Finding inspiration Sunday

So I'm back from church very inspiring sermon; but I skipped the pot luck for a number of reasons, h. was home with sore foot, it was freezing in there the a/c was cranked down to sub. zero IMO, I was emotional hormonal week and last time we went to a pot luck no one sat by us so figured could sit by our selves at home.

I've prepared our plates most of it was made ahead. Eggs were only soft boiled so I did not even bother to devil them, corn on the cob was great, salad was enjoyable, I'm happy the stove was cleaned off so I could use it! Cobbler was not very pretty but thawed out so we had that. It was tasty.

There is nothing quite as funny as seeing a hen packing around a corn cob that's nearly as big as she is! LOL! Too funny!

Biked for corn but both stands were not there. Don't know if they are out for the season or we just went too late (4:30). Went back to a church "mother's" home and picked up the church key since I locked my set in the our church on Thursday. We then swung by the church, I got my keys, and we came home. Drenched in sweat. It was only 4 miles in total. Felt a lot farther!

I changed clothes (third outfit of the day) and am cooling off and drinking water now.

Dinner will not include corn. We'll just have burgers, salad, and popcorn.

Still have not done s2s and can hardly stand being around myself. I did do some other stuff that was "Must do" before I get on the road tomorrow.

Obviously, doing a lot of clicking around the internet also.

Nancy, in talking to a new member of our congregation, at the Friday night dinner, someone told them that the seat they chose was reserved, and had them move to another table. I hate hate hate to hear stories like this.

thinking of Dee - who had her light on early morning and hasn't posted. Prayers for you and your family. Hoping its a normal busy, not a frantic busy you are having.

Remebering of Kathryns routines - I'll go pull up my bed covers. And grab my socks. The freeze and gales from down south have a way of cooling us down a mite.

We are ready for the fence work to begin. Dh finished removing the fence. Then he rented a jackhammer to break up the concrete that was buried and surrounding the posts. He cut the 4 large boxwoods down to about 2 ft tall. They are going to stay short and more compact if I have to go out there every day and clip them. Yesterday I moved the extra bricks to the cement walkway on the back side of the garage. Today I mowed and dh ran the weed eater.

After I showered I made and baked a fresh blueberry pie. 2 weeks ago while visiting dsisil, she baked one. I had never had blueberry pie. Ever. The other day they were running blueberries for 99 cents a pint. The new ad has blackberries on sale for 2/$4.00. I am going to buy some of them and make a cobbler.

Guess I better get supper started. I baked the pie in the toaster oven that is in the sunroom. I couldn't smell it baking but once I brought it in, I can smell it all thru the house.

Had a wonderful visit with DSon and family. DGS7 was very happy with his birthday party. He had 4 Grandmothers and 1 Grandfather, plus Aunts, cousins and other family attending. I had cooked an abundance of meats on the grill (hamburgers, hot dogs, hot links, brats, smoked sausage and steaks) for everyone. Everything was set out and served buffet style.

DH and I stayed busy giving rides on various machinery and the horses and donkey received plenty of attention. DGS7 wanted to stay awake until midnight (just to say he has done it) so DH stayed up with him. Then DGS7 climbed into bed with me and asked to snuggle. He spent the rest of the night in my arms.

This morning DGD2 got up around 5am and joined me in the kitchen. We prepared biscuits, ham and egg for everyone. About the time we sat down to eat, DMom arrived and DH returned from opening MPB. DH brought home 2 boxes of freshly baked donuts. There was an abundance of food.

After everyone left this afternoon, I went into slug mode. I'm emotionally and physically drained. I'm taking the rest of the day "off".

Yes, also wondering about Dee today and hoping all is OK.

I've not made good progress on those emails and the 10 more things. Dd and two friends are underfoot, dMacs seems to have a tummy ache and threw up on the front porch when I tried to walk him (probably the Trifexis I gave him earlier?).

I'm trying to finish the temple emails and that will be it, I think. I have a "hit list" going for tomorrow a.m.

Wasted the evening. Well sort of. Dh watched a movie. I cleaned up the kitchen and baked a hot caramel sponge cake (from a mix.) It was so easy, I looked up sponge cake recipes and they look easy too.

It was ok. I had a craving for sweets, that's why I did it. It was that or open the last bag of Gimbals cherry candies. They don't ship to Canada so when I'm out, I'll have to have them ship to the border. I'd drive back to Harriet's source but it is a bit far away. Although I could look up Tractor Supply stores and see if there's one closer to me, and I should take the package with me to the market town because they have a TSC.

It is only 8:30 but I think I'm off to bed.

Yikes, I have 27 things on a li&t to do before we go to the beach next Sunday - not including routines and other stuff that will come up, and not including some things that I've listed to deal with tomorrow before I leave with dd around 11.

Meds for me and ddogs, and that will finish a.m. routine, and I'll go read in bed.

Some inspiration has come to me recently through seeing others' creativity in magazines and then taking it further and giving myself some "courses" by finding out more online. I really feel we all need some creativity, and need the experience of learning something new AND "making it our own" with our own ideas and problem-solving. I didn't know I would like cake decorating for instance, but it turns out what I like is color combinations and textural combinations, and that can be found in many mediums.

Many compliments today on the table, room, and food made me feel like a competent hostess. ( ) Norma, yes I put up those photos in Art, Craft and Needlework. Dd and I muddled through a few frantic moments getting ready, but by the time the door opened to the first guest we appeared cool and calm.

A happy surprise was how well baby niece (now 4) and I get along and how she enjoys following me around, hugging, reading with me. She is a joy. She's not at all put off by her uncle HRH's gruff exterior either, but sees right through him and likes him so much.

DD15 (sigh) had a happy celebration and enjoyed having a bit of fuss made over her, I think.

We are a weary household, though, after so much company. The coming week needs to focus on preparations for back-to-school.
