Good Morning

What a glorious weather change! It is cloudy and only 71 degrees. I was in the garden when LO woke up so he decided to PUT ON A COAT before coming outside to talk with me. I busted out laughing when i saw him in his PJ & coat. I asked him - Why did you put on a coat? He said "It is cold outside!"

We are still in the middle of repairing/replacing multiple equipment failures. Some will be solved easily but others will take days/weeks to work through. It seems to happen every year when extreme heat or cold stresses the equipment to it's failure point. That's my unproven theory anyway!

I've visited colorist this morning. I'm D2B and ready to get going.

Simple is our goal for the day.

I slept much better and am almost 100% pain free at this moment after moving around in the hotel room, packing things up and preparing my first breakfast.

Dh is in the shower now. Then my turn, then breakfast which runs until 11 here.

We'll head on the road at lunch time and go as far as a Costco along our way because we need some stuff and this will save us a drive into the city next week.

Home is no more than 2.5 hours from here so we'll just take it easy along the way.

Got a nice thank you from our cousins for helping out yesterday. But really it was seeing how totally overwhelmed Aunt was that made it worthwhile even if we could only help a little bit. The adrenaline had worn off and she was so frail it was shocking for me since I haven't seen her for 2 years.

Good morning, villagers ~

DSis's party was fun. The weather was cloudy and a few sprinkles of rain at first, but still plenty warm enough for the kids to be in their swimsuits. They had a blow-up water slide for the older kids, a slip-n-slide, and a little plastic wading pool full of rubber duckies and beach balls for the toddlers. Such a good time watching all the kids play together. DSis was disappointed that it wasn't blazing sun and hot; I was happy to not be sweating for a change, and the kids obviously didn't care, they were running around.

Her yard is big enough that for the adults, there were games of bags and one I hadn't seen before that someone called BeersBee, which involved a water bottle on top of a pole that you try to knock off with a Frisbee while your opponent tries to catch either the Frisbee or the bottle. Both sides have to play with a beer (or other beverage) in 1 hand so they're forced to do the throwing/catching 1-handed. I didn't see any indication of rules about when to drink. I don't have enough practice with a Frisbee to be coordinated enough to be any good at that game, but some of the players looked like they knew what they were doing.

I didn't stay very late. I left when it started getting dark because there's a bunch of road work on the highway that I didn't want to drive through in pitch black. I did have a nice long conversation with DCousin's widow. He's been gone for 3 years and I haven't seen her for at least 2. She and I have never been close, not for any particular reason but just because the family is so large, and DH and I live so far away from everyone else. It was good to catch up with her news about her job and their 3 college-age children.

Not much planned for today, just general cleaning around the house.

Off to make coffee and cuop, bbiab.

Harriet ~ Loved your mini-date with HRH yesterday.

Dee ~ A baby alpaca, how adorable. I've only seen alpacas once, many years ago at a museum event about different types of handcrafts. The alpaca owner was selling wool and brought 2 alpacas along to attract people to his booth. He transported the alpacas in the back of his minivan. He said they liked to go for rides like dogs, and were very curious about everything around them. I remember they made a pleasant humming sound.

Lynlee ~ Happy news of baby granddaughter, healthy even though early.

Kathryn ~ I'm glad your time with family had such a good result to offset some of the disappointment about the hotel room. I hope your drive home is pain-free.

Ready to head off now. Wow, before 11! Normally it is a push to get out of a hotel by noon so that lets you know how we just don't feel like being lazy and relaxing here.

We'll probably be home by early afternoon because dh wants to lie out and listen to the baseball game. We do have to stop for groceries on the way home, but just salad and fruit.

Hi everyone!

Texted with my brother last night. My dad had a lot of visitors yesterday. He will also have a few visitors today. My dd wants to go up tomorrow night so I will wait until then to go. I will also be there on Tuesday and Thursday when he has a specialist on one day and a procedure on the other day.

A huge moth flew in last night, so Mike wants to "clean" today. Which means he wants me to do all of the laundry and he will move his stuff from one surface to the next without actually putting any of it away.

I can do that.

Kathryn, it's nice that ds felt so comfortable sleeping there at aunt's house. That's the kind of thing they'll chat about later.

BookSaver and Kathryn, glad you each had good extended-family times yesterday.

We did not try church today. Dear aunt of the many aprons actually called me and suggested we not try it. She felt it would be a tough morning for me. We have had news from the church, though, in the form of an email I thought would include my ddad's death, a church workday, etc. But instead it was letting members know of another death just yesterday and also of a lady who has gone into a hospice care place after a rapid series of events. Both these things will be difficult for the members today, and in a way I wish I were there, but in another perhaps the attention now needs to be placed on those needs.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, MR. & MRS. ELLYPHANT!

Last night, both of my shoulders were absolutely KILLING me! In 2010, I had 11 months of shoulder PT with rotator cuff surgery in Nov. 2010. Last night, when BOTH shoulders acted up, DH and I searched for my shoulder book, with exercises in it, but we cannot find it. I got out my PT folder, full of sheets of exercises from my physical therapist for that year. I also, , had DH help me put high-up hanging tops down onto low bars, in the closet, because reaching high was hurting me. He put lounger dresses on the hooks on the back of the walk-in closet door. I put on an athletic bra, which helps avoid shoulder pain, because there is no strap across the shoulder, got dressed, and came out to the great room. I looked at DH and announced, "My shoulders are fine today! I picked up 4.5 grandson and put him on my lap yesterday, so I think that's why my shoulders hurt so much last night!" I'm much better today, think DD has my shoulder book, but will occasionally do the PT exercises, to get stronger and avoid this stuff.

It's sunny here, will be in the 80's today or about 80*. I'll concentrate on writing letters and logging 1,300 words on a short story, which needs to rest. I'm not sure if I should make this my last short story by the deadline on Fri. or not. They'll have 3 by then, but there is a possible #4 one in "the works". However, the more I think about it, the more I dislike the storyline because it's starting to sound corny to me! Not realistic enough and the reader would figure out the story far ahead of time.....

I need to catch up on snail mail desperately, too. And Sundays are days to kick back, be spiritual, and not having to work your fingers to the bone. We need to relax today, DH and me, from having grandsons for 10 days. I might make some "me" time, too.
