Cowinkie - Thank you!
Cookies baked and delivered. Neighbor was grateful and gave me two big hugs. This is a HUGE reminder how quickly life can change. Last week this time all was well with them. This week they have hospice and family (staying in RV in neighbor driveway) helping them with daily doings.

Re: Wristwatch Wednesday
I only take my watch off when I shower. No Idea why I do as it does not lite up or glow in the dark.
I have raked leaves in the back collected some eggs and got 11 yesterday.
Cookies to bake today, we have cereal snack mix to make but will wait so it does not get eaten up before turkey day. Internet is iffy here today on ward and upward.

Re: Wristwatch Wednesday
Me too. I searched a long time before a finally finding a small women watch that had a timer, stopwatch, alarm and light. I use the timer and stopwatch frequently. The alarm is set to go off everyday.I only take my watch off when I shower
Speaking of timer....I'm experimenting with some flameless candles that have timers. They automatically turn themselves on at 5pm and then automatically turn off at 11pm. I've only had the candles a couple of days but I'm pleased so far. The big test is how long the batteries will last. The reviews are positive in that regard so I am hoping they will last for months.

Re: Wristwatch Wednesday
Hello Villagers!
Wristwatch Wednesday: I don't know what I'd do without mine. Look at a clock?
No, actually, I look at both to keep on track, to make sure my watch or the clock is right.
x s2s
x dressed
x finish dgrson-4.5-yrs. Christmas afghan
x had breakfast, meds, supplements
x rested for a few minutes prior to my shower
x wrote DH a grocery list
DH didn't get many things on my list yesterday, he went to a different store and today he needs to go to a drugstore for some things (not meds - other things), and most of all, I'm in need of hand pump bathroom soap.
Have made "plans" for today, don't know if they'll pan out or not.
Have "things" on a list to do, but don't know if I really feel like doing them today. I always feel a let-down after a long crochet project is done, as well as with writing projects, so it's a norm that I'm at a loss.
Have a GR8 day, Everybody!

Re: Wristwatch Wednesday
Hi everyone! My big accomplishments yesterday were: Christmas travel arrangements made and paid for, talked to people about new phone, Girls' Night Out, and completing my LinkedIn profile for my job search. When I picked up DD11, I found out about her school's Thanksgiving meal tomorrow, and signed up and paid for it. (I have now downloaded the school's calendar so I am not surprised by these events anymore). I also got information on volunteering at school, since I will be unemployed starting January.
DD pitched a fit when XDH came to pick her up, she wanted to stay with me. All we had done was eat Chinese and play with the foster kitten. She spent a lot of time getting him accustomed to her. We forgot to do homework, but got a page of it done while XDH was there. As he promised, he took the trash and recycles to the curb (a process that takes 20 minutes on crutches). It remains to be seen whether he will remember to put them back tonight. After DD left, I worked A LOT on the job search, crocheted on a donation item, and started getting the candle drippings off the kitchen floor. (Apparently, the kids were carrying candles all over the kitchen, wax everywhere!)
Today started badly. I had an appointment at 930, which I thought was at 1:00 pm. I missed it and rescheduled it to 2:20 today. I also forgot to get my animal org meeting notes from last month, so I will pick them up after my appointment. Then I MUST do the minutes and notes because the meeting is TONIGHT!
Here is my list carried over from yesterday, items in red are CRITICAL:
DPC about cat crate
Arrange Christmas pet sitter
Dewax kitchen floor - ongoing
Insurance homework
DPC mortgage company to make sure taxes were paid
Make list of things to take from work (personal files and items) before I am laid off - ongoing
Minutes for animal org
Undecorate
Dye some yarn
Job search
Contact job references

Re: Wristwatch Wednesday
When I am working, I am on a very, very tight schedule. Part of the enjoyment of being off work is not having to be looking at any clocks at all over the course of my day. Other than various doctor and dentist appointments that Mike and I have had, we are just floating through each day as stress-free as possible.
I met my dd for her one-day-late birthday lunch today. We went to Yorkdale mall. They are adding some very high end stores in there. This mall has always been very popular since it opened in the 60's and they have electronic notice boards to inform people as they drive in as to which parking lot has how many spaces left. Part of the massive problem at this mall is that parking is always a problem. For example, to meet my dd for 12, I got there just after 10 to insure that I had a spot on a Wednesday. Forget going there on Saturdays and Sundays. Impossible and the traffic backs up onto the highway.
Enough about that... dd and I had a good time. I got home about an hour ago and I am relaxing.

