Happy Father's Day Sunday

Yesterday's list...

So far today,
I've put a way clothes that were hanging to dry, put a load of jeans in the washer and I've done my allergy shots.

Father's Day was pretty calm around here. DS not home yet, so dh finally got to celebrate exactly as he wanted to -- by doing absolutely nothing, except attend church. I got him a Civil War book that he has not been able to put down, and a shirt, and he has watched the golf tournament all afternoon. DS called to wish him a happy Father's Day.
We visited dmil for a little bit, and I've talked to dmom. She said she just did not feel up to church attendance this morning, which I understood. Our church is in flux re: pastor, and the new, young, interim pastor-in-training this morning did not even mention Father's Day.
It IS an odd feeling; dh being the oldest father now... I certainly did not expect this to happen so soon. OTOH, I know I was lucky to have my ddad as long as I did... a lot of people lose their fathers before their 51 years old; a lot of men don't live to be 73... and I was definitely blessed to have him as healthy and active as he was for those 73 years. I still just feel really odd about the whole thing. It almost still feels sorta unreal.

Harriet -- oh my... I have been to weddings like that! Drives you CRAZY! I understand the idea of not taking pics of the bride & groom together before the wedding... but for goodness sakes, looks like they could get some of those pictures out of the way beforehand.

My life has been kinda a rollercoaster since March. April, trip to Houston... May, trip BACK to Houston... etc.

Really quiet evening. Dh and I went for a walk before dinner. I'm up to .46 miles.

I made salmon and mashed sweet potato, plus an apple with skin. I'm having green tea and chocolate now and will have an orange in a little bit. Lots and lots of fibre now since things have worked through to the other end now so I know it isn't going to be a blockage.

We watched tv all evening. There's a wicked thunder storm over us right now. Dh is doing up the dishes and running the dishwasher so I hope the power holds.

Ds is still in bed. He was too tired to stay up. Understandable. Originally, we were to be away for Father's Day so he made other plans for the day and that's why he's exhausted.

I'm very sore but made it an hour beyond my last pill, plus I'm taking 1/3 fewer pills today than yesterday so this is a good thing.

Okay, that doesn't surprise me a bit, that your thoughtful son would go ahead and visit. He absorbed all the thoughtful and kind things that he has always seen you and your dh do and he does the same things without even thinking about it.

MT, I am glad that you are on the road again. I always enjoy your descriptions of people, places and things that you encounter along the way.

Dd1 baked dh a batch of Tollhouse Chocolate Chip Cookies with pecans, for Father's Day. She brought them over in a container and wrapped. He really appreciated them and is having trouble leaving them alone.

We are having another thunderstorm, so I better get off of here.

Just booked a hotel starting a week from now. For four nights. It is right on Lake Ontario, in the middle of picturesque small city. It is a Residence Inn so full kitchen (so I can keep up with 6 meals a day if I buy/take frozen meals, tinned soup, keep leftovers from meals.)

I've let dd's godparents know since it is less than 2 hours from their place. Perhaps we can meet up for an afternoon.

It can be cancelled right up until 6 p.m. next Sunday.

I've just had an orange so am off to bed now with lots of water. Will fold and put away the laundry first.

Kathryn - that sound like a beautiful place.

It has been a good eating day. I made bacon/eggs for breakfast, We ate at our favorite Chinese restaurant (DH choice) for lunch. DMom cooked dinner for us all. And I still managed to stay within today's points!

However tomorrow might be a bigger challenge. Since everyone is suddenly free, DSon has declared he is taking both Grandmothers and us on an adventure. We are going to eat at a restaurant we have only heard about. It is located on 50th floor and is suppose to have the best view in the state. I'm ready for a little adventure and fun!

We also did MickeyD's for breakfast. Very unusual for HRH to have pancakes. We were all so overwhelmed in general that it was really helpful. Dsonil got a video card from the boys, very sweet. HRH got 2 shirts, one button-down sensible and one funny. The boys had Hardee's biscuits, which we assumed they would like. They took the egg off and ate it and left the biscuits.

Salmon - I was thinking too, I should have salmon once a week. It is so good for you. The healthy grocery has wild.

lucylee, you get me started thinking like a worship director again. Unless a very small church, it is not just the one preaching who would need to insert mentions of Father's Day if traditional. It would be whoever is in charge of music and other aspects of worship, of printing the bulletin, the one making an announcement/welcome, etc. Many ways to have Father's Day reminders within the service without the one preaching doing it. Also including sometimes, someone who presents a children's message, flowers in the church placed in appreciation of Dads, etc. If the young fellow got no feedback on expectations about Father's Day, he may have thought it wasn't traditional to include it.

Photographer - actually, he was taking photos of groomsmen as we arrived, so some photos were out of the way. So he must have completely exhausted the wedding party. I don't know who was paying for the photography, but somebody dropped the ball not saying, "enough". Anybody in attendance who looks at those photos is going to remember! I have been to another wedding in which it took a long time, but the "punch table" was offered, plus a finger-foods table, so there was something to do with your hands, a reason to walk around a little.

OKay, if you get a chance, pop over to H and F to brag a little (no not really ) and chat about what you've been doing to have such success. I think I probably have the wrong idea about WW because I noticed you mentioned picking your own weigh-in time and I thought there were specified times.
