ooooh, I like that! Thanks for opening us up this morning, OKay!

I'm up.

Dh got up at 7:45 but didn't do his exercises this morning. That meant that the bike was free when I got out of bed at 8:15. I'm s2s, I've done 15 minutes on the bike, I've tidied my bedroom, I've put out fresh towels, put away the laundry from last night (and last week) and emptied the dish rack.

Today will be better than yesterday.

Good Morning!

After days of being "ON", I am very appreciative of having an "off" day today.

The only social thing on the schedule is taking LO to attend a birthday party....and I think DH will do that. Mr People Magnet (DH) talks everyone including some local workers who don't speak English. They do speak a few words of English, but rely on their children and wives to do most of the communication (interpreting). ANYway they invited LO to their child birthday party today. I might go with DH & LO to the party, however staying home having some quiet time sounds soooo inviting.

This week DH finished up preaching 8 out of the last 9 weeks. Our pastor should be back 100% this week. >>>>more sigh of relief for having that extra activity off the schedule<<<<

This week I started jotting OMM (On my mind) items on 3x5" cards and leaving them stacked with only the top priority OMM card showing on top of the stack. This has been working well for me. I can relax because I've captured the item and don't need to keep thinking about it. The card will keep it from being forgotten. As I'm working though routinely cards, I can made the decision.....should I spend my time doing OMM card or routinely cards during this time slot? Narrowing down and simplifying the decisions was my goal. The OMM stack current has 11 cards waiting to be done. The OMM completed stack from this week has 21 cards. When I started doing capturing OMM it was just so I wouldn't forget, I didn't think about being able to review what HAS been done. It feels good to look through the cards and review those things that were accomplished.

Good morning, villagers ~
Trying to get some work done before we have to take off for the out-of-town wedding. I'm not sure how long the drive will be, maybe a little over an hour?

As I suspected, DH is not at all happy that the event will take so many hours. I reminded him that the long break between the wedding and the reception is when we can be doing all of our visiting with the family, then we don't have to stay as long after the meal. I agreed that we would not have to stay for the dance. His family ought to be used to his anti-social ways.

I hope Tobias feels much better by now.

Kathryn ~ It must be helping that in your travels you have stayed in many apartments in other countries to give you a better idea of what works for efficiency and what doesn't.

Okay ~ That's a nice added benefit to OMM cards, to see the finished ones stack up.

Reminder for Lilac:
It is a nice house but we keep remembering our move 2 years ago and saying over and over, we aren't doing this again, anytime soon. So. we. are. not!

Oooooh. I am starting the day with temple stuff OMM from snarky emails. I'm eating my oatmeal and need to be out of here soon to get dMacs to PT this morning. Don't know what the day holds - dh probably wants to watch "his" football game this evening, and he is playing tennis this afternoon. Dd wants a trip to Michaels and/or Hob Lob, don't know if I'll send her w coupons or get drawn into going myself. (Not a bad thing to do, of course....)

I write down OMM items in my notebook. I have a main page for each week. I just thought of 2 more things this morning, but they have since gone O(out)MM. . . How does writing down OMM items work when one starts to become senile? LOL! :)

Today's schedule is simple. My main goals are:
1. groc. store run
2. make a gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free dessert for tonight. (I can always pick up sorbet if this is proving too difficult or convoluted.)
3. Help with soup kitchen 2 - 4-ish. Dh says I may not be needed after all, we'll see.
4. small group 5 - 9-ish

Dgirls are off on the church youth retreat this weekend, so it is just dh, me, and GG, who hasn't appeared yet.

Went to bed after 1 a.m. - got sucked into a book, which was a lot of fun. Got up after 9 a.m., not so good. I'm s2s-ed and drinking tea. It is gray and drizzly again.

LOL at the reminder for Lilac! I'm no good for her because I happen to think she should make the move to the smaller house. Less upkeep, less renos to do. Of course, I'm only make that recommendation if financially it costs less to run and she'll make a bit of money (at least moving and legal costs) back from dd since, to be honest she is saving her dd's bacon. And my mindset is my next move isn't permanent so picking up after 2 years sounds good to me. That wasn't what was in her mind when she moved in so obviously a move now seems crazy to her. Oh, and ask me in 2 years if I want to move again! There's a good chance the only reason I think Lilac should move this time is because I have no idea how horrible an experience it is!

