Independence Day

Post by Lilac »

Happy 4th of July!

I am up early and couldn't go back to sleep. I was just glad to wake up. Last night at dd2s after cake and ice cream, I started feeling sick. Dd1 told me that my bs was probably too high. I tested it
and it was 43. I think that was the 1st time that I had ever had a low but was feeling stuffed. Therefore, I had a hard time getting it back up. I drank a can of pop and had grapes. It finally started coming back up. Dsil was shooting off some nightworks, so we went out and sat in fold up chairs in the drive and watched. It was so cool that we ended up covering up in throws, etc. We were commenting that it was a first, having to cover up and watch fireworks in July. When I came home I had intended to do some work around here but I was too wiped out and went to bed. Yesterday I walked, mowed, went to the grocery store and then was busy with hair appt and 2 more stores. What would have normally been the right amount of insulin was too much last night. It is sometimes a real guessing game, as I am sure Nancy would agree with.

Guess I will get some laundry started.

Earlier I watched an almost 6 minute video where a reporter was asking people what country did we declare our independence from in 1776. They didn't know, so he would ask what year it was, that was after saying in 1776, what year was the declaration of independence signed. I couldn't believe that that many people couldn't answer either question. He finally found a German tourist who knew the answers. Yikes!

Good morning, villagers ~
Happy 4th of July!

We are planning a relaxing day at home since DH has to go back to work tomorrow.

I thought about sitting around a fire last night, but I was too tired to go out. Maybe this afternoon if it doesn't get too hot today. Practice for camping.

We're having brats and kraut for lunch, and pasta salad with Cheddar and lots of veggies for supper. I'm in the mood for picnic food, even if we don't leave the back yard. 8-)

The rest of this month is going to be quite busy. Traveling every weekend but this one, although we could still get a spontaneous call from family to come up this Saturday or Sunday, too. Lots of prep work during the week.

Good Morning

I am up but feeling kinda drugged after massive over eating yesterday. I hope I remember how yucky this feels next time I consider eating non-stop & without boundaries.
I much prefer feeling light weight and having energy to go all day long.

We have been invited to neighbor home for 4th July celebration tonight. Not sure what we will do except i do know it will be near home so we can keep an eye on livestock and furkids. They HATE fireworks. People in the city come to the country to shoot off their fireworks since it is illegal to do it in city limits. If the livestock could speak they would tell those people to GO AWAY and stop scaring them!

Good morning! I probably shouldn't be here. We need to leave in 2:15 or so. Dh has gone to buy some stain; he is determined to finish his latest woodworking project before we leave - a painting easel for dd17.

I am up, s2s-ed. have made a li&t, and have checked my teacher cert. online. The whole system is under maintenance. Grrr......

Dh has suggested that I wait to send in my online application to the local community college until I contact a past supervisor from a private English Academy I taught at while in Austin, TX. I can't remember the names of my supervisors at Austin community college, where I also taught. I wonder if these people will remember me anyway? SO, that is still on my plate.

That is scary, Lilac, about the people not knowing basic history. I am not a history buff by any stretch of the imagination, but still. . . . There is detailed history and then there are the basics. It's kind of like when people hear dh's accent and try to figure out where he is from. Some real life responses: Dh says, "I'm Dutch." Response: Oh, you're from Denmark. OR dh has said, "I'm from the Netherlands." Response: Is that the capital of Denmark? I don't know why people have him pegged as being associated with Denmark. He's never set foot in that country, actually.

Thanks for sharing about the inventor of the mouse, yesterday, Kathryn. I'm sorry he has passed. I'm glad you're feeling better!!

Weight is up again this morning!! I did snag 3 cookies last night. I can't do that; I can't even look at cookies and cakes, which are ubiquitous in our house right now. I did resist the chocolate mousse.

I must go fold a lol, prep a letter for the mail, and get on with packing.

Happy Independence Day

my taps are in and working. I also talked to the plumber about my shower I 'don't use due to leaking into my walk in wardrobe. Life would seem more secure if the shower was in use instead of stepping into the bath and using the make do shower there. another project to put on my list.

load of washing is on the line waiting for hopefully a sunny day to come in. I have a length of rope attached to the laundry basket and drag it rather than working out how to pick it up with one arm. I can let down the clothes line from some back veranda posts and that makes it easier too. I took out my little stool and hangers and worked out a way to get things on hangers , then the line with less up and down bending.

support group lunch and group today. friend picked me up. afterwards we went to i g a and I bought milk fruit (we shared a pawpaw) frozen veg mix (my easy access little work veg choice) and water filter cartridge from bigger supermarket over the road.

We came home. neighbour was climbing over the fence to walk dog so greeted him before sending him off. Shopping away. Had a cuppa an talk with friend. showed off my new tap ware.
I climbed into pjs and slept maybe 2hrs.

Waving to Lilac Booksaver Okay and Helia and all in village.

Kathryn - I know that sick feeling after eating what doesn't agree. Hope it is out of your system now/soon.
Just begin.
Living this day, today
Take a reality check; Remember to breathe; Do what I am able to do.
Look for the good in all.

((((LynLee)))) You are one brave and innovative woman! BWTG on discovering ways to get things done while healing. I hope your able to have a long and deep sleep soon. (((Gentle hugs))))

Yesterday I added an extension to irrigation system in the bulb bed, but didn't have time to test it to see if the water would flow the way I hoped. That was the first thing I did this morning after the sun came up enough to see. I am seriously addicted to playing in the garden. :D

Lynlee, Kathryn recently mentioned watching Bewitched and I remember thinking if I had Samantha's nose twitching ability, I could be available to help all my friends in the village, as needed. ;)

I am progressing rather slowly.......

Happy fourth, everybody!

We'll have a quiet day here. Will fix N athan's hot dogs, corn on the cob, baked beans and red grapes. Usually we can see fireworks off in the distance as we are on a ridge.

Our 4-day trip to help Dd involved 24 hours total time spent driving. So our backs are sore and we need some down time today. But all is well...we accomplished what we set out to do!

I have skimmed your posts and will try to keep up going forward. Waves to all!

Today I've fed the chickens late they were squawking to get out. They were okay after the fireworks not much worse than a T-storm here last night. Got them in the pen a bit early last night.

I've had breakfast did my journal drinking coffee now. Have a craving for chicken hope the cafe' I like the wraps at is open if not will have to cook.

Dear ladies,

Another quick note, and again for the same reason. Kathryn is back in hospital and early indications are that it is pancreatitis. She likely will be admitted for a few days to be on fluids to let her digestive system relax and repair itself.

Nothing finalized yet ... we are still awaiting test results and to talk with a doctor who is likely busy through the day with surgeries.

We travelled from Toronto back to home yesterday after lunch and her pain started almost immediately after boarding. We even contemplated disembarking early to go to a hospital, but she lasted all the way home, started feeling better, and then deteriorated at bed time. We drove in at about 12:30.

She may get on the boards later today, but she is not pushing herself. If not, I'll post again later.

She says "hi" to everyone, and "Happy Independence Day" to those in the US (as do I!).

. . . . . . . . Ken
