Silly Sunday

DD called. Dgrson woke with "pink eye", cannot come now, but she's coming down. It's bright, sunny, and beautiful outdoors. Been working on a pen pal letter. It'll be nice to see DD again, without any men around, too.

Church was wonderful this morning. We had a group of about 60 out of state visitors that were attending their family reunion nearby. Several of them sang and received a standing ovation. They were amazing. However, they were wearing dress clothes that were not designed for our type of weather (layers of clothes, hosiery, suit jackets, etc) We could tell the heat was REALLY bothering them so 3 of us stayed busy moving fans and handing out cold water bottles through the service. Thankfully none of them passed out and seemed to be doing okay when they left (other than being extremely hot).

Lunch was at local café with 8 friends. Good conversation, good food along with great service.

Next up with laptop project = scansnap manager installed. Wonder if there is a file containing all my customizations to this software on old laptop? Over the years, I've tweaked it until it is perfect for how I use it.

Home. Exhausted.

Yes, I managed the change in just the time it took to read the Epistle. But I stayed at the back of the church for the psalm and came forward during the singing the response to the psalm. I had a senior help me with the zipper. She was delighted to be 'in' on the surprise.

They chuckled in the right places so heard the sermon. I stayed for a while after church (pastoral care.)

Headed for lunch and stayed two hours there. Had a great visit with our musician. We really miss the visiting we do during choir practice so it was great to just sit and talk (and talk and talk!) Molly's Mistress's sister works at the pub so I caught up on her news as well. I really must drive down for a visit now that I'm better.

The second service was almost full. Only 2 empty chairs but two others sat out in the hall because they find the room too crowded. Attendance there has increased each week and I get more than I do at a 'real' church. I've added 'coffee hour' to my time expectation and invite everyone down to the atrium multi-purpose area for tea and cookies (provided by the retirement home) after service each day. This week, there was a hymn sing organized by the home so we stayed an extra half hour and sang with my congregation and the others who dropped by.

They are really welcoming and give me lots of feedback (positive) after each service. Ended up doing pastoral care there too (as did dh later during the hymn sing.) Two residents died during the week so people were mourning the loss of friends.

We are home now. Dh will turn off the water and try again to get a working part for the tap. I'll nap while he's gone since I'm just too tired to go with him. Dinner tonight is a light supper since we had a large lunch. And maybe a movie as well as an episode of Doc Martin.

Home again jiggity gig Kooskia days was fun a car show, raft race, & flea market I did not get any thing at the flea mkt! I got chicken chores done and gathered 13 eggs; three were under the sitting hen when I first got home. Watered them and have started unpacking plugging away slowly at that. I'm bushed! LOL Means we had fun.

I'll do a round and come back if I can might sit a bit and rest after I clear off the bed & shower.

We both fed the chickens some treats I saved for them! LOL! I think h. missed them too. Silly us!

I have unpacked laundry is in the laundry room. H. is unpacked as well and his laundry is rounded up to the laundry room he did his first. I've unpacked my journal books pens etc. need to work on putting them away. Clean clothes are put away for the most part. Making some progress. Got some salad plates that are microwave & oven safe and a couple other things to put away still. A chicken mag. to read as well.

One thing we missed was the TVGC [TV guide channel] we were lost w/ out it I was rather irritated the h. was channel surfing I think I was tired had to wait to take my meds. that last night and then went right to bed.

Glad you are home safe, Nancy. It would have been nice to have found something at flea market. TVGC is reality tv channel?

Wow, sorry about the heat for visitors, OKay. How was the cake? I might get dd33 to send me photo of the cake she had done at their house - funny one with lots of visual impact but easy. The one we had here was frozen from grocery and especially old tasting!

Party yesterday was nice enough with basically hot dogs and fixin's. Glad both sons could come though ddils couldn't. Disappointed that the cake was blah, but no time to do a thing personal, and the 4 boys barely noticed. Lots of worry-talk about how to move forward with house repairs, insurance and property, financial, taxes, what unhappy themes. Then our 4 children plus dsil played casual frisbee golf on the lawn with children in and out the door between their parents and me. That evening dd33, dsil and I - with little britches - did enjoy sampling the new Vietnamese restaurant HRH recommended. HRH and dd14 took care of the 2 older boys. Little britches was angelic the whole time, coloring pictures. Dstepson and dsonil went to a formal frisbee-golf game early today, with HRH's brother and another friend.

Dd14 also has been dealing with sobering thoughts lately about how the school year is going to be, with virtually every girlfriend gone, one way or another. Several moved, several at other schools. She says she sees herself back to loner status again as a sophomore, after a relatively social year as a freshman.

I had to nap, of course. Need to snap out of it all and try to take baby steps through routines. I am so deadline-oriented right now that I feel I'm losing the war because of concentrating on battles. Dd33 says she had fully expected for 2 months following her grandfather's death I would be having "lost days".

DH and the boys went by way of Portland, Oregon to come up I-5 and home, but it was fine until they got into Chehalis-Centralia area, which was bumper-to-bumper traffic. They got home about 3:30 p.m. The bench and trough-turned-planter look great on our patio.

DD came while they were gone. I got 2 depression glass bowls, a ram's head from Greece, jewelry, books, and various other things I can certainly use.

Grson-16.5 is making woven bracelets with my DMC Embroidery Cotton. He'll make me one, too. The other Grson-13 is playing XBOX in our room.

We're about ready to have dinner. DH is fixing it. Dinner smells good. He loves cooking dinners. We do our own meals for breakfast and lunch.

Got all the laundry done including sheets and bathrobes. Still haven't done the work paperwork. Not all laundry has been put away yet.

SnapScan software installation took forever to download and install. I didn't realize it needed 2 separate installation files so I did it wrong the first time. I ended up deleting the botched software install and started fresh. Then I READ THE INSTRUCTIONS and, the installation worked perfectly.

IE browser is working perfectly now so I might just continue to use it. I exported my favorite bookmarks from Chrome and imported them into IE. If IE browser gives me any problems, I'll dump it and install Chrome.

Cake project is on hold until tomorrow. DGS16 and LO will team up to finish decorating it. LO is excited about waking up tomorrow and being 5 years old.

We stayed outside too long tonight so I'm late kicking off bath & bedtime routine.

church.
My silliness was staying up too late, tv blazing til the wee hours.
The election has been called that will bring a host of silly claims and equally silly counter claims.
I had one of those telephone surveys. My silliness there was to press 8 in lieu of 1 or 2 for choice in PM. Of course it was not happy with that so after being in a loop a while I just hung up.

News from Monday
yoga. ouuu oww. too much difficulty today. I did a lot on my back i/l downward dog etc.
I got a lift there and back.
My ride person was very one eyed about party in power, and who ort to be. Ouch. I don't approve of everything but they have a right to exist. If anything it gives me a push who to vote for. Even so its such a one sided electorate the likelihood of my vote being for a winner is beyond remote. There are a couple of new parties so that may bring a surprise. Though most likely beyond remote also. Sitting member is standing down after a lifetime in there.

Another sunny day here today. I think I'll garden for a bit.
