Today is the first Friday of August. How will you spend it?
Today is DGS's 20th birthday. Not sure I'll get to see him today, but probably will on Sunday. Having a small graduation party here for dgd18 (his dsis). I know dShelley would be so pleased to see how close these two are at this point in their lives.
Dh's nurse will be here very soon -need to get my dishes going before that happens. Doubt she'll be very happy with his bp or the continued swelling. This most likely is her last visit. She's been coming for 8 weeks. Now that he's being monitored at cardiac rehab, she's not allowed to continue visits.

Re: FIRST FRIDAY
Good morning! I hope I don't spend today finding something to wear to this wedding tonight. Now I'm all edgy over it after seeing all those thin leggy ladies last night.
Dcleaning lady called to say she won't be here this week....I guess I can live with it. Thinking that by the time I'm done being president of temple maybe I can take over cleaning again. She's not doing a great job and I'm seeing cobwebs everywhere too.
Need to change and take ddogs to walk before it gets any warmer. Kind of a relief not to be scurrying around cleaning up and needing to stay out of way of cleaning lady this morning.

Re: FIRST FRIDAY
Just posted a prayer request in J&C and really need an 'instant' answer. All prayers welcomed. Sometimes I wonder how dd and dsonil are going to weather all this.

Re: FIRST FRIDAY
Good Morning!
I slept well last night but it came in chunks of deep sleep. We are working on changing before sleep habits (no TV/games/pc). We took baths, started LOL, DW and I read a book to LO and then turned the light off. Sounds simple but it is a challenge to change.....even though the change is for better.
Today DGS16 will be joining us in our activities. I have a list of things I would like to get done, but won't be disappointed if all of them can't be accomplished in one day. I want to enjoy the process and be happy with best efforts.

Re: FIRST FRIDAY
Dee, I will agree in prayer before reading.
Lynlee, I nodded at this quote from you last night. "Sorting it out oneself while doing what one can seems to be a theme I encounter a lot lately." I'm sure the insurance folks will do what they can to keep you as a customer.
Things aren't going well here today. HRH rushed out for take-out breakfast this a.m. thinking, I suppose, that that helps somehow. (I told him I will just put mine in the fridge and have a fruit breakfast.) Anyway, when he got back he was in a mood. It's like he takes on the hustle-bustle of the morning traffic or the frustration of the line, and brings it home with him.
I needed to make ONE phone call before getting in the shower this a.m., and spent a long time on the phone finding out they don't open until 9, finding out they then have a busy phone line for quite a while. I finally got through for a 2-minute call and in that length of time, HRH got into the shower before me. Frustrating. He has absolutely no Saturday deadlines for a shower, but if my hair doesn't get washed early it's so thick and long it will still be wet when dd's family arrives. If I tell him this, he'll say he told me to take the time for myself to go get a cut. He doesn't realize that "taking time for myself" is an upsetting concept when there's a deadline.
Time to stop complaining and make different plans. Women are the adaptable, the interruptible sex.

Re: FIRST FRIDAY
Good morning! I can't believe it is August already.
Happy Birthday to dgs and Congratulations to dgd, Dee!
We got back last night around 11 pm. It was a really good trip; we went to Sleeping Bear Dunes in N. MI. It was very pretty, on a very nice beach. We did some hiking, some dune climbing, had a lot of beach time, lots of campfires, lots of s'mores
, had a bonfire on the beach. Most of us went to the cute touristy village nearby for coffee or ice cream at some point. 5 of the small group families were there. We were just missing physics prof. + her dh.
S2, dh, and I got to the campground at 6:40 a.m. Tues. to get sites. This campground is non-reservable, and the office opens at 8 a.m. No, we were not the first in line. We were #5 in line, to be exact. It worked out well; we were able to get 3 sites next to each other.
We are done with our summer travels now, except for possibly one more short trip in 2 weeks with S and R, but we're not sure it is going to happen. We never got plane tix - never even fixed a destination. We've been too busy. We have all gotten a 4 day window blocked off on our calendars, not necessarily easy for dfriend R, and that is as far as we've gotten. The fallback is a road trip or train trip to Chicago, but we're all (including S and R) feeling a bit travel worn at this point. . . We'll see.
Goals for August:
- put together and execute baby shower for S and R on Aug. 10 (co-ed per their request)
- get moms group child care staff shipshape; I need to learn how to "re-hire" the old ones and hire new ones. I'm meeting with a likely new one next week and need to talk to/ meet with the ex- child care coordinator beforehand.
- put together and execute uniform fittings for two of the bands (about 140 kids) on Aug. 12
- finish job applications
- get back into healthy habits of eating and exercising
-- this sat here for a while as I helped dh re-load the dw with the first load of camping dishes.
Goals for today:
- a.m. routine
- laundry
- finish unpacking and putting away camping stuff, though I think dh has already done the bulk of it
- groc. store
- Target
- work on baby shower last minute invites (S and R keep adding to the guest list)
- phone calls/emails for moms group to (1) figure out how to get info for hiring child care workers and (2) start the process of scheduling the first steering comm. meeting
I'm sure there is more I need to do, but this is a start!

Re: FIRST FRIDAY
Nurse has been and gone. Just love having this gal come -her personality is a plus! She wants to keep seeing dh next week because of his swelling and blood pressure issues. It will all depend on what the insurance says and her supervisor. She wouldn't even take him out for a short walk today because his bp was too high.
Going over to see dd in a few minutes. Know she's pretty distraught right now waiting to hear back from dsonil.

Re: FIRST FRIDAY
Both DD's and I have been chatting about how we're able to multi-task and our DH's are not. Like when they watch the kids nothing else gets done. "What were you doing today that nothing got done - I watched the kids" - meanwhile chaos all around.......Harriet wrote:.

I've done a bunch of filing. Going through other folders and stacks of papers in office, tidying up the mess back here. I have the a/c people coming at some point today to install our new air handler. Several things I'd like to do, but after my busy day yesterday I'm a little short on energy, so we'll see.
Dee, I hope the nurse can continue to come. Know how much that helps just to know a medical person is coming to check on DH while things aren't going swimmingly.
Twins, don't worry about leggy women around! I'm sure you'll be beautiful!

Re: FIRST FRIDAY
He he!! I am much more interruptible than dh. I actually don't think he realizes how much he sometimes interrupts me.. . . . However, dh multi-tasks much better than me. I used to leave the kids with him and come home to find he had not only played games with the kids, but he had also cleaned the house and generally gotten much more done than I would have in that amount of time.
