Home from physio.

Physiotherapist will see me in two weeks. In the meantime, I can add another exercise (one from my back days but it works on quads) and up to 20 minutes of treadmill or walking a day for cardio. Unlimited exercise bike (but I usually can only do 20 minutes because I hate it.) I'm allowed unlimited street bike but that's not likely to happen this week - we have a winter storm warning for tomorrow.

I have the Webinar at 3 so have a few hours to be productive.

But first, lunch. Don't know what I feel like, but I'm hungry.

Practical Tips for Productive Living

I have a few things to do around here and then I'm off to run errands.

thank you for the nice thoughts for dd younger. today she went to school feeling better with a day of complete rest. dh is feeling tip top today. Tomorrow is his throat doctor appointment (every three months) so he is a little on edge but very kind.

dd older is stressing big time as she doesn't have a job yet for after college and the lady at the job center at the university suggested that the job areas are weak and she should use connections...she was upset at that suggestion because she feels she wants to get a job on her own. so she is panicking and is full of anxiety. She was offered a job in paris where she had an internship, a rare disease non profit, but she wants to stay in the states because she is afraid she will never be able to come home again. She misses the whole family so much. They also suggested another non paid internship to get in the door but many companies haven't been hiring those interns lately according to the university. So keeping fingers crossed and praying for God to guide her.

yesterday I slept the rest of the afternoon.. headache time of year but not as bad as when I was younger. I have been a human barometer from the time I was 10

Cowinkie, I forgot to say how glad I am you are OK after your rafting adventure! That sounds a bit too adventurous. . . . Did they take the rapids the wrong way?
Glad ddis doing better, blessed. I hope DDolder does find a job or internship or something soon. Cool about the job opportunity in Paris!

Dh just forwarded email from our CPA. Krikey, we owe a fair bit in taxes this year. It's not that the U doesn't take enough out of dh's regular paycheck - dh purposefully takes very few deductions so that more than expected is taken out - but dh has a fair bit of income from other sources that don't take out tax for us. These other sources vary year-to-year, and we know our giving offsets taxes to some extent, so we don't always pay estimated taxes each year. 2011 we did b/c something big happened that year, but this year nothing significant happened like last year, and we didn't. Now we also have to pay a penalty to the state for not doing that. Our CPA is asking us to consider paying estimated taxes each year. I'm not an accountant, but I'm not sure how dh could estimate his other income each year? It is all just kind of irritating, an unexpected expense. Fortunately, we can absorb it. It is just not what one wants to hear. Ah, we'll just pay and get on with life. Probably TMI you don't want to hear and I hope you'll soon forget. LOL!

I got sucked into a fantasy book dfriend R has loaned me. He knows I'm a little bored in my life right now. Very sweet gesture on his part.

Back from LO couselor appt. I visited with her a few minutes before she started the session with LO and got her recommendation on a couple challenges.
** Should we tell LO that his mother said she is going to call him tonight? Counselor recommended No. Because DD frequently doesn't follow-through (she has only called twice this year), counselor thought it might make LO question if it is because something he did. If his mother calls, fine. If she doesn't call, he never knew that she said she would.
** LO takes things exactly as they are said to him as real and true. Some people have found it humorous how literal he does what he is told. (at recent family function the children were playing both indoors and outdoors. A family member told the children to quit going in/out of the house in an effort to get them to settle down. However, LO took it literally. I found LO outside crying because he thought he couldn't go inside.....or come back outside) Counselor explained to me about concrete thinking. It is age appropriate for LO. She said he was totally fine and the abstract thinking will come. On the way home I was thinking this is probably why he doesn't do well with fantasy cartoons/games. He takes them as real instead of make believe.
** Love and Logic is having a training session next month within easy driving distance. I asked counselor if she recommended L&L and she did. I'm going to sign up to attend.

Helia - I hear ya. DSon and DDIL called us this week with a couple of surprising ideas (to me). They paid an extreme amount of taxes and are thinking outside of the box how to legally reduce the amount. One of their ideas is starting a pecan tree farm. I'm not sure they grasp (yet) how much effort, work, money, etc is involved. However, they are extremely bright & savvy so I'm sure they will filter out some of the ideas before make final decision.

I finally admitted to our CPA that I'm not going to get the stuff to him in time. He is going to file for extension & prepare our quarterly estimated tax form. I'll stop by and pick it up tonight.

I really should work on paperwork, but I have a headache, runny nose and am wanting some down time. I think I'm going to take the next hour and just relax. Hopefully it will energize me enough to go strong the rest of the day.

Ate lunch (dh made me french toast and bacon), tidied the kitchen, did a few of the weekly kitchen chores, deep cleaned my bite guard and then used the bleach/water to clean the compost bin in the kitchen. Folded a dozen liners for that from the newspapers and took the remainder out to the garage.

Checked out the pens in the kitchen and office mugs and tossed those that don't work, put extras into my 'extra' box. I have dozens and dozens of pens, some very nice, some high quality Parkers and Cross pens. Yet I prefer to use the gel pens so have dozens of those on hand as well (plus a box of Bic pens from when we started the company.)

Next challenge is to set up the cordless phone and see if it works with the headset.

Tax issues: DD has those issues because of increased salary... we have them because all the carryovers from bad years are used up. I either have to send in quarterly estimated tax or take more withholding. So far that is what I've been doing. It's never easy.

Dee, wunnerful made me think of Lawrence Welk. That's how he used to say it with his accent! I do hope this next place will be very helpful for DGD.

Well I'm not having such a good day, but that is usual for around here lately. Several OMM things done, more comfortable (though not a lot) with another iffy business proposal.... and I try to continue on. I need to go look at the laundry. Paperwork took an insane amount of time today.

Groceries bought and put away. Not many - this is my 2nd trip in 3 days. We should be good until next week - except I forgot corn bread to go with the chili tomorrow night. Did a quick vacuum of the living areas. a.m. routine is done - except I forgot to make the bed.

Girls just walked in the door. .. I'm going to chat with them and then go to the gym to jump on the elliptical trainer for 30 minutes.

Hi everyone! I have been good today. I have gotten together with x-in-laws and managed not to tell them that their son is an adulterer, even though it was independently confirmed just last night. He will likely marry his other woman, and I really hope his family learns what went on. I am sure he told them that everything was completely my fault.

I went to bed at a reasonable hour last night, but still am tired. I woke up with a hurting arm, but massive doses (doctor approved) of ibuprofen have settled that. I have finished and emailed the animal org meeting notes and minutes. Tonight after work, I get dFosterCat10 back. (She needed to be separated from my others, but the isolation ward had a temporary hole in the ceiling, which is now fixed). Then I take her with me to the animal org board meeting. I have the easiest job of all there, I am secretary. After that, I would normally crochet. Since that is not an option for another 13 days, I will work on the database project instead. I will figure out what tables exist in the database for tonight's goal..
