Just back from the movie. I second Lucylee's recommendation. I really enjoyed it and teared up quite a bit but wasn't sobbing like the lady next to me. What amused me was that the majority of the patrons had grey hair so obviously saw Mary Poppins when it first came out in theatres.

We had a nice dinner at Boston Pizza and are now home. Must finish the sermon NOW!

I am taking a break loaded up the leaves in neighbors trash. Hens have been put in for the night.

OKay, sorry DH's tests were not perfect. Best to catch things early. Also sorry you need to close down your business again. What a winter you've had so far.

Kathryn, I'm sure rest will help your wrist. I used a velcro brace on my wrist after my cast came off. It helped a lot. Gradually I needed it less and less.

Ivy, loved hearing about Tutu. We used to have cats. But DH is allergic.

Nancy, wow Kate didn't wait long did she? I remember seeing a mag. in checkout line about a celebrity with a baby bump, but she just continued to get fatter and fatter and it was just that - fat!

Cathy, how big are your aquariums?

So, after all the mental angst getting that stupid form right, I had to take a nap and I slept for a while. We had another "thanksgiving" leftover meal which was wonderful. I tackled another set of projects in the evening and that is done for the year now. I am making good progress getting through all the 2013 stuff. 3 big things yet to do and I will be ready to start 2014. It helped this year that DH wasn't working, creating payroll the last days of the year.

Hello all.

I have been in a blue funk for the last couple of weeks. Don't know what set it off. Probably Christmas as it is not my favorite time of the year. Also haven't been outside very much so probably a bit of SAD, too.

Yesterday, I made myself get outside and took some cookies to the neighbor up the street. Also talked to some other friends in the neighborhood.

Today, I finally put away the clothes from laundry I did last week and cleaned up the kitchen. I also ripped up a strip of carpet (it is being replaced by wood floor) to get ready to paint before the floor is replaced.

Next up is to sand, prime and paint the living room side of the island cabinet and the face frame of the built-in bookcase. I want them to fade into the wall plus it will make it easier to keep the baseboard all the color of the walls vs staining to match the wood.

Our schedule is looking busy. The coming week is empty except for a New Year's Eve party (where I took the cookies today) then the next week we have two Dr. appointments plus DH getting his stent in Phoenix. That will probably be an overnight as his procedure isn't until about 2 pm.

Then the 12 - 28 we will be in Quartzsite. We have our MH back from the repair place so we'll go play awhile.

Sorry I've been MIA. Just in a funk and reading too many books on my Kindle. Son sent me a give card to Amazon so I've been picking up some novels that I usually don't buy but had on my wish list.

Done the sermon. Took off the brace in order to type more quickly to get it done.

I think my bag is loaded with everything I need for tomorrow. I have a separate pile for the retirement home.

Need to tidy up now and fold laundry.

CathyS, Sorry you had some dead fish. I crocheted 4.5 yrs. grson a bath puppet, for Christmas, told him he can use it in the bath tub or shower. He looked at me, looked at their AQUARIUM and walked over to it. I said, "Uh-uh... But NOT in the aquarium! Tub or showers only!" He minded me, thankfully.

I wrote tomorrow's to do list, need to sort cards, take a p.m. shower and shampoo. I need to get going on a crocheted gift of leg warmers and hat for Dgd's 1st b-day Jan. 8, but keep putting it off. Perhaps, if I put this on my OMM list, I'll be more motivated. Also, noticed how I've got a mailer in the office on the shelf in the closet already addressed to her. If I put it on the dining room table, it'll be a reminder what's supposed to be in it. We'll ship them off on Jan.2, to arrive before the 8th. Ddil picked out the yarn in dark purple and rose pink. So pretty. I don't know why I've been procrastinating. Maybe too much pre-Christmas crochet and needed a break? Guess so!

went to church this morning. twins were baptized - so cute.
It is hot as hades here today, though the desert folk may win on heat. 40c or 45c inside depending on the thermoneter I look at. I'm going to try under my trees and hope its cooler there. Hoping the sea breeze swings in soon..

So good to hear from you, Emptynester. Smart of you to recognize that you might be experiencing some SAD, and get out into sun. Enjoy your painting project. Sounds attractive.

I was amused at Ivy's description of her loving cat. Doesn't that sound sweet? Hmmm... ... On the other hand, we have a mischievous cat. If there's a way to tease, frustrate, surprise or stalk his people, that's the cat interaction we get!

Long talk with dd33 has me happy tonight. We are conspiring happily about fixing her grandparents' house up for her 6-person family. 2014 will be a year in which I hope to keep up a schedule of work at that house. She will be bringing items each time they make a trip here.

We'd given dsonil a book on simple carpentry to help design fun/efficient children's rooms. He and dd33 were happy with it, but dsonil greatly admired the book I gave dstepson, Extreme Survival, 2008. Neither man could take his eyes off it. So we went out today (dd33, dd15, dstepgd and I) and found dsonil another copy of it (on sale this time ). Anyway, from the young men in our family, highly recommended. Things like, what would you do if you had to make a splint for someone, what are the simplest self-defense methods, what should you think about first if caught in a sudden storm, what's really going to work to start a fire fast, etc. Very well-illustrated with large helpful photographs. The photos were the reason HRH had been impressed with the book in the first place.

Trips to the bookstore are expensive! Between grandma and mom, a small book each for 5 children... ... yipes. We are soft touches.

DangerBoy and WonderBoy are with me tonight. I need to get back to playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and break the bad news that it is the agreed-upon bedtime.

Harriet, I had been wondering about your dd33 and her plans to eventually move back and into her dgrandparent's home. I was delighted to see that it will be a work in progress during the coming year.

Tonight dh and I went to dd2's to play games. Dd1 and dgs19 were there also. Dh is not a big fan of games but he did play games with us. We were having a great time until dgd4 decided to jump from the sofa to the large wooden coffee table. She didn't make it and whacked her upper leg. It started bruising almost immediately. Dd2's house is always loud. With dgd4 crying, dgs19 had had enough. With his Asperger's he can only handle so much and then he is done. So they left and we left shortly after that. The wind has come up and it is suppose to get cold with a chance for a dusting of snow.

lucylee and Kathryn, is Saving Mr. Banks a movie a man would be interested in? I really want to see it.
