Success on Tuesday

Today while talking to dm, she told me that she is turtle sitting this weekend. The owner of the beauty shop that she works at will be out of town and asked dm to turtle sit. It is a small turtle. Dm asked her if she could just leave it at the shop instead of at the owners home. The turtle spends more time at the shop than at home. I was teasing dm and told her that she could go into the turtle sitting business.

This morning dd1 and I walked. Then we went to dd2s shop and defrosted the gelato case. We had emptied it last night by putting the plastic wrapped containers in the chest freezer. Today we turned it off and dd1 cleaned the case and I washed the 9 stainless steel containers that hold the plastic containers of gelato. Dd1 dried them for me and they are ready to go when dd2 gets back. The store was closed last Friday but someone had scheduled a party and one of her workers opened for it. This gal was suppose to empty and defrost but didn't. The store will reopen this Saturday. Someone had scheduled a party so dd2 decided to go ahead and reopen then.

After I got home I mowed. Dsisil that we are going to visit called. Then dm called. It was 1 before I was able to shower. Then I went to the grocery store and bought a few items. While there I did my banking by getting cash. I am so glad that I can do my banking there and don't have to go to the main bank.

Dd1 had called while I was gone. She picked me up and we went to dd2s to get the mail, put up their trash container and check the house.

I have not heard from dd2 since Saturday night. I am assuming everything is going fine, otherwise I would be hearing about it.

Hello, all!

Was thinking that today should be renamed "turtle Tuesday"! Three turtle stories so far...love it. I have been a bit of a turtle today...Daily chores are done, but nothing extra. The night is young, so I may accomplish something yet.

Jumping in where I am. Haven't stopped by PWYC in almost two weeks, even though my intentions to get here were good ! Life is good, too -- just busy. Today I did a catchup in the kitchen (hey, that could be a book title ) after running some errands & stopping by the farmers market for tomatos, corn, & cucumbers. Got a late start on clothes laundry when I got home & last load is in the dryer now. I'm about to start dinner --cheesesteaks for us here tonight -- & am debating if I want to water the flowers first or put it off until tomorrow morning.

The gd I was talking about earlier is the one from FL -not our dsgd13, LucyLee. Still haven't posted in J&C. My brain just isn't working well and is tired.

Dove, very veggie-smart. I've been meaning to get by the farmer's market for weeks, maybe months. It's only on Sat mornings and never seems to work out. Thankfully, we are producing our own tomatoes, at least.

My late dh once saw a turtle crossing the road and stopped the car, got out and lifted it on across out of harms way. DVetNeighbor was the next car by, slowed down and called out, "My Hero!" The children laughed about that so much.

OKay won't want to hear this, but when a much younger dd-now-14 and Ken in Canada took a walk and saw a turtle, he advised her not to pick it up because there might be bacteria! Later I started wondering about all the toads she'd brought to show me!

Made an online order. Like Cowinkie (to whom I send best sewing wishes), I'd been searching for a comforter but found nothing "in person" as she did. Dd14 saw a photo as I scrolled by online and said she'd like it because it reminds her of the way the room was when she shared with her sister until age 4! I didn't know she could remember that! Anyway, Laura Ash ley, so obviously I jumped on it - have always kinda wished for a Laura A room, though this won't be one of the gorgeous ones with lush drapery! If anything, I'll use part of the bedskirt that comes with it to sew little cotton valances. (bedskirt will likely be too short) I compared prices and got it for a big discount, 40 percent off the price shown at a dept store online. If it arrives and is as high quality as I hope, I'll give a recommendation for that discount site here.

Trash Day tomorrow, so handling those bags and recycling. Someone mentioned on my last recycling day that I was taking it off. No, a truck comes and fetches it, like the trash. Different truck, and only every 2 weeks.

Out to the pharmacy on an errand. Also found wedding wrapping paper for the shower. Found another small child's gift to add in - magnifying "glass". Also coasters, since if we wait on me to make some we'll be waiting a while.

* I just like to note how many times I get to say, "Sew".

The only turtles I deal with are the ones made of chocolate, nuts and caramel!

I've done nothing today except help dh clean up the kitchen after dinner, some heavy duty thinking about the sermon and making 12 single-servings of hamburg chowder.

I had hoped to be in bed by now, but as usual everything takes longer than I think it will.

I have everything ready to put into the suitcase now, and sure hope it all fits. Last year when I went to a similar thing, the only class supplies I had to take were a small basic sewing kit and some paper for taking notes because almost all were lectures/demonstrations. This time I'm taking several hands-on classes that require larger tools and supplies from home instead of buying a kit from the teacher.

If I run out of room or if my suitcase feels heavy, I'll just have to take out some tools and rely on "the kindness of strangers" for borrowing things. I've already reduced my clothes and personal care items to the fewest possible.

DH says it is ok if he is late for work tomorrow, and he doesn't want to leave home any earlier than he normally would leave for work. That will cut down on how long I'll have to wait at the airport for my mid-morning flight, and I can sleep a little later.

Break time's over, back to packing.
