I've been thinking through while here. Can see a train wreck of a summer approaching since it now looks like I'll be working every Sunday except July 14 (which is our family Christmas in Toronto.) Half those weeks at two different locations. In total at 4 different preaching points. When I fill in the form next year for my re-licensing it will look impressive because I'll have worked at least 18 times (one must work at least once a year to keep one's license.)
I also have 3 church surveys to do in the week after getting back from 'Christmas' and they expect me to line up 2 more as well (am waiting for September to do that unless some fall in my lap before then.)
September we are having an international standards meeting at our house and then at the end of the month ds leaves. Dd is hoping we'll visit for some time in there as well. Not sure when we'll get to Nova Scotia. Even flying, I don't see a hole in my schedule but I'll have to carve one out. My uncle is over 100 and so this is something that can't be put off.
We leave here today. I will really miss looking out over the water. I might ask to come back again over the summer since it is an easy drive from home (90 minutes.) Or perhaps I'll look for other places on the water.
Got to bed at midnight, had trouble sleeping and woke up at 6:20 so I expect I'll be tired today. But at this point, I'm raring to go. My tea is steeping now and I'll have it and some fruit and chocolate as my first breakfast, then shower and go down for my second breakfast.
Good morning! T hank you for the birthday wishes, Lilac. We will celebrate later, though dh has reservations at my favorite restaurant in town for tonight, an Asian fusion restaurant downtown owned by friends who attend our church. He is Vietnamese but lived in China before emigrating here as a child, and she is Korean background, but grew up completely in the US, I believe. He is the main chef - and he is AWESOME!! It is rare for anything to happen on the actual day in our family, so this is special. Our family still needs to celebrate dd15's birthday last month before we can celebrate my birthday. It is very hard to find time when 7 schedules coincide (S and R are like family, and we include them in our celebrations).
Maia has a vet appt. at 9 a.m. I need to s2s before then. Ds just left for work, and dh has taken and made some work-related phone calls first thing this a.m.
It's good to see Kathryn making progress returning to her normal self and raring to go.
I woke up this morning feeling well rested and ready to get a good start on the day. I've completed AM cards, watering/weeding the garden, harvested arm load of greens and processed them, prepared & served breakfast.
LO asked DH to come watch him swim today and DH has tentatively agreed (if nothing breaks or blows up at MPB). If LO care is covered then I'm going to jump at the opportunity to have a few hours to focus on desk tasks. In particular, inputting Nov & Dec tax information and then go over all the 2012 spreadsheets to ensure they are ready to take to CPA. I would dearly love to get that finished & off my mind.
today's menu plan -
** Smoothies
** Nachos, tamales and green salad
** Salmon patties, green beans and new potatoes
I have half a pb&banana, half a turkey sandwich, some salad and half a pizza to sustain me today. Tossed out the leftover souvlaki. Never used the soups I brought but did munch on some of the crackers. The food is ready to put in the cooler and the dishes are done up.
I've still got to put the furniture back (I put the easy chair where it could see out, instead of tucked in a corner.
We tried to get an oil changed booked at one of the dealerships between here and home but none had a slot available so we'll do it tomorrow when we are in the city. The only place we could get in today was 40 minutes south in NY State but the cost was the same as home so I decided I didn't want the hassle of a border crossing (I'd have to toss the food I have.) The only food I need is cereal and while I save $1.50 a box, it costs $5.50 to cross the border so I need to save on a lot of groceries in order to make the border crossing worthwhile. I have an accounting appointment tomorrow morning in the city and need to do a Co stco run. The dealership is across the parking lot from the store so it won't be out of my way and they have a quick change oil change service.
Not sure if we'll have fish and chips at lunch on the way through or just push for home and get in early. Either is a possibility. Once we leave here we don't have any plans although I could sit out and read at the park where we eat our fish and chips since it is on the main channel and I usually get to see ships there.
It is clouding over here and the whole area is under a thunder storm watch so we'll decide what to do once we know what the weather is like at any given moment.
Kathryn, it sounds like you really need to live by the water somewhere, as much as you enjoy it.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, helia!
I need to get caught up in the house today. Some laundry, washings and folding; lots of kitchen work. Have to stick close by home to wait for a delivery.
Dd1 and I started our walk ahead of 7. It was warming up quickly. We are forecast to have 105 today. Sunday will be 87 and then the next 2 days cooler than that but still in the 80's.
Last night dgd3 said she felt sick at the 8:30 ballgame. I thought I would need to watch her but dd2 called and said she was giving dgd16 the choice, work or watch dgd3. We were still on the phone when she gave her the choice and she picked watch dgd3.
Both boys have games tonight, 1 at 6:30 and 1 at 8:30. I don't think I will make it because dh leaves tomorrow for a weekend bike trip and I will need to help him pack and spend time with him. I am hoping dd2 will opt to stay home due to the heat and dgd3 not feeling 100%. Monday is the last ballgame for dgs7. Their dad is coaching a traveling tournament team for dgs9 that runs thru July. Dd2 told him that she won't be making the out of town games, so he needs to plan on taking the boys.
Good morning, villagers ~
It is still morning here, and my 2nd start to the day. Did not sleep well last night. Got up with DH and did a few chores, but then went back to bed after he left for work. Woke up again at 11, did a few more chores, and am finally ready to get moving.
I'm off now to The Big City to have lunch and run errands. Even if I do nothing else, that will be more than I accomplished yesterday!
