The recent time change made me think of our wristwatches (or some of us may use phones, pocketwatches, pendant watches, secret agent rings,
). Without my wristwatch, I'm a lost homemaker! I'm forever glancing, making sure I'm on schedule. I have a few set-in-stone moments I must attend every day, of course, but I'm glancing to see how I'm doing on known tasks' timing, whether I think I'll have a chance at adding a chore before an appt or whether phoning someone could happen now or later. I glance at my wrist when the phone rings, sometimes, to track how much time I spend chatting (my cousins and I will stay on the phone too long!) When the 5 o'clock hour approaches, I am probably glancing at my wrist again, wondering if there's any business left undone. Lately, I have to look at my watch to convince myself it's not MUCH later in the day than I thought! The time change has me confused still until I look at that trusty wristwatch!
By the way, speaking of secret agents, a phone on our wrists is a little closer to reality, but the new Samsung one is getting mixed reviews. I love these snippets:
"A Pain in the Wrist", "Arguably makes you look like a dork. You have to squint to look like a secret agent.", "Bulgy", "Finally, Dick Tracy!", "Bring an umbrella, you can't get it wet.", "Pretty dodgy for something you're spending $300 on".
Oh, well. The kinks will be worked out on some future models and someday we'll all be talking to our wrists. But like one of the reviewers said, "the future is obviously a long way off".
