Back on the train again after a nice visit with Elizabeth. So nice to meet a SHE who I don't have to translate a name for!

We just sat at a coffee shop and talked for the two hours.

So happy to see another successful SHE IRL visit.

DH has left for church. LO is working on homework.
I'm sitting here in conversation with a map expert about a couple of lakes showing the wrong names. Our guide mentioned the lakes were mislabeled on the maps when we were on hike last Saturday. He seemed surprised that it is an easily fixed - all that is needed is to contact the map makers and give them the proof an error exist.

Stopping by to say hello. Must cuops. Has been a busy time around here. Much church work, 2 funerals with memorial luncheons to prepare with some of our members off on a meeting elsewhere. And small group at friend's house but I brought that food also. DH is down with bad cold/bronchitis, though a bit better today. We had a meeting at county office we were able to get to yesterday.

I'll be back after I cuop, hope everything is going well for everybody.

We had a very nice visit with dcousin and her dh. We talked about a lot of different things. She told us that her ddil still has relatives in the Philippines, and she's finally heard from them. They are all right; her dmom was in Manilla and other family was on one of the southern most islands when the storm rolled through. Was nice to hear that. She also told us a lot about her home and where they live in Alaska. She wants dh and me to visit them there some day. I don't know if that will be possible, but a trip there would be nice.

Twins, the Sofer and Torah process sounds very interesting.

Back safe at the hotel for a second time.

The train ride back was uneventful and it arrived just on time. Dh was on the platform waiting for me which was nice since I was a bit nervous walking back in the dark on my own. But the free shuttles were there and I didn't have enough layers on and was chilly, so we took that back even though it would have been faster to walk.

Dinner was to be at an Italian restaurant at 7:30. I knew that from an email on the train but couldn't check out the menu. Was looking forward to penne but when I finally read the menu, it didn't have penne. And just a minestrone soup was $6.50 (pizza was $15 and $5 extra if you share a meal.) I was tired and hungry at this point and got 'hangry' (the newest word dd's taught me) and said I really didn't want to go because it would be another hour before food would be before me and I was starving and cranky already. Plus socialized out.

So dh sent an email cancelling our attending, and we went to a closer pizza place, shared a large pizza (so I have leftovers for lunch tomorrow) and got out of there for $15 each instead of at least $30). And we finished dinner just as the first course would be arriving at the fancy place. Not only that, but the pizza place had a local indy newspaper with a fascinating article on the shops surrounding the plaza here and the shenanigans the owners are up to. Makes me glad I don't buy anything new!

We are back at the hotel again and settled in for the night. We'll get ready for bed now and then watch the last episode of Doc Marten in bed. I'm just having my tea and chocolate mints (part of the bed turn-down service) before brushing my teeth.

I really need to do some writing but I'm exhausted after the day. Not that I did much - spent the morning at the hotel, 90 minute train ride, 2 hour visit with Elizabeth, 90 minute train ride and then dinner.

We are planning our Friday adventure, if dh is up to it since it will be lots of driving. We've been told to take the low road to Taos and the high road back. I'll rest with my eyes closed on the way back, I'm sure. I do want to see the Rio Grande Gorge bridge so we'll do that too. Total driving time will be 5 hours (5.5 if the Chinese delegate comes with us because we'll have to leave our luggage at the hotel and drop him off and pick it up after going to Taos, instead of heading straight to Albuquerque.)

I'm very envious of the strawberry blond hair that hides grey so completely.She claims her mom starting going grey at 19, so I have to believe Elizabeth when she says she has grey hairs. I have to rely on good lighting (and wearing my hair down) to hide the grey in photos (and in real life, it is just there for all to see.)

I didn't get much done at dd2s house today. We went to Men ard's to get some things. Then we went to lunch. Then we had to pick up 4 bags of ice and take them to the store. We were there close to an hour. I ran home real quick and when I went back, she was trying to get the sprayer to work, so she could prime the fireplace. It is a medium or darker brown. It has a thick wood mantle and then about a foot high and a foot deep, hearth. The entire wall and hearth are brick. The wall is probably 12 feet wide at least. Yesterday she tried to roll the primer on. With brick being porous and the grout area, we had to use paint brushes for those areas. We soon realized it would take way more time than we have. She brought 2 sprayers that she had used at the shop and neither would work. So she had to go buy another. Then I had to run and buy more primer. Luckily the hardware store is within 2 blocks of her house. We all try to use that store so that it doesn't get run out of business by Men ard's or H ome
Depot.

The cable guy was there this morning and ran cable to any room that didn't have cable. Then about 2:30, the contractor and 2 workers showed up to start working. In record time, they had the framed in wall down, all the outlets moved out, so they will be flush with the sheetrock. One guy was putting up insulation.

The other day when I was cleaning the fridge, I ran out all the ice. It was frosty looking. Today we realized that there was no ice and no water in the door. We couldn't figure out where the turn on to it is, so her dh will have to mess with that.

Her dh, my dh and dgd17s bf all disagreed with the white fireplace. She had found pictures online of a before and after fireplace painted white and it did look nice. It sure brightened up that family?/living? room. On that level is that room, dgd17s room and the bathroom and laundry room. All of the trim on that level has been updated. On the level that has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, it has dark, original trim and doors. Dd2 is going to have someone replace all the trim, doors and closet doors with new and white. The bottom level that is being finished will also have white trim. She is calling that the kid's cave.

Tomorrow I need to buy some groceries and get cash for dh's trip. Then I need to top off his gas tank, vacuum and wipe down the interior of the SUV. I need to mow and rake leaves. If I get that all done, I would like to go to dd2s new house and get the cleaning finished. If not, I can do it Friday.

The double attached garage at this house is not insulated or sheetrocked. The 2 winters we have lived here, I hardly drove my car because the cold kept affecting the battery. It was a new one and dh wouldn't let me replace it. The problem is my car has so much computer stuff that it drains the battery if you don't drive it enough. Just short trips around town are not good for it. It just seems crazy to have a car that you can't drive, so I had been after dh to figure out a solution. He found a charger that you plug into the lighter and then plug the other end into an extension cord. It can't overcharge it.
With him leaving town for 6 days, I want to be able to drive my car and not his work car. When we lived in Colorado, most everyone plugged their vehicles in every night, if they weren't garaged. I had never heard of that before.

I have been doing a bunch of laundry tonight. I still haven't switched my clothes out. If I need something I just dig is out. I hope to get it done while dh is gone.

Well I am babbling to myself, so I better head to bed. I didn't realize how late it is.

Guess I won't be going to be bed as soon as I thought. I took my bs and the number would be great if I was waking up but it's too low to go to bed without a snack. Then out of utter fear, I end of up over compensating. A vicious circle.......

Many of the fairy tales I found to be just too Grimm. My DD2 cast dispersions on the d isney versions presented and their presentation of women. I do strive for the Goldilocks mean of not too much or too little but - just right.
My view of fairytales changed when I finally read women who run with the wolves, and heard what the real teaching of the stories was. And yes that they are aimed at adults, as are nursery rhymes.The idea that the stories are about wisdom winning over evil, manipulation and exploitation meant a lot to me.

support group - our leader did not think the group could help schizophrenics. ouch. There is enough bigotry re mental illness in so many places let alone within what is meant to be a support group. Not saying it is easy. I need shut my mouth, hush my fingers on this and similar judgments made in other "meant to be for support" places. Welcome to those who are "easy". Others just too hard.
Pulled some vine when I went out to pick up some "over the fence rubbish" . Oh the ways of a 3yo.
