helia I would like to tray a stair stepper once. On videos it looks fun (and also probably exhausting). How nice that you get to meet a good friend this week !

trissie I must admit I'm grateful for everything MrNG does in the garden. If it was just me there wouldn't be much growing in there, except of course weed and thorns. He has a lot of patience with seedlings, bringing them outside during the day and back inside at night during March and April... He does a lot really. I'm sorry your garden isn't growing as good as you would like. There are things you can do to improve the soil but nothing much to bring more sunlight. I remember a picture you shared about the neighbouring fence preventing your plants (was it tomatoes?) from growing properly. Living near large cities usually means small gardens.

Lunch was enjoyed. Not sure we will do something outside. It's sunny, though. MrNG says I need some fresh air, DS10 and DS7 seem busy playing some things. I will see

TADAs
Lunch cooked, served, eaten, mostly enjoyed
polenta almond orange dessert
time helping DS7 with his Lego issue (solved)
write down the menus for the week

TODO
check the weekly to-do list
do something together outdoors, the four of us ?
probably copy and paste most items from the week's list onto next week's list
weekly vacuum upstairs
dinner
set things up for week of school and payroll
bed early

Hello, Trissie, FFB, Helia and Bama!

Trissie, I'm sorry about the difficult relationship with your DMum. I hope the girls still had a good time with her despite her reluctance. Due to my complicated family circumstances, I never got to meet my paternal grandmother even though she lived less than 30 miles away (although I had a close relationship with maternal grandmother), and that is a source of regret, even though I know there's nothing I as a small child could have done about the situation .

FFB, I'm sorry about the garden destruction, it is upsetting when things you've carefully nurtured get destroyed. Could you use labels with any future showings, so Mr NG knows to be careful and avoid the area?

Helia, I'm glad you've got some unexpected free time. Today's lunch was roast duck breasts rubbed with sea salt and whole grain mustard, with honey poured over, roast potatoes, gravy, carrots, tender stem broccoli and green beans,. followed by lemon and strawberry cheesecake.

Bama, I'm glad DD and her BF are helping with the garden.

Church was good this morning, despite being decidedly chilly - I was glad of my thicker jacket. DF E was in good spirits, although she is definitely getting less mobile and finding everything a lot more effort. While lunch was in the oven I weighed out the Girls' food for the week and spread butter cream on the cake I made yesterday. Not much outside as it's cold and kept threatening to rain. So this afternoon I put the heating on (I know it's June and supposed to be summer, but I had a jumper and a fleece on and was still cold, and the cats were also complaining and squabbling over my lap. I like a peaceful life!) and we watched Topsy Turvey (the story of how the Mikado was written). Now, Freddie is asleep in "his" chair, tummy up, Matilda has the blanket by the radiator, and Jude is on our bed. :D 😺
