Re: Friday - a week well done
Good morning, villagers ~
Harriet ~ That looks like a good opportunity for Ddil. I hope it works out for them.
Helia ~ Good job sticking with the jogging.
Twins'Mom ~ Sure hope you can have that meeting today to, as Harriet is fond of quoting Barney Fife, "Nip it in the bud. Nip it!"
(Kathryn)
My pain issue this week has been knees, ever since I did extra walking last Saturday at the park. I was trying to use good T-Tapp walking technique all day, but the ground was very uneven. Earlier this morning I put "shoes" on the shopping list for next errand day, and now I see OK confirming that idea. Both pairs of walking shoes are really old; they are comfortable but I think just too worn out to be any good any more.
3 Ds are in pretty good shape today. Next 6x6 =
* DPC re Rx
* stop by library to drop off empty boxes and look in donation box
* library group's bank deposit
* clear enough space between closet and window so I can help DH install the bedroom a/c unit tonight or tomorrow
* empty cabinet under bathroom sink
* see if I can figure out the leaky drain pipe
Fixing that bathroom drain leak has been delayed because the previous owners of this house put a shelf in the cabinet in such a way that it almost completely prevents access to the plumbing. I haven't had a long enough block of time available when I could risk crawling on the floor getting dirty and wet.
Edit to add:
Harriet ~ I've had blood taken from my hands and it always bruises. but I don't remember the swelling being remarkable.
Have you seen anything about the book VB6 (Eat Vegan before 6PM)? I saw an interview with the author on The Chew. Actually, unless we have leftovers that I use for lunch, I regularly eat vegetarian for breakfast and lunch. I don't know if I could easily do vegan -- I rely on eggs, milk, and cheese for a lot of protein choices.

Re: Friday - a week well done
Lost my post earlier, then the phone rang. Will try again...just a quick check-in.
Hello, all!
Kathryn, yep, it might be too soon for grilled cheese for you, but you will get there! I make it with just cheese and bread, no butter. At first, I couldn't eat regular ice cream without pain, but even that is ok now! I'm not drinking any soda, either, and don't really like coffee anymore. Of course, the coffee issue could be because I switched to decaf...May have to go back to half-caf to get some enjoyment from that again!
Hope to get back to posting more next week. Take care, everybody!

Re: Friday - a week well done
Morning Y'all..
I've decided to re-do my office today so that will take some time and creative thinking. Over the past few days I have worked on my two bathrooms and it shows. I have been on a roll when it comes to pitching stuff in the garbage and intend to keep it up as I scope out the rest of my house. I figure I will just focus in one area at a time....
It is hot hot hot here today. Willis wants to swim and doesn't understand it is just too hot to go out to play, even if it is swimming in the pool. They are no predicting the temps will reach 119* today. Not sure I've ever experienced that before. I have all the fans going and most of the shutters closed. I hate feeling like I am in a cave, but I just have to survive it for a few days, which I know I can do.
Off to start tearing into my office....I did want to give a way to go to Okay for getting all that paper work done. I know first hand what that chore was like. I hate having paper work hanging over my head....That's why I'm so thankful I don't have any more IEPs to write. One of the best things about being retired

Re: Friday - a week well done
TaDas!
x WW; I'm up .7 lbs. Not what I wanted to hear but probably expected since I ate so much last night -- and haven't been tracking. I got out my tracking journal today and am doing that.
x emails
x responded to fb bd wishes from yesterday
x finished a.m. routine
x lunch
x 3 DPCs; cancelled hotel reservation for tomorrow night (dfriends booked a room for us in the park lodge), left a message at the education office in IL, called a woman from church our steer. comm. has identified as a possible candidate for the childcare coordinator position. We lost our previous (and excellent!) coordinator this year as she was working part-time at a school and needs her Thursday mornings to continue that.
x folded lol #1, lol #2 in dryer, lol #3 in washer
It has been raining this afternoon. I guess I am not going to trim the forsythia as planned.
70% chance of rain tomorrow at the park where we're meeting friends. Part of me thinks: do we really want to spend $X and 7 hours in the car (there and back) and a day away from our kids to sit in a lodge and maybe walk a bit in the park in the rain? Part of me realizes this is not so much about a pretty hike in the woods as it is about reconnecting with old friends. I need to nurture that 2nd thought a bit more.
Next:
- check my li&t
- finalize groc. list
- go to groc. store, maybe Target too.

