Windy Saturday

AH!!! Believe it or not - we are now in Tucumcari. Last week, DH said he only wanted to drive 100 miles per day. So I re-arranged all the rest of our trip to make more stops.

This morning, about 10 miles from our scheduled stop he decided he could drive another 100 miles to Tucumcari. So here we are!!

Now I have to decide if we are going to do 100 mile trips or 200 and where we are going to stop.

Kathryn - I do have several dates in the next two days that I have to hit. So that is why I'm a little ticked at his changing the plans while on the road.

Windmills in Kansas - they are everywhere - thousands of them. And a lot on trucks on the road, too. Which is always fun as they are pretty wide and some of the roads are narrow.

I'm happy to be in Tucumcari as this is where my horizons start to open up. It is also warm 79*F and no wind. And one of my favorite steak places is just down the street.

Service is done (can't remember if I said that.) Dh and I went for a walk and I talked with my senior friend. I've started work on the Sunday School lesson. I only have the kids for 30 minutes so it will be a short lesson.

MT: could you pm me the name of the steak place? Not sure we'll be there for supper time (depends on how well the drive goes) but it would be good to know of it in case we do get there for a meal other than breakfast.

Speaking of steak... ... filet mignon for me, perhaps as delicious a steak as I've ever eaten, and as easy to cut. The wedding was remarkably posh, yet as outdoorsy a wedding as I have ever attended. Perfect weather, sunny with no wind. Many trees kept everyone comfortable. We took a lot of photos, just because the surroundings were so beautiful. This is on the site of an old quarry, and the cliffs around the large pond, wedding beach and covered lanai are extremely photogenic, with outcroppings of attractive trees. Perfect for my nephew, who is himself a chef, and loves wildlife. He really loved the casual wear for the wedding party that seemed right for this setting! We were seated with dmil, dsisil, and also with the bride's father and grandmother. So we got to do everything first!

Excellent conversations with the father of the bride and with another lovely attendee who owns a chocolate factory in Germany - how cool is that. She has recently lost 18 pounds in order to fit into a dress for this wedding, that has been saved in her closet for 11 years! I told her she was quite an inspiration.

Then it was off to the baby shower, and a relief to leave the fancy doin's for my maternal family's little shower in the church fellowship hall. Homey and fun. I got several of the questions right about DcousinMary's daughter's childhood (a shower game). That was fun. I also learned that I do a very poor job of estimating how many jelly beans are in a jar! (thought of Kathryn)

Time with DGS's went well. Truce is in effect between the older brothers. DGS18 was showed his wounds from mishap yesterday. Long story but he ended up in ER with both of his feet cut on glass. He was very blessed in that all the pieces of glass that entered his feet did no long term damage. He has a few stitches and will be sore for a few days, but it could have been much worse.

I just realized my phone pictures has not been automatic transferring to pc & cloud storage. I forgot to configure it when I switched laptops a few weeks ago. Photos are being copied now.

Went out for dinner to an Indian place with dd and her boyfriend. This was after spending most of the day clearing up storage and Mike was in a tossing mood. We threw out an shelf-less book shelf and dh tossed a bunch of cardboard boxes. We also both went through 2 suitcases that had skinny clothes in them. Some of mine still had the price tags on them. We are donating all of it, including suitcases, to a "bible store" near us. All of their money goes towards providing bibles for third world countries. It's a very small store run by volunteers. Mike and I have bought some beautiful things there, and we donate almost 100% of our stuff to them since they opened.

I'm very happy that Mike got into the spirit today. My closet has a floor!

I also completed 6 loads of laundry. There are 2 loads for tomorrow. One load is just one blanket that for some reason was balled up in a laundry basket in a storage area. Maybe a victim of a stash and dash.

Between the hard word today and the Indian food tonight, I will sleep well tonight.

We went to the dump two loads it looks better now and we moved the brooder coop so glad to have that done. Hubby grilled burgers for our lunch yum!

I found sugarfree pumpkin latte creamer after going to three store for it this week!

Inside the house needs attn. But there is always always tomorrow!
