to have help. She said that if a couple had this business they would be in great shape and could get by with no or minimal help, depending on how much they want to work. Dh mentioned at one time buying it after he retires. I say no to that idea. Knowing dd2, I can't believe that she let the banker get to her without her standing up for herself.

Here are the two sites I promised. Spot the difference was the first brain game I ever played. I have a very difficult time with the photos and trying to figure out where the mistakes are. The other puzzles get interesting as they advance, but with some of them I can do really well.

Daily jigzone puzzles take some time to get used to. My suggestion is to start out slow with the puzzles until you figure out how to work them. Have fun and enjoy....

moved a fake potted plant & copper spittoon on the top of the dining room cabinet to be more decoratively "balanced". I used the fan light duster to carefully move them, because the china cabinet is tall and DH was gone. So this eliminates him needing to bring in the ladder, , AND it eliminates me hearing, "I'll do it later, but not just right now."
loaded the DW
put TP in the bathrooms
scrubbed 3 toilets, I was SO PROUD of my "housekeeping skills" so when DH got home I said, "The toilets were hardly dirty! I must be doing a better job! I cleaned them again while you were gone, too! Aren't you proud of me?" HE said, "I just washed those 3 toilets BEFORE you did!"
I stretched my back because it hurt.
Tidied up my home journal area, put out a small cupid or baby angel, bending over with his rump in the air, and he peeks at me, through his legs and arms. Too cute! Yes, I know it can be considered "clutter", but if it makes you genuinely smile to see it, it's NOT clutter, in my book! It's a "Joy-Maker"!

I'm on my way to elevate my feet, write on a letter, and listen to "Soundscapes" music. It's relaxing. They play a lot of Enya and George Winston, etc... on this cable music channel.

I'm so happy that DH bought my good pen a couple of refills, he bought a new pen with 2 refills, brought home another "Woman's World" magazine, lots of good protein, veggies, and fruits..... He was a good boy!

Now he's going to watch a movie. I'll go peek to see what it is. "While You Were Sleeping," starring Sandra Bullock and I think the man's Bill Pullman?

Oh, but first, Helia, about your house being invaded by teenaged girls, reminds me of a story! DD had a new puppy, which wasn't potty trained because she was so little yet. Then, she had a slumber party. So all night long, you'd hear girls squeal, "DD your puppy peed on my sleeping bag!" "DD your puppy did it again, but only now it's MY bag!" all night! I wasn't getting any sleep, helping entertain the girls. I thought it was what mothers did, so I told them a couple of spooky stories and they told me I needed my sleep. I went to bed, kept hearing water running, so twilight slept on and off, got a good sleep, and when I got up the next morning, oh my! The girls totally cleaned all the dishes from the pizza party, snacks, cleaned the dining room AND kitchen! The rooms were gorgeous! Then they'd all made a nice apology card for being so noisy, but they were thankful for such a fun party, too, and they all signed their names. DH and Dson were on their way, to come cook pancakes, etc... It started snowing, so parents were calling to come get their kids early. ONE man, who called to come get his step-daughter early said, "Gee, YOU sound like a "fun" person! Why don't we go OUT sometime?" I stated, "I'm MARRIED, HAPPILY, so why don't we NOT go out sometime- EVER!" He apologized and said I "sounded single". Anyway, the girls were so sweet and I'll never forget how DD's very first slumber party was a huge success and how they cleaned up the kitchen and dining room. ♥

Ivy, you've been really productive today!! WTG! That IS a funny story -- except, was the puppy truly peeing on their sleeping bags?

Most of the girls have left; the kitchen is a little messy but not too bad. This is dd17's small group Bible study group, and they're a nice group of girls, so I trust them pretty well - which is why I was OK leaving the house while they were all here.

OK, somebody here got me into lumosity. I've "joined" or whatever. I think I have 3 free days. I happen to LOVE puzzles and games.

Q: If it's not too personal, those of you experiencing memory difficulties for yourself and/or your spouse, what is your general age? I don't think dh and I have any issues yet. Dh often forgets names, but he has always forgotten names. I sometimes forget details too, which is less like me than dh but also not uncommon. Also, don't hormones in a woman's body affect her brain functioning as she ages? Dh is 49 and I am 45. I may be the youngster here -- at least when Mystery isn't here.

I'm off to unload the car and put away the groceries!

I have finished my modifications to a document. I ate a late lunch with some friends and one of them gave my two concert tickets. It is for Wilson Phillips, which is not a favorite. They were, however, a favorite of XDH's. It is tempting to give him the tickets, but I would want him to take DD and not the other woman. I haven't decided what to do. I guess I could just take DD myself, but I am not sure if she likes them.

Best day I've had in awhile. This morning at the SSA turned out super productive. Waited about 15 min to speak to a person at the window, then that person took a few minutes to run down the person I needed to see, who miraculously had the time to see me since I was there. I still need to go open a bank account for me/dsis but I think I may be nearly done with this round of bureaucracy.

Had a productive seven hours at work - didn't get there until 11 but was able to pretty much work w/o a lot of interruptions.

Came home ready to make some li&ts for dh for tomorrow, and I'm over that now. He came home with his (finally) new car, so had to take me for a ride and we ate at "Five Guys." Then back home where I walked the dog and it's 8 p.m. and I need down time!

I hope to get some li&ts done for dh in the a.m. I don't know if I had mentioned that several weeks back he suggested inviting "the Guest family" over for, perhaps, chili. That's morphed into four adults plus us, and five children, and making my Southern Jewish Brisket meal. I'd really rather not but he has his mind set on it. Lots to do to make the house guest ready, and I plan to take advantage of the fact I need to work tomorrow and he has down time. I also have stuff I need to do on Sat/Sun that is unrelated to having guests over....laundry, check on dmom's meds, and some other assorted stuff.

So now I'm having down time. I hope I have good energy going for tomorrow...