Booksaver Living in apartments in other cities is what gave us this crazy idea in the first place. And it helps define my 'need' list for the new place. We have only had a few places with balconies and I love that (makes me feel more connected with the outside.)

We've stayed in apartments on the 30th+ floor and while I can tolerate that, I'm not comfortable so I've been pointing out to dh that I really don't want to be any higher than 4 or 5 floors. I want to be able to relax in my home and my problem with heights wouldn't allow me to relax.

Location is important. On transit, open area around (I love NYC apartments but just for short spells - I miss seeing distance and sky after a few days), preferably lots of fun walking routes from A - B (here it is the same walk every day, in NYC there are dozens of routes I can take.) Fun local shops is something we love in other cities. Those last two items are not part of the our chosen complex, which is another reason I'm looking around.

We've stayed in too many buildings without elevators (and on the 4th or 5th floor) so know that is a requirement!

The problem with complex I've picked is that they are high buildings (24 & 26 floors) and what we want is usually found in a penthouse. Last night I found a number of lovely penthouse apartments but they are in buildings with 4 or 5 stories so a perfect fit for me. Unfortunately, they don't have indoor pools, something dh wants (and the place we are looking at has a great pool and resort-like amenities.)

At this point, I'm only checking out what is available. At the end of Feb is when we start looking for real. In this province, tenants give 60 days notice so places coming up for May will start to be listed then. Dh is prepared to take a place early and have both homes for a bit if it means we get into an ideal location.

Today success this week. We have eggs to deliver and some for our fridge and half of the crew at h.'s work buddies want some too, so the eggs are spoken for.

Hope for excellent success at a yd. Sale of yarn for projects. I have so wanted to do a broom stick stitch rainbow colored afaghan I have been fighting with one I started for this yesterday seems I will need to do a practice swatch and keep trying with another go at it. TO not give up is my goal.

I am watching a show on the huns on history channel.
We enjoyed natl. Geo. On netflicks of Lewis and Clark last night. Baby N. Was not so interested in country mouse city mouse as I thought she would be.

Groc. Shopping needs to be done this weekend.
I successfully called about getting some of my pills refilled to pick up today.

Yesterday I got the creativity room dug out and s8me toys, clothes etc. Out for for the baby to use.

Time to journal.

Yesterday dd2 bought some Christmas gifts for the 2 little girls, so she brought them over here until they get moved. She noticed that I had a 6 X 8 notebook laying there, on which I had written,
Now where did I put that.... She thought it might be something that she needs to do, also. I am forever putting something, somewhere and just know that I will remember where it is. Then when I need it, it is nowhere to be found and I can't remember where I put it. I am hoping by writing it down, I will save a lot of time and aggravation in the future. Now I am thinking I need to start writing my OMM things down, also.

Guess I better get breakfast eaten and meds taken.

Aren't cards positive influences? Little problem fixers :) so modest. OKay, that's a great idea for prioritizing with 3x5s. Enjoying hearing about Ivy's 4x6 card ideas, too.

Tobias did have a little success this morning, but he seems to feel crankier after the success than before. Nevertheless, this was the requirement for not having to have a vet visit and being able to get well at home. So that's good. The cat-expert lady at the store says constipation is more common for cats than most people think, and they've been getting over it for years, so I guess I'll stop worrying!

helia, that was young for a calculus class!

Sorry about the washing machine troubles, Kathryn. Isn't it lucylee who is the reluctant expert on this?

Wondering if Elizabeth will hear from x-rays on the weekend.

We have that bday party today - "black tie". Dd is packed. I need to get directions. At this point, we are agreeing to the sleepover, although she doubts she will enjoy it much, only knowing the birthday girl well. Bday girl's cousin used to be a friend, but then got mad at her cousin and pretty much stopped wanting to see dd either, since they knew each other through her. Maybe the winds of drama will have shifted again.
