I like Throw Out the Lifeline - makes me think of the Salvation Army and old hymn sings.
Thanks to those who go on tangents/sidetracks/rabbit chases and tell us about it!! This is how we learn and stay abreast of more than we might if we didn't chat, BUT since we're all rather brilliant here, we're getting brighter ideas than the average!!!
So recently, thanks to OKay for experimenting with a bound photo book creation and Ivy for experimenting with lessons on style variety for long hair.

Thank you to everyone who listens to eccentric or obscure chat here, too. Where could we go to tell someone that we're trying to learn about the random, the obscure, the oddities, if we didn't have each other! I just had to tell about feline laxatives yesterday, and here, even though it is just as boring as elsewhere, villagers take a moment to put up with it!!
Went to SSchool this a.m. only. Generational family friend, whose grandmother loved my grandmother (see this coming?) and who has just started teaching an adult class, begged me to last week. She said magic words, "we (church/community name) folks must stick together" so that was that, and I became the 5th attendee at the class she has started teaching. I can't do it every week, but will dash over there when I can. She is an excellent teacher, and I can jump in with feedback to keep it from seeming like a lecture.
Yesterday dd was asked to arrive early at the "black tie" party and I helped, then, with some preparations. This Mom is stricken with creativity and sidetracking and so I certainly felt for her. An actual red carpet (probably from a party supply store, but impressively large/long) was laid out from walkway, up steps, into house. I arranged many fruits, treats in glassware, which ran out. Used the kind of tape Twins' Mom mentioned in A, C and N thread - Washi decorative tape, black and white, to embellish cheapest possible clear plastic-ware, then, to hold items at table. The only thing I wondered about was the faux "drinks". They were using plastic "martini" glasses with umbrellas and "mixed" a variety of 4 non-alcoholic imitations of specific named alcoholic drinks, so that they would look just like them, olives, cherries and all. It seems to me if you pretend to serve alcohol to young teens (birthday girl turning 14), you are suggesting alcohol to teens. Hmmm... ... Dd won "best dressed" on the red carpet walk.

Busy day so far and only half done.
I started singing in the shower gently, running up as high as I could using the steam from the shower to lubricate my vocal cords.
Had tea with honey and took a shot at both pieces. Both were rough but Throw Out the Life Line was too rough (and I was still down two demi-tones.)
Kept singing lightly to keep warming up the voice. Got to church on time (made the cut veggies and heated the rice and beef chowder before heading over) and kept on singing lightly. Beat the choir director there so gowned up and we practiced the blessing in the basement a capella and then headed upstairs. I was full of beans so had the choir singing a rousing gospel Amen song but the choir director stopped us because she thought she didn't have her music for the anthems and our frivolity was distracting her.
Crisis averted (dh and I had a copy of Throw Out and she found her other book although I could have downloaded the arrangement from our music license site.) We got down to practicing. The first two went fine, then came Throw Out and by then my voice was warm enough I could do the Es with confidence. The actual anthem during the service went great so life was good.
Lunch after was lovely but not enough desserts. No big deal there will be more desserts this afternoon.
I'm home for 90 more minutes, then heading off to our previous minister's covenanting service with three others from the church. I'll drive. Dh is going to the Anglican minister's retirement tea (which is within walking distance.)
Life is good but I'll take a nap to seal that thought!

Quick check-in to say hello. I have several days cuop to do. I must try to get here earlier in the day as I am feeling worn out by the evening.

Yesterday ddil#1 called to say they couldn't come to visit - ds was working till 5 pm - would we want to come to them for dinner visit. So we spent the afternoon and evening and stayed until after 10 pm waiting for dgd16 to come ome from a band/color guard competition. Their group won an Excellent. We took a loaf of banana bread, a loaf of pumpkin bread and a small container of cookies, all homemade from our start of Christmas baking.
I am longing to get back to my regular routine. I have been able to keep up with weekly cleaning and general pick up, but have not been able to do much extra. Dh has been going to have INR checks at least twice/week, trying to get numbers stabilized, and Phys Therapy twice a week. Add in runs to grocery, etc. and by the time I get home I don't feel like starting anything more complicated. It's not all the appointments, they don't take that long, so as the travel time in more traffic and the fact that they are not at set times, which would be easier to work around. I don't know how all you others who do the running around errands, like Twins'Mom, Harmony, Lucy and others handle it and still get it all done, but I'm feeling frustrated because I'm not used to this.
Oh, good grief...enough of my complaining. I'm going to finish up lol (linens) and put fresh towels in bathrooms, then relax a bit before dfam#2 comes. I'll be able to cuop a little then. I miss not being able to come here.....

