I made a trip through McD's drive through in my pajamas this morning to pick up coffee - seems our coffee maker won't boot up.

I need to straighten for dcleaning lady, then figure out what the day's focus will be. We will go to services tonight for dh's dmom's yartzeit (anniversary of her death, it's been 20 years.) I'm hoping that dd will go with us and that we can eat out together afterwards. Would be nice to have a "family" dinner since we've been on the run since she got home.

... ... hug every one of you

:D ((hugging Cathy)) ! That's so kind. Yes, probably wise to keep dr informed.

Hoping both Cathy and Ivy slept with pleasant or forgettable dreams.

Lilac, maybe a gift you can give your dd is just to let things fall as they will, since some responses could make things worse (for you or her or both). She just took a chance on an option - that's not a bad thing, just one of those "maybe" things. You never know, and at least she kept her options open. Sorry to hear you have had pain even sleeping! Hope it's better soon.

Elizabeth, I started to pooh-pooh the idea that they take 2 days to read an x-ray. But 2 days after I had an x-ray read as bronchitis by my GP, he called to say some other expert disagreed with him, and upon further consideration they had both agreed to call it pneumonia, which it certainly was. So I suppose I'll have to say it's valuable to let whoever wants to scrutinize take their time! ((Elizabeth)) Your family has had too many interactions with ortho folks already! You are due for better news and fewer appointments!

Appreciating sherinjoy this morning for noticing some village clean-up needed. All swept up.

It was my parents' household Desk Day today and that is done.

No comment at all on Twins' Mom's attire this a.m. Glad the trip was uneventful. Early a.m. out-the-door often finds me in a housedress, ankle socks and the two-color athletic shoes everyone makes fun of, but I take the chance. The grass is wet often, and I'm not going out in any other footwear, not changing clothes just to cover my shins. So, I figure, if you're not a little nervous, you're not alive. So far, so good, but it sure will make a good story to tell here if anything eventful happens.

"Finally" - we feel that way here. Dd was sick as a little puppy through the night, and told us WAY too late that a lunch chicken sandwich "tasted funny". That would be over now if she could have gotten back to sleep, but she couldn't rest all night because every time she laid down horizontally she felt sick. So this was a tough morning and may well be a tough day. She needs to nap when she gets home. I wish the weekend was going to be calm, but she has that "black tie" bday party and a sleepover afterward. Oh, my stars ... ... no bday gift yet! So glad I "talked" this out here.

Good morning! I'm popping in here. Today is more low-key. I don't remember when I last posted here? I have stopped in at the other SHE site, as I do from time to time. A different feel from here. Not bad, just different. Still trying to limit computer time, which hasn't been too hard since my schedule is limiting it for me. LOL!

My days have been fragmented due to meetings, 2+/day.
Tues. - to school 1st thing in the a.m. to sign up for P/T conferences (only for GG; dd15 and dd18 are doing great). friend was here 11:30 - 2:30 and the time zoomed past. We really connected; haven't had a good chat with her for years. Then, dd15 had oboe lesson 4:30 - 5:30. Nothing in the evening.
Wed. - meet w/ future cc coordinator to get some things done at the church and a couple short errands (out 9:45 - noon-ish); meet with student mentoree (one of S' students I'm mentoring while she is on maternity leave) on campus (out 2:25 - 4:30); out again for deacon training at the church 7 - 8:30
Thurs. - moms group, out 8:25 (late) - 12:45. Hebrew class 5:05 - 6:05, only I left early at 5:40 to go to P/T conferences. Was home again after 7 pm. I had planned a crock pot meal, so that worked out well. No Th. dinner crew.

Today: I am skipping WW again. I feel a little guilty about that, but my weight is the same and I just would like more time at home today. I am getting ready for a Tar-jay run. At 3, I'm tutoring just one of my tutorees b/c I need to drive dd18 to the gathering spot for the church youth group weekend retreat. The kids are going to the retreat in their small groups; it is kind of a small group retreat. Her small group's meeting spot is in a public parking lot, which is why she can't drive herself. We don't want a car left there over the weekend. They are shopping for their food for the weekend and then traveling. then, I need to take dd15 to the church around 6:15 as that is HER small group's rendezvous point. I don't know when they are doing their shopping for the weekend. . I really like the model of small groups for all the high school kids. They also have whole group youth group meetings and activities, but I think a lot of good and deep things happen in the context of their small groups, as they are smaller, single gender, more intimate, committed to each other through their hs years, and led by more mature adults who are likewise committed to the kids. Dh and I will go out tonight, which should be fun.

Tomorrow, I think I'll need to help dh at soup kitchen as I don't think he has much help yet. That will be at 2. Before that, I'll need to do a quick groc. run and prepare a gluten, dairy, nut-free dessert for small group. One of the kids has these allergies. Then, small group at 5, though we might be late, depending on the help at the soup kitchen. . . .

