Thursday PWYC - Favorite Singers

Hello Ladies,

Cold day here.

Downloaded Cher's latest album and am listening to that. Sounds great, the songs make you want to get up and move.

Favorite singer? Really hard to choose. Love John Fogerty's voice both with Credence and as a solo artist. Toby Keith, Keith Urban, Reba. Andy Williams reminds me of growing up at home with dmom. James Taylor, Mamas and Papa, Beach Boys, The supremes, the temptations, Smokey Robinson. Got nearly 1500 songs on my iphone.

Cathy, I was going to say I organize my books by type, non fiction has it own book case. The two book cases of fiction is sorted by author. Some of my favorites have a whole shelf.

Still fighting a cold or something like it. Lots of coughing at night but last night wasn't quite as bad as the others had been so maybe it is a turning point.

Work day for me. Have finished lunch and dishes. Off to the shower.

Back home from church. Finished up another two church tasks here. The supply minister and I had a chat. She said she'll talk to the Presbytery supervising minister about stressing how the church needs a manager to fill all the roles I'm taking on. (What reminded her is that it is Remembrance Sunday and I knew who to contact about doing the reading of the Honour Roll and laying of the wreaths, plus I was busy producing the bulletin and announcements since the secretary was sick.)

She asked me to take two Sundays in December, on in Advent and December 29 plus Christmas Eve non-communion service, so I'll have a busy December if Worship Committee agrees. Christmas Eve is already drafted and I'll finish the full first draft while I'm away. I'll start work on December 29 at the same time since that is a 'throwaway' service (not many come.)

Returned a library book and put the bulletins in my church (last time I was tasked with that I forgot). Have a couple more emails to send and then I'll get to work on paperwork and packing.

Next up - MPB chores. But first I need to decompress a little. I think I will journal about today's session while it is fresh in my mind.

Harriet: thank dh for the link. I've seen it before and 'lost' it (have used 3 of them since first seeing it.) I'm still looking for the lifehack that uses an old cutlery holder from a dishwasher. Can't remember what it is but when I read it I regretted getting rid of my old cutlery holder, then discovered it hadn't been donated yet.

Load of laundry is washed so I need to hang that up along with the other items from my previous post.

Hello! Singers, well I can't pick a CW favorite, though I enjoy listening to some of them. But, gotta mention Barry Manilow (his old stuff), love Josh Groban, and one not too many have heard of: Keith Green. He's a gospel singer from way back who died in an airplane crash. We have all his CD's. It's old rock style.

Harriet, thanks for the link. I read through them all. A few I already do, more I should and one I never would (coaster on drink top, blek, unsanitary and unsafe). But many mentioned that in the comments following. I need to go back and bookmark that site.

Been just puttering around today. Got all the laundry folded, sheets hanging, some hand-wash done and out to dry. Kitchen cleaned up nicely and dw run and emptied. I only run it about 2x a week. If a pot or bowl takes up too much room I hand wash it, then there's room for about half a week's dishes for us.

Juggled some things around in the garage to make room for new covered, wheeled bin the county delivered for our recycling. No more open bins. It takes up more room than the bins, but we found a spot. Now I don't have to worry about paper/cardboard getting soggy if I put it out and it rains.

Hmmm, I have 3 watches on chains (pendants) and 3 wrist watches and I can't use any of them because all of them need new batteries. I haven't decided where to take them yet. I would certainly use one when I go out, especially to church, because there I just leave my phone in the car and I don't have anything to tell time by. I need to take care of all these!

Argh!

I got sucked into writing journal about today's session. It took me TWO HOURS to write it out!. It is time well spent to help me document what was said and process the emotions, but TWO HOURS?!?!?! cRud. I don't know how what to do now. I haven't done MPB chores and now it is time for LO to get home. I counted and there are still 17 (yes, SEVENTEEN) papers he needs to complete from missing 2 days this week. Plus he always has homework. And at least one book to read each school night.

I can't take LO to stay with DMom or DMIL to do his homework while I do MPB chores. I can't take LO with me because the night air makes him cough like crazy (I tried taking him with me last night but it wasn't good). Sooooo......sorry MPB ....you are drawing the short straw today. You are going to get ignored even more.

This afternoon I stopped by MPB and saw a man preparing to wash a stock trailer filled with poop. I went up to him and said "Sir, we do not allow poop filled stock trailers to be wash here. Did you see the signs?" as I was pointing to the signs posted 10' away).
He walked up to me and stood close (intimidating?) and said in a mean voice "I don't care what the signs say. I already put my money in and I'm going to wash my trailer". then turned and walked back to his trailer and started to wash it.
I said "Sir, we do not want poop sprayed all over the walls and equipment. You are not going to wash that trailer here. I will refund any money that you put in the wash".
He turned and walked back up to me standing about 6" away (he was about a foot taller than me so I had to look up to talk to him) and stared at me. I wondered if he would hit me or what.
I remained calm while pulling some money out of my billfold. He took the money and told me "I will never be back here again!"
****VBSigh***** it is customers like him that makes me glad that DH deals with most of them. I took a picture of his truck and poop filled trailer to document my refusal of his business.

Oh, what a day for you ((OK))

I got home from the groc. store at 4:30, but I did stop by home after working at the school to check email first to see how many would be eating with us tonight. Yes, the physics couple is coming.

Band director emailed; 4 kids had left their uniforms in the instrument storage rooms after school today, and he is somewhat irritated. He sent us numbers on them. This happened yesterday too; he is very picky and particular about some things. We learned from the students we were fitting today that he was not in a good mood today. . . Apparently, he does not like the fittings as the process disrupts his rehearsal time with the kids. They are leaving the room and coming back in at various times. It probably is more than the fittings; when he gets stressed, he gets cranky. I know that from ds' years with him. . . Fortunately, our bookkeeping was up to par and I could look in the notebook, check the numbers, and tell him whose uniforms those were - as well as who still needs to be fitted (6 kids). And some odds and ends. . . . So, I took the time to check the notebook and my notes and compose an email reply.

It is 5:10. I suppose our friends will be arriving in about 1.5 hours for dinner. Dh told me he was going to be cooking. I have 3.37 pounds of trout and the fresh ginger he asked for. No idea when he is coming home, though. . . .

I munched on chocolate covered espresso beans this afternoon. Boy, am I still wired!! It occurred to me while I was munching that maybe the espresso beans were the reason I didn't sleep well last night. I ate a few yesterday too -- but I ate more today. We'll see what happens tonight.

Had a dental appointment at 1. Got home just before 5. I had gas, and I think I breathed a bit too deeply. After I got out of the chair, I felt bizarre. I called Mike and he came over to the mall and walked around with me for a couple of hours. The freezing is now all out and I feel much better. We bought a sub at the mall and brought it home to eat.

Back from meeting w dh and congregant finally. Need to take ddogs to walk and dh and I are going out to eat and maybe to a movie. Haven't done most of a.m. routine today or yesterday.