Re: Friday - a week well done
It's 72* at 11:15 a.m. so it'll be a hot day!
DH will go to the garden center to purchase plants for 2 containers he's cleaned and got potting soil in, on the patio. We've been getting ready for a family BBQ for the 4th of July.
I'm looking forward to seeing dgd who turns 6 months on July 6. She got her ears pierced and I've heard she's really cute with them pierced. She'd lost all her hair, so everyone kept thinking she was a boy. No more!
Happy TGIF to Everyone!

Re: Friday - a week well done
I'm using the docked key board w/ my mouse to type this it's taking forever; just got the floors swpt & mopped in kit, dining, & bathrms! Yea!
Back to the key board now; Dd just called needing an over-nite sitter for dgd so considering that it's too hot to do much I suspect h. will just want cave time tonight when he gets off work.
Waving to all!
79* here today at the moment!

Re: Friday - a week well done
Hello to everyone.
It is hot here too. I got up in the middle of the night to put on the fan. I'm not handling the heat as well as I should be. Probably my thyroid issue right now.
I'm blaming that on my laziness. I had such hopes to do things in the house yesterday. Nothing but dinner got done. I'm doing a bit better today, but stressed badly.
Went to the bank to drop off some papers, was going to just get a preliminary nod (or not) but when I got there this nice lady dropped everything and did the whole shebang. Lots of forms. It appears the papers do not adequately show reality and she is doing everything she can to make that happen. Such a nice lady. After I got home she called and emailed several times requesting more information and I got that off to her. What will be will be. If not this year, we'll try in another year.
Unfortunately, this is one bank that has changed hands. With the old bank we paid off 2 mortgages within a few years. They no longer have those records in their computer.
Anyway...moving on.... I got some laundry folded and another hanging outside. Other paperwork done. My desk is piled up badly. I'm not up to tackling it.
Huge thunder storm yesterday. Great for the new grass seed. It's getting long out there, but we're trying to wait a bit to give the seed time to settle into the earth.

Re: Friday - a week well done
It's 72.3* here now at 11:47 a.m. and DH is running out to go mow for 1.5 hours on the riding lawnmower before it gets any hotter or too much later.
On Tuesday July 2, it'll be 96* here. Yikes! I'm sure glad we have a heat pump and it's like A/C, which cools down the house well. It's set at 75*, so we won't get too chilly.
While I had my back turned, and I don't know when this happened, but DH put away the blue place mats, I'd washed on the kitchen counters last night and he got down the 6 vinyl ones with birdhouses and flowers on them. I was thinking with kids from 6 months to 16.5 years old, the vinyl place mats would be better. I won't do a tablecloth because it's too easy for a toddler to grab the corner and there goes the table!
Also, it's easier to clean the wood of the table, in case of spills,
without a tablecloth on. I thought DH was SO NICE to do this for me!
Sometimes he amazes me!
I'd better get back to my snail mail! After it's all done, I'll clean, do laundry and work on a story.

Re: Friday - a week well done
Home from time with DGS16. I took him to what I thought was a new restaurant, but turned out to be more of a bar that also served food. It was good but there are better options so we probably won't be returning.
WW weigh in showed a 1 lb loss. I was hoping for more, but I'm happy as long as the scales keep heading in the right direction. I was awarded a 5% goal star today.
I bought some frozen food and immediately put it in an insulated bag. However the heat managed to melt the food before I could get it home.
We are *only* in the low 100's here. I can't imagine how one would manage to get food home in 119 degrees!!