I completely missed my brother's birthday yesterday, so I need to get something in the mail to him today as well.

I think I need to get caught up on some things here. Maybe later. .. Have a good day all!!

Harriet, I have been missing Emptynester, too. I am anxious for them to get home and see their new bathroom.

Harriet, I really felt like after talking to dd2 last night that they would back out. She called this morning and the move is still on. She did say that both her and her dh want to be back in town, but they aren't 100% sure that is the right house. The main issue is that any house on the market right now that is more expensive with more room, also needs updating or other work that her dh doesn't want to do. Especially is they pay a big price for it. The positive side to this house is that with 2 double garages, there will be room to store as much as they need to store, in one stall of a garage. She is being brutal about getting rid of things. Any toys that are age appropriate for the daycare will be donated rather than sold at a garage sale. As for clothes, I just UPSed a box to dsisil for her dgd. The boys clothes are being given to a friend. Then their clothes and dgd17s are being taken to GW. When she has a garage sale, she is selling a bunch of furniture and lots of stuff. Their garage will hold 5 cars so there will be plenty of space to have it. Even though garage sale season is about over, her address will bring them in. I need to start digging things out to get rid of. Just because I have the room for it, doesn't mean I need to keep it, if it isn't something I really want or need.

I awoke to dh saying that we were having rain mixed with snow. By the time he left for work, it was all snow. The ground is covered and it is still snowing. Just straight down since there is no wind. It looks so pretty. Dd2 and I were on the phone when dgd4 woke up and looked out the window, she said "It's Christmas!" Dd2 told her no, it's just snowing. Dd2 and I are upset that our dhs are too stubborn to turn off our sprinkler systems because it is suppose to be in the 60's tomorrow. I hope they didn't make a wrong decision on that. When I went out to pick up the paper, I walked very slow and carefully.

I am planning on staying home and cleaning today. I wouldn't even do my hair or makeup after a shower, but I might need to meet xsonil at the dentist with dgs7. Dgd17s car was finished after having a new transmission put in and picked up yesterday. Since she has wheels again, dd2 was going to see about her doing it. I hope so, my car is clean and won't be if I get out today. But I need to be prepared, just in case. The kids don't have school today due to inservice.

((((Cathy))))

Guess I better get busy, before the day gets away from me.

Good morning, villagers ~
I giggled at Twins'Mom's pj run to McD's only because I also had to go out in pajamas first thing this morning. I heard some commotion outside the back door and looked out to find the big white dog that belongs to the neighbor across the street. She loves to come here and chase the outdoors cats. This time she was dragging a long chain, and it had gotten tangled around our deck, so she was pretty excited about being caught. She's sweet, but not well trained -- knows "sit" but not "stay" which made it a challenge to untangle a large wiggly dog. Luckily I was already wearing a sweatshirt over my pajamas; I just slipped on crocs, grabbed my keys, and walked her back home knowing that any kids on their way to school would be getting a good laugh at the fat old lady in her frumpy outfit, no makeup and wild hair, being pulled down the road by a huge dog.

I'm in a quandary this morning. We have been looking forward to DH's nephew's wedding tomorrow. I don't know why I had the impression that it was going to be rather casual, maybe just an assumption because bride & groom & their parents are always very casual.

Received an Email first thing this morning from DH's sister talking about seating arrangements at the reception. Clues in the Email -- first, that there are formal seating arrangements (!); second, that the wedding is at 1 but the reception doesn't start until 4. She mentioned a keg and cash bar, so probably a full meal unless they plan to chauffeur a bunch of people who have been drinking without eating.

Readjusting to accommodate both that this event is going to fill up all afternoon AND evening (which DH is going to hate even though it's his family), and I'd better figure out a much more dressy outfit.

The clothes are not the problem, I have several skirts. It always comes down to the shoes. :|

I just looked out and the snow is getting heavier. Dd2 called after she dropped the girls off at daycare and went home. She said there is a lot more snow piled up out there than in town. Since she is part time, her inservice is this afternoon and that's why she can't make the dentist appt. I really can't see why dgd17 or I would have to go, since their ddad is bringing him, but if pressed into service I will go. My car can always be washed, it's just that I am lazy about that and try to avoid it if at all possible.

Better hit that shower.......

Here I am again, doing my anything to avoid the shower and get busy routine. I called and moved my next hair appt back a week. She was so scissor happy that 16 days later it has hardly changed. I was not sure if I should move it back 1 or 2 weeks, so settled on 1 week.

I think I will call dd2 and cut to the chase and pin her down about who is going to the dentist and the why of it.