Have a pot of potatoes cooking to go from that to mashed to take to DS-A's tonight. Only did 5# and hope it will do. Kind of 'last minute' found out that there will nearer 20 at our end of season 'turkey dinner' instead of around 10. But there's plenty of other dishes coming including sweet potatoes, squash & stuffing so here's hoping.
Went to church this morning & had a business meeting right after. It was short as we only had to vote on an expenditure.
Dh has been winterizing RV's a good share of the day. Someone who was to call him by 3:30 to have him do theirs -of course has not. And dh has now put all that stuff in our car so he can winterize DS-A's motorhome when we get there. Leaving as soon as the potatoes are ready to mash. I'll put them in a crockpot to keep warm. Dh is driving his Mom's Comet back to ds's. DS-A let him have it for the summer -needless to say it didn't have much of a workout. It's a classic so needs to be stored for the winter months.
DDILs and others had "Making Strides against Breast Cancer" walk this morning. At the end, dgs8 just plain laid down and sheriff friends of DDIL#1 put 'crime scene' around him. They took an antics picture of "Oh My!" It was funny as long as it wasn't real.
Think dd is beginning to do better now that gd15 is in a residence. So hoping that she finally is 'reached'. Of course her feeling is, "I'm fine! Everybody else needs to change". Yeah, like that's going to happen.
Getting cozy warm, but steamy in here with the potatoes boiling. Guess I'd best check their doneness. TTYL

Taking a break...
Been working on my office for most of the late morning and afternoon. Still have more to do, but at least my desk is clear off. Willis is laying at my feet. He really wants to play, but I told him he would have to wait till later. I think he's pouting a bit
Little behind on this desk work. I had migraines off and on during the week. However I was able to sub on Friday. I have another assignment for tomorrow and Thur. Going to be a busy week for me as I also have a hair/highlight appointment on Thur and a Girlie Night on Friday. My cheese cake cupcakes were such a success at the last gathering and the girls have requested another cheese cake delight. I have a lemon cheese cake recipe that I've been wanting to try and this will be the perfect event to do it. I love making them, but hate having the cakes in my house, cause,well ya know I love to eat them as well. This way I can pass it off to everyone else and then save a piece for Sweetie.
The cheese cake is not not particularly difficult but the process of making it happens over 24-36 hours. Lots of making, chilling, cooking and setting that needs to be done. I'm anxious to try it.
We went to a car show yesterday. It was during the day and loads of fun. We, Sweetie and I, met a couple that had just moved from AL. Course you know I had to introduce myself as soon as I found out where they were from. We spent a good part of the afternoon talking to them. They had just moved to our area this past summer. They own a Shelby 1965 car and are the original owners. After they left Sweetie looked at me and said...Do you have any idea how much their car is worth? Course I hadn't a clue. Half a million dollars and they drive it on the street just like any old car
Don't think I've ever seen a classic car worth that much before...I mean not up close and personal anyway...
I forgot who was talking about the Shutter Fly books, but two years ago I took a collection of my photos and made a Christmas book for my mom. I had several copies made and kept on for myself. It was easy peasy especially for someone like myself who is minus a crafty creation gene. Norma has seen it. I'm going to do another one for this Xmas too. Shutterfly's directions are easy and not overwhelming. Now if you're really good at scrap books and stuff like that....which by the way I am not, then you can get as creative as you want.
Okay...need to get my focus back. I've got the dontwannas, but know keep reminding myself how good I will feel after it is done with. Cy'all later

Did a round of physio, then napped for 15 minutes. Pretty sure I dozed off, I certainly found myself 'floating' in suspension twice so it was very relaxing (weird feeling, though, but probably why it is called drifting off to sleep.) Got up and was just putting my skirt on when CM arrived 20 minutes early. She played 'her/my' piano until it was time to leave. I had time to do up the morning dishes.
The covenanting service was lovely. I had a bit group part as a Presbytery member. Saw lots of people I know. They had sweets so I was able to get dessert at last!
Nice drive with the three ladies from church (CM and two wise church crones - I use that term positively, not derogatorily.)
Dh had a good time at the tea and is home now. He's moved our fax line over from the old fax machine to our multi-function printer. One less piece of equipment in the new place. We'll get rid of our fax line in a few months and go to an online virtual fax receiving service.
Got confirmation that our CM and CF will be buying the house today. He has a big bonus coming in at the end of the fiscal year that he'll use for a down payment and is getting a surprise bonus which he'll put into his retirement fund and then borrow the retirement funds as the rest of the down payment. So he has a plan for part of the financing (with us being the balance.)

Happy Sunday evening everyone! Dh and I just got back from our weekly walk to WF. We are eating our simple Sunday dinner of bread and cheese - by ourselves for a change! We love seeing S and R, but it will be nice to be on our own tonight. Dgirls got back from the church youth retreat 30 minutes late, so we had to hang out after the SS hour waiting for them. It sounds like they had a nice time!
Dd18's small group brought back a LOT of leftover food. They decided to give it to S and R to help with meals since they have a new baby. That means that they sent it home with us since we live a couple blocks away from them. We do not have a huge fridge, but we crammed the fridge items in anyway, and now there is so much food in it that I cannot go to the groc. store tomorrow until we get rid of this extra food. There are also 3 bags on the kitchen counter, 2 are leftover snacks that dd18's small group will use during their future meetings, which are at our house until S is ready to host again. One goes to S and R's house as well. Dh and I will deliver everything tonight, I hope. . .

Maybe similar to the shutterfly books, we have 2 snapfish books which dfriends, Tori's family, made of 2 of our trips with them. They are very nice, I must say!!
