Week is going quickly.

Not a lot of progress yet but today and tomorrow will be the key - if they go well, I might be more relaxed by Friday. My tummy is in knots right now.

There's a little bit of time for the unexpected, but not much. With one of the boys having lice and their mom overbooked today before this happened, I did the 'right' thing and offered to babysit him today. He's 11 so can spend short periods of time on his own but not 9 - 2:30. I sent CM an email last night offering. I'll try and think of chores to give him to do, if he does end up here.

Slept poorly last night, worried about finance paperwork things that need to be dealt with before the end of the year.

I've dropped dh at the airport and am back home. Was planning to go back to sleep but am waiting to hear from CM (since I haven't showered yet, I need to know before I doze off since I'm not sure its right to shower while babysitting.

Washed off the headlights of the car. They were coated with road salt and it was a harrowing drive home (against rush hour flow so there was a steady stream of lights blinding me and I couldn't make out the edge of the road on my side.)

Good Morning!

Today is LO last normal school day of the year. The rest of the week is parties at LO school and early dismissal on both days. Then two week Christmas Break starts.

This week we have set new all time high records at MPB. Several times we have received complaints because the waiting line is too long. One day I counted 7 vehicles waiting in each line (meaning about an hour wait). To say business is booming is an understatement. It is taking lots of TLC from DH to keep up with it. We brought home an extra 1000 lbs of salt (for reverse osmosis system) last night. Hopefully it will last through Christmas week.

We are watching the weather for Saturday. It is suppose to rain which will be perfect to make MPB business pause. If it happens, we are going to use that opportunity to make the trip to celebrate DGD2 (turning 3) birthday. Driving 8 hours in rain at high speeds (70-75mph) isn't high on my list of things to do, but celebrating DGD3 birthday trumps my dislike of it. If it doesn't rain, I'll probably make the trip without DH.

Good morning! We are warming up here. It is already 25*. We're forecast to be above freezing Th - Sunday! But predictions for Saturday night - Sunday are for freezing rain and 1-3 inches of snow/ice. I can't imagine even 1 inch of ice. I'll try to make sure we're stocked before then. Thank goodness we have a generator! This may be a Cmas without power. Hmm.... I may want to make sure the play room is acceptable in case S and R want to come stay with us. Ds will be in dd15's room - b/c GG is in his room. . .

I've been up for about 40 minutes and have done some online research, successfully, I think. I received a call yesterday that a close family friend of dh's family had died a week ago. The conversation ended before I thought of asking for contact info so we could send flowers. The family desperately wants to send a large bouquet; this family was very special/close to them. I have found the obituary for friend, which includes location and time of memorial service. So, I think that is all I need. . .I'll take care of that today.

Dd18's Dr. appt. on Friday needs to be moved b/c she has an exam. . .

OK - off to the games. I'll post a game plan later.

Kathryn, I join you in itching at the word, lice. Dd1 deals with them at school daily. Her school is all the pre-kindergarten age kids. She has several families that have lice every time you turn around. They won't do the necessary things to rid their home of them. Then they send the kid to school and won't answer the phone when dd1 calls for them to pick the child up. Dd1 wears her hair up, since it is shoulder length, to keep from getting lice. Sometimes, she has to pick the nits out, if the parents won't.

I have my cards finished, except for writing one letter. I think I will mail everything else today and mail that one tomorrow. I need to mail my package to dm today but I'm waiting on dd2 to add 1 thing to her contribution.

Guess I better get my shower, etc. and get a move on.

I took the title very literally when I saw it this a.m. and began looking for me. It's not the time of year, I suppose, to easily "find myself". I have a lot of gratitude that the big stressful family event is over. But now the stress of making Christmas nice for more immediate family kicks in. Plus, two different pieces of mail yesterday were impersonal reminders that my estate work is continuing and pressing. DE-pressing might be a better word. Does anything on this earth cost less or require less time and trouble than expected anymore? Are we at 100 percent for "more" these days?

Otherwise, I've managed to have a nice normal day.

OKay, those ARE the normal times! Little boys are wonders.

Nancy, you sounded like you had a happy kitchen yesterday.

helia, please just keep safe, okay? Hoping you can gather everyone and "hole up" for a while, electricity or not, and emerge later safe and sound! Here we so often have to be afraid of ice - it is treacherous in the dramatic, the literary, the ominous sense of the word, and has little kinship with the soft charming snow that makes winter calendar pages.

I've gotten the Morning Daily Card done, with laundry still drying in the dryer. A package should arrive today.

I'm up and BS reading done, bed made -that's it. Now to s2s and get moving.

Dh rented a r ug Dr last night and he and dd got about half the living room rug done. It's a solid aqua color (was in here when they bought the house) and it was bad -lot of which came from gd15.

Speaking of gd, her therapist called last night to ask dd for a dress for her. Seems she'll be coming out of Phase 1 and able to attend their dance. Therapist will stop by today to pick it up. Got dd to wondering what ever happened to this beautiful lacy white dress gd had when she went to the Ranch last April.

Having issues with my keyboard and need to do disable the onboard mouse. Off to do that, dress, etc.

Ellyphant Happy birthday!

Today I am still digging out after cooking day here. We are nearly out of the 9 grain wholemgrain bread we use.

Dgson came here after school unexpectedly yesterday.
I don't feel like I gave him proper home work help.
But when I watched a show on PBS collage students have the same challenges being distracted so it is just something we need to learn to deal with.

The new hens were a hit and made it fun for them and with the tree up and the tree lights in the coop we had some interesting happenings here.

Up from my nap. I've s2s and am eating breakfast.

I'll have two boys. (They share a room and all three are very close so this doesn't surprise me.) When I talked on the phone with CM, #3 was not yet awake. I might end up with three. Tomorrow is the last day of school for all of them.

I've read up on shaving heads as a treatment. CM asked me my opinion. Wikipedia is balanced: easy, chemical-free, way to treat but could have psychological consequences for the child or open them up to teasing. Since we are starting winter break, the hair will have grown back lots by Jan 6, so there's a bonus. Both boys are old enough to ask and get on board with the idea or back off if they object.

I've asked her to get her dh to pick up two combs on his way home (he's traveling but due home later today.)

I can't think of chores to get the boys to do so may just let them watch tv.

Thanks for the idea to put my own hair up. I want to be proactive with protecting myself.

My plan is to finish the Christmas Eve bulletin this morning and then go out Christmas shopping for afternoon and evening (with dinner out at IKEA.)

I have a plan so am feeling slightly in control at the moment!

Oy. Yesterday I felt "out of control" all the day, from the phone calls yesterday a.m. straight through to getting Moe to the vet. Dh had called and left a message in the middle of the yesterday a.m. issues and I didn't even remember the message until he reminded me of what the message was about. He was slightly put out that I didn't remember and I just couldn't do justice to my day when I tried to describe it.

They took a needle aspiration of two lumps on dMoe and both appear to be benign/fatty tumors. We'll follow up in a month when he gets his shots.

Then I stayed up until 1:30 rereading Rebecca. Somehow Joan Fontaine's death earlier this week got me started reading it again.

Already this morning I fielded a long temple phone call on a stupid issue. Drives me crazy that the stupid stuff takes time too.

I've planned for today to be temple biz and getting ready for board meeting tonight. Oy, just rec'd a shocking text from rabbi that the adult son from a family that were long time members of the congregation died in a plane crash last night. The family lives out of town now but the patriarch (father of the deceased) only died last August.

You know, it's no wonder I can't focus these days!