Re: Wristwatch Wednesday
I take my wristwatch off when I sleep at night and when I shower. I think that is it. . . Well, if I'm going to be swimming, then I take it off.
Uniform fittings went well, mainly b/c I had such wonderful, experienced, friendly, take-charge volunteers. They were all band kid moms. They were so fun, teasing and joking with the kids.
One brought snacks for us all, including chocolate covered coffee beans - her way of getting her dose of coffee, she said. LOL! They made it so fun to be there!! At least one will be there again tomorrow. I left all my stuff so I don't need to bring it back tomorrow. We got most of the kids fitted, but there are still a good number to do. I checked in the school at 11:00 and got home at 3:20.
I haven't really thought much about the holidays, just trying to keep my head above water on a day-to-day basis here. I'm not even sure where we're doing Tgiving. I think everyone here wants to stay here, but I don't want to hurt my parents' feelings. I think I'll try inviting them and dbro and dniece to join us and see how that goes. They've never joined us before, so I'm somewhat doubtful. . . . I wish it was easier to navigate these things. . .
I've been snacking too much, got too hungry while at the school. I'm going to start dinner in about 30 minutes so we can eat before i need to leave at 6:45 for deacon training. I suppose I should do the reading before I go -- that will be next.

Re: Wristwatch Wednesday
Well I'm like you Cathy ...... The day I retired I took my watch off and put it away. Never wear it except when I fly or sub. Always took it off the last day of school and put it back on in the fall. Now I use my phone as a watch.
I saw a piece on tv with watch makers. They were saying that cell phones have really effected their business. Seems the sale of watches have really dropped. I believe it.
Have all my shopping done and am home and taking a break. Next up... Dinner. Meatloaf, potatoes and fresh green beans..... Yumm, yum

Re: Wristwatch Wednesday
Went to town with DH, but sat in the car with a file stack of FM info to re-read though. Got part of one booklet read. He got groceries, ran errands, and we got home and put everything away, had lunch, and he fixed the fire, took up garbage.
I'm "weepy" today, I don't know why,
except it might be the letdown feelings I get after a big project. Have to decide if I want to do stories or not, or scrap them this month. Keep thinking about crocheting afghan/final one, #3. Keep thinking of getting ready for Thanksgiving, although DD will be the only one here, isn't "fussy" or "picky" about the house, but want it ready for MYSELF and just doing it brings me pride.
I'm thinking of writing a THANKSGIVING O.M.M. LIST, have it written out on a legal pad, but haven't gotten any further.
The weather's grey out, a storm is on it's way again, only with LESS winds,
, but MORE rain.
Oh, well, at least it knocks down leaves and the grass is greener. I wonder if it's greener over the septic tank?
But for sure, I do know it's greener over the drain field where long big pipes are underground with holes stuck into them for drainage.
We have thistles over the septic tanks and they pumped this summer, so no green over it now, probably. It got all pulled back. I'm "Rambling Rose," now.
I nagged DH as soon as we got in the door, about him turning off the alarm system to a different setting now that we were home, he was putting things away, had an outburst and yelled at me.
It's totally unlike him, his quiet, gentle demeanor, and I cried. I'm in my office now, told him "I'll be a different person when I come out!" ♥
I worked on my calendar, to remind me of things to get done and I especially want to strip the bed, wash sheets and remake the bed before the storm strikes. The rains come in this afternoon-evening, so it's mostly a rain storm, with a few windy areas and a few power outages, so it sounds more soaking wet than anything. I told DH I don't know why I'm "weepy" today.
I slept real well, got my shower first, and have funky-fun hair from taking wet braids out.
Now it's in a ponytail and combs. I like it for a change.
I'm off to go strip the bed, get sheets started, wanted to do snail mail, too. Keeping in touch with pen friends always makes me feel better. At least women understand men!
When DH said that I was nagging him about the alarm system when he was putting things away, I told him, "Well, maybe you should start MULTI-TASKING LIKE WE WOMEN DO????"
It made ME laugh, but not him.
At least I now can laugh, have a smile on my heart and face and feel much, much better. He's bringing wood into the indoor bin now, had lunch and Poppycock. I told him, "Oh, that's just a LOT OF POPPYCOCK TO ME!"
(I was pulling his leg.) ♥ ♥
Have a great later afternoon and evening. Thanks for letting me just post my heart out. It's really helped take my frown and make it into a smile.
I guess that's what SHE sisters are for.

Re: Wristwatch Wednesday
I put my watch on after I s2s and take it off when I go to bed. I just feel kinda like I've forgotten something if I'm not wearing it.
Today has had no accomplishments, either, except walking 4 miles.
I know that's a good thing, but by the time I've done it, it is early afternoon and the day is gone and I have done NOTHING else. I think I've got to train myself to do the housework after supper, like I would do if I were working. Just DO NOT SIT after supper. That should be my #1 rule.
Tonight, though, we're going out for supper, and when we come home, we have to get dgs to spend the night with us. DS has to leave early in the morning and ddil has her phlebotomy (sp?) class in the morning. She'll come get him when she gets through.
I'm really thinking about offering to host our gathering, helia. I'm really REALLY afraid to say anything about it, b/c I'm afraid I'll have a panic attack and dh will be no help at all. I can just hear him saying, "You brought it all on yourself."
* sigh * But it WOULD be so much simpler, to just have dmil & dbil join us here and be done with it. DS & DDIL are staying here this year, and they could see all the family at once... dgs would have his playpen... and they'd all bring the food, so we wouldn't have to do carry-out and could enjoy some of our favorites w/out me having to learn to cook them all...
But I don't know if I'm going to be brave enough to try it or not.
