Hello, everyone!
Harmony, your toe doesn't have a touch of gout, does it?
Helia, I say send the card if you want to...after all, the family is probably feeling their loss more now than when the accident first happened.
There is a lot happening here with all the "village people". Will have to properly CUOP before responding to others of you.
Wishing all a good evening!

Re: WORKIN' WEDNESDAY
Off to bed. Ds's first load of laundry is in the dryer, second is in the washer and I've left him a note to put it in the dryer when he gets home. I offered to do his laundry. He works most evenings and weekends so never gets a chance to run laundry during cheap electricity time. It takes me 10 minutes or so to handle a load, not onerous and helps him a bit. I moved his step stool to the laundry room so I can sit on it and handle the laundry without bending. Much more comfortable than kneeling on the floor which was what I was doing before.
If dh is slow to get to bed, I'm going to try some knee physio. Will take the ice packs up with me. It is frustrating to 'know better' but not be able to 'do better.'
Took the bandages off my stomach last time I was upstairs. I seriously worried about my insides pouring out so it took some nerve (yes, I knew better but that didn't change my worries.) My discharge tube hole isn't quite healed over but the others looked pretty good so I put a bandaid over the hole. The big umbilical hole still has a bandage over it. My instructions were to removed the waterproof plastic and let any remaining bandages come off on their own in the shower.
Helia: The family will be touched that someone is thinking about them now that everything is over. Don't apologize, just write that you were thinking of them and if you are comfortable making an offer to help (i.e. suggest coffee out, or babysit, or run errands) make that offer too. Adrenaline carries us through the immediate time so it is now that people need a bit of help or company.

Re: WORKIN' WEDNESDAY
Thanks, Kathryn and elly. I think I'll do that. Yeah, I was thinking of offering help, though I know there has been an incredible network of people working to help them. There will be meals brought in throughout the summer, apparently. She works full time as a nurse. Still, since we are close by, I can offer dh's handyman services and perhaps even dd15's seamstress skills and any other sundry things they may need help with. . . Running errands is a great one! I run a lot of errands anyway. Their kids are older; their youngest child is the same age as ds19.
I'm glad that Mr. Dee is getting good care.
I can't figure out what is going on with Lynlee. I looked back over the last few days' threads, maybe a week. . .
Twins, I was going to say that it was fun to hear of Moses walking with neighbor German Shepherd. the shepherd is still quite young and so maybe he (?) is still being socialized. Are you going to keep doing it? I bet they'll become buds eventually. Since Moses has Macs, he's probably pretty well socialized to other dogs? Maia is learning some of that at puppy kindergarten, though dd17 says she gets uber-excited by all the other puppies there. Maia is learning cross-species communication with Lily; she no longer chases her, which is helpful. But when Lily get defensive and hisses or swats at Maia, Maia gets excited b/c she thinks Lily is playing - and then she tries to play with her "dog-style," which as you know can be pretty aggressive. this just upsets Lily more, resulting in more hissing and swatting, more playful and active behavior (and even barking) from Maia. . . .Someone has to intervene - or Lily just slinks off downstairs. they have touched noses several times, so I think they'll work it out soon.

Re: WORKIN' WEDNESDAY
a sewing event for Quilts of Valor in September which will be a good time.
BookSaver, a good time? It would be a GREAT time. What a joy that you get to do that sort of thing.
Dd14 had a friend over. I took them to SubWay but we brought the food home, watched an episode of Hyacinth and they hung out in dd's room.
This morning was laundry morning - 3 loads complete.
MT, I love reading about your trip. We might as well have anchors attached to us here.
I resemble that remark.
Cowinkie, if she realized an egg was not developing, she might have pushed it from the nest, yes. Otherwise, the bottom line is, I don't know.
Sympathy card - I think it's fine to send one now, and I imagine it would be very appreciated since it would not arrive in a bunch. But if your intention is to contribute to a memorial, and if you feel confident your neighbors will be informed that you did, that would be sufficient.

Re: WORKIN' WEDNESDAY
Sooo much to respond to and I know I will miss a BUNCH of things I wanted to say...
(((BIG BIG HUGS))) to (((Dee & Mr. Dee))) Hope they get him straightened out really soon!!!
(((Harmony))) Hope your toe feels better soon. I can't wait to tell dmom about the A dvil gel caps! She has two places that should really benefit from that. Let me know if you try it! (Thanks, Cowinkie, for the tip!)
(((Cowinkie))) I certainly do hope they get you back on the right track soon, too!
(((Lynlee)))
(((Kathryn)))
color=#0040FF]Helia [/color]-- as someone very much in your neighbor's situation, I say go ahead and send the card. I had three people today express sympathy to me at a fish dinner thing @ dparents' church, people who had missed the funeral for one reason or another, and I appreciated their words so much.
I also received a card just last week -- a "thinking of you" as Father's Day was approaching -- and that meant a lot to me too. It was from a friend, but not a super-close friend, just someone who had lost her dad in the past couple of years, too, and she wrote a short note saying that she knew the first Father's Day was the worst. It just always feels good to know people still care, especially after a little time has past -- you know they are still thinking of you and that they haven't just forgotten and gone on with their lives, you know?
My goodness -- all this talk of bee swarms is going to have me terrified to step out the door! Ooohhh... I do NOT like stinging, flying insects. I once threw one of dmom's kitchen glasses at a FLY while I was lying in the sun on the brick patio -- b/c I thought it was a wasp and it startled me! NOT fun to clean broken glass off a brick patio. Not fun to explain one's stupidity to dmom, either, now that I think of it.
(((OKay))) I know my dmom has not totally been "herself" in the last month, you know, which I am hoping is due to grief & stress. I think my dmom is a good bit younger than yours, though... dmom is 68. That makes her lapses less troubling in some ways -- and more troubling in others. * sigh * Maybe time will work its magic.
(((HUGS))) for you with dental woes. Not crazy about the dentist, myself. When I was little I had a prescription for anti-anxiety med that I took before I went to the dentist.
TA-DA's * tooting my horn here *
I am not lazy; I just have to get dh out of the house! Apparently he is a bad influence on me!
Today, I have
* spent an hour (4 15-minute sessions) in the master bathroom, organizing and discarding stuff in drawers and cabinets
* cleaned dh's shower, which is not nearly such an ordeal since I discovered the power of Scrubbing Bubbles + a Mr. Clean pad
* vacuumed all the living area floors * which took approx. 50-55 minutes *
* and did not include any dusting at all *
* babysat dgs for about 90 minutes or so, while doing a lot of the above tasks. All he did was watch his programs
and sleep, after I changed him & fed him
* visited w/ds for a little while when he came to get dgs
* went to grocery store for dmil
* got supper for dmil & us, delivered dmil's to her (along w/groceries)
* read paper
* made appt w/gyno
* made appt w/dbil the lawyer
* talked to insurance people who called, did NOT make appt
* talked to other insurance people who only needed extra info for paperwork
* talked to dmom on phone
* talked to local business re: leftover school purchase order that hasn't been closed out yet
It makes you feel like you've accomplished a LOT to write it all down like that!
