Home and taking a break.
I just did Cos tco because it was 4 by the time I was in their parking lot. Got quite a few things. Had to go back inside and exchange my flour because the bag was sliced and I didn't notice until I went to brush it off before loading it into the car. So didn't get on the road until 4:45 and was home at 5:15.
Dh helped me unload and then we washed and cleaned out the car. It hasn't been done since around the second week of July and we've had a long dry spell so the windshield was driving me nuts and it was looking pretty dirty. Inside was awful as well because dh just washed it before, not vacuum too.
So I vacuumed the inside and gave it a good cleaning. Dh put the rain-away on the outer windows. He does them all and in the winter it really helps with sleet and snow and in the summer the bug smears come off in the rain pretty easily (which is why we so seldom wash the car.)
I had started pork chops in the slow cooker so dh started the rice as I finished up the car. Unfortunately, no one had turned off the slow cooker so the meat was a bit dry but tasty.
Dh is off to visit with a friend so I'll do the cleanup of the kitchen and of the laundry room (which is where I dumped all the car cleaning things when I came in for dinner.

Re: Sunny Wednesday
HRH surprised me when I got home from errands. He had done the wall repairs and painted the walls of the small room. Of course, the trim remains and that's the tough part, plus we need to get some scotch tape off the ceiling and paint that. But it's good to be off to a strong start with a project we've had waiting.
Sadie, wonderful report on avocados. I like to cut one into my salads by quarters. They save pretty well in a baggie in the fridge with the seed left alone. That's so thoughtful of you to help with a long-distance grocery project for your sister in law.
Glad you felt strong today, Harmony.
lucylee, English teacher (this semester) saw dd sketching and suggested she switch her next-semester elective to journalism/school newspaper. In addition to helping with everything, she could contribute assignments as a sketch artist. They are just gearing their newspaper back up after a failed year last year, in which they tried not offering journalism as an elective and having the newspaper only as a club. Turned out, no one joined
mostly because of confusion, and also conflicts with other after-school activities, and they actually didn't publish. Dd's a little excited to sketch to someone else's vision of a piece, which will seem like a "job", not a hobby. If she does this, what do you predict will be requested? Caricature? Cartoons about issues? Odd poses for the mascot? Of course, guidance may not be able to manage the schedule change anyway, but it would be interesting.

WOOT!!!!
Just talked to ds!
He's in Sydney. His flight from Canada was late and while he could have made the Melbourne flight because he had no checked bags, he had been moved to another flight. So he's leaving for Melbourne in a few minutes. He bought a ticket back tomorrow morning to Sydney because he's decided he wants to stay put for a while rather than split the beginning between the two cities. That cost a lot more than he had planned but that's because he hadn't bought a ticket in advance so it is a last minute thing. Hopefully, he'll learn the lesson that indecision can be expensive and to plan ahead.
He is exhausted. By the time he gets to the hostel it will be at least 2 in the afternoon. It is just 10:30 tomorrow, there so he's been up for 36 hours so far. I'll be in bed when he gets settled and he'll be asleep when I get up so we left it that if he sees my skype window, he'll know I'm up and otherwise just check in by email.
I'm so excited for him. I'll feel even better once he gets to the Sydney hostel and I know he'll be settled for 10 days.

Re: Sunny Wednesday
Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes. I had a great day. Dd called and she is feeling much better today than the last few days, so that made me happy, which went a long way in how my day went.
I also had the day off work.
We had Chinese for lunch and neither one of us enjoyed it. Mike hasn't liked this chain restaurant in many years and now I see why.

Evening check-in...Hi everyone!
Kathryn, I'm happy for your good news and talk with ds.
We've had a nice day today. I talked with two of our dsons. Dh had a good report from the cardiologist this afternoon. We stopped at the grocery store for dogfood on the way home, fed them their supper then we went to Cracker Barrel for our supper. All in all a quiet day.
Thank you once again for all your birthday wishes. I am so happy to have dfriends like you all and to have this place to come for conversation and learning. ((Hugs)) ♥

Re: Sunny Wednesday
I got 9 eggs yesterday, 13 today.
Hens are all tucked in for the night. Dinner 8s done now.
The freezer is looking better I added a pie today so that helps.
