Saturday's down time

I have always been a fan of Calvin & Hobbes. I was sad when Watterson retired the series, but I have several of the books and it's always a joy to reread them.

I'm trying to rev up enough energy to run a few errands. Post office, library, ATM, dollar store.

Man, this week zipped by quickly.

Ds is home. I really need to s2s so I can be doing things with him, or working on my things alongside him.

I'm in denial so am not crying all the time. As soon as I think about the situation, I get weepy.

Sadie: It would be worth it to write a note to the manager. Start off appreciating all the things he has done for the store and thus for the employees. Then say, "as petty as this sounds, I was very disappointed not to be recognized directly by you on my 10th anniversary. To some people, these little forms of recognition mean the world, and so I hope you'll make more effort in the future to recognize long term employees. It is both good for their morale and also for the other workers to see that loyalty and longevity with this store are valued by management. Anything you do to reduce staff turnover will improve the satisfaction numbers of both the staff and the customers and thus should have a positive benefit for the store's bottom line."

ISP is having problem with equipment today. They suspect the heavy rains are the culprit. I've called ISP owners once and they have called me twice over the past 4 hours while they have techs out checking various points of possible hardware failure. They have a temporary fix in place while they work on permanent one but expect we will have slow connection the next few hours. Slow connection is MUCH better than no connection.

• Lunch @ Hunans with 4 generations, DH, LO, DGS16 and maybe DGS18 (I haven't heard back from him yet)
• Hoodie shopping with DGS16


Goal of today is to immerse older DGS's into family. And for LO and his brothers to have some one-on-one time and also for older DGS's to have some alone time with me to talk. DGS16 is enlarging his friend base and is starting to do activities with them that have been impossible for him to emotionally do before. He is starting to lower his walls and allow others to get closer to him.

I am definitely wanting to do NOTHING today, and I have already received dmom’s blessings towards that end. LOL. I just got through reporting to her about our 36-hour grandma-grandpa duty, and even left out the part about the diaper that required full change of clothing. I did confess to allowing him to get a bump on his head, falling off low bench in bathroom while dh and I were both within arm’s reach of him. I still cannot imagine HOW he managed to fall between us and bang his head on the floor. AND we had a long crying jag the first night, when he apparently awoke from a bad dream. Lots of rocking and viewing of Kipper the Dog helped solve that one.

Must go – dh is offering to run the CVS errands with me. BBL.

SADDIE CONGRADULATIONS!!! I would also, add the idea of handing out those awards pens etc. At the weekly meetings here a friend called them rah rah mtgs. Company wide.

I had a feel good moment this week when dils dad called for an order of eggs he lives out in the country.

The new neighbors have a rabbit hutch with a couple of lop rabbits in them.

I have chili in the crock pot. It was raining when I woke up at five thirty with a low bs #58 I had breakfast then made coffee and went back to sleep.

Coffee (_)p is on for the cyber party to help Sadie celebrate!

Very slow day for me, and I am enjoying it.

Have a lunch meeting with friends and then need to purchase a wedding gift. Two of my "kids" from my drama group are getting married. He is the young man who was in the Army that I was sending treats to. Since I am very close to both I've been teasing them about where I should sit in the church. Both consider me their adoptive mom. I told them instead of choosing to sit on either the bride's or groom's side of the aisle I would just sit in the middle. Wouldn't surprise me if I get to the wedding and find my chair exactly there. On the other hand, an other important adult may be absent from the wedding...he is like their father. My "girl" has asked him to walk her down the aisle along with her own father. My "boy" wanted him to be his best man. My friend is away at seminary school and I haven't heard if he will be able to attend. I have offered to the kids to face time with him during the wedding so he can attend from afar. They like that idea so we shall see.

Weather is cool and I think we will be going to the car show tonight. I am still congested but feeling much better. If this infection doesn't clear up all the way then I will make an appointment to see an ENT specialist. I can't use my CPAP machine until I am over this. In the meantime I am using my handy dandy 3 ball night wear to keep me from sleeping on my back. And I must say from an engineering point of view its working just great...kind of tacky looking, but oh well....Willis eye's me with envy when I get up each morning. He thinks I'm wearing his toys to sleep.

Clutter causes anxiety even when we think we're used to seeing it.

Another useful thought for me today… (and every day!) If I waited until I wanted to do work, I'd seldom do ANYTHING at all.

You know, that made me think. At my school, there was absolutely NO recognition for 5 years, 10 years, etc. Just retirement. Wonder if other schools recognize teachers for long-term service?

(((Kathryn))) – you’ve really got a lot on your plate right now to induce tears… ds traveling so far away PLUS all of you leaving the house… yes… if anyone deserves a few weepy moments, you can certainly feel justified if you have yours.

DH & I went to CVS, and then stopped & filled up Tahoe, visited dmil, got her some lunch… and I think I am going to settle in and be lazy and watch dh watch football. 

Sadie, congratulations on the 10 years. Hardly anybody stays in jobs that long any more. I've read where appreciation goes a long way to keeping satisfied employees.

I started out trying to clean out my email box this morning and 3 1/2 hours later I was about done... printed some stuff out and erased those messages...then I started in on the sna p fish albums we've been sent from families. Had to reset password, 2 tries to get that right. Then, they've changed the site and made it so much harder to choose pictures that I worked and worked on it...finally had to resort to drawing a chart...because as I picked pictures and went to the next screen all my pics were erased and I had to re-pic, very complicated procedure. One album had 170+ pics, the 2nd had 220+, and the last was only 15 but I wanted to enlarge some of those... then the screen comes up that looks like a receipt but I found out too late it wasn't really ordered, there was another click... so I had to get that album out of the trash and redo that one... and of course by then the credit card had expired....... sorry very long story....aggravating!

I am going to get all my pictures organized after these come in the mail. They're from up north family. We never get to see these dgkids and I'm feeling bad about that after seeing the pictures.

Stopped to cuop, I was cleaning the keyboard and the desk and whole office actually. Next week we will have somebody back here doing some work... better get back to it.

Pretty low key day here. Ds has two GoPro cameras (the kind you wear when doing sports) so he's giving one to dd to use on her cross-country trip. She wants to put it on the dash and video parts of the drive then do a stop action video of the long drive.

We were also talking about which shot to use for the photo plaque and ended up outside to try and take more photos. Our house is extremely wide (about 80' including the garage) and we have lots of trees out front. So we can't get a shot of the house that shows the whole thing. Three of us ended up outside trying and then we sat on the porch and talked. Dh joined us and after a while I pointed out we needed lunch (it was after 2) and so we made up a nice lunch and ate out on the balcony. Everyone is a bit introspective today.

Roast beef is cooking. Ds asked we eat in the dining room so the table is laid out. I gave him the choice of china (I have 3 sets) but he didn't care about that, just being in the room so I'm using my set since it goes in the dishwasher. (I also have my grandmother's plus a set bought at auction by accident which I hope to sell before we move.)

I'm struggling more with tears as the day goes on.
