trissie, you've reminded me that we never made it to our local public peony gardens here. I think they're past their prime now. I'm sorry about DMIL's spell. It is good that DSIL is finally understanding her need for full time care. WTG on the report!
I've never cooked duck, Kitty. Dh has. Nice that the rain has stopped.

I liked both SHEMs very much, trissie and Kitty! Trissie's SHEM made me grin.

The next weeks are very scheduled for me.
6/11-6/15 5 houseguests; also feed the Ks for several meals = cooking/ providing lunch for 8 people several days and providing breakfast for 6 people for several days
6/12 Host dinner for 15 people; we cook - dh is making seafood paella (reserve seafood ahead of time)
6/13 dd30's event
6/14 BIG cook out at dd30's place: we help cook for 20+ people
6/18-6/20 conference in Ohio; in a bnb with 4 other people
6/21 Shakespeare in the Park - evening!
6/23 - 6/27 Backpacking in the UP (if the weather looks OK)
7/3-7/5 CG1 camping in Canada

Somehow, this week when houseguests arrive and dd30's ceremony/ reception thing are this weekend, I have a busy week in other areas of my life:
- Dh and/ or I have an event every evening for 8 nights in a row, from last night (dh - evening out with his lab - PhD students and post-docs) through this Sunday. I'm skipping tomorrow night's event because it's all just a bit much for me.
- Payroll will be heavier than usual. Today I am subbing and attending a meeting as the secretary, so I need to be at the school for about 3 hours and then type up notes afterward. This is the only day I've had to go in to payroll for 2 weeks. Of course.
- I also have a haircut, which I scheduled 6 weeks ago. This takes about 2.5 hours of a day with the drive to dfriend's house and back.
- In addition, dd30 last minute has asked me to create a fun Q-A sheet about her to put on the tables at the reception with photos on the answer sheet. I will need some tech help, which is usually dd28, but she's very busy with other things - although, being BO as she is, she has already baked the 100+ cupcakes for the reception and put them in the freezer. (I was a little surprised to hear that but she says they'll be fine and fresh when she thaws them out.) I will share a pic. She did a test batch and they are super cute with the decorations.

OK - I'm off to a late start on a packed week with tons to do. But - I'm off to a start, so that's something! LOL! It is sunny and forecast to reach 85F (29.4C) here. Currently, it is 68F (20C). I'm heading out for a jog first.

oh my, helia, you really have a lot going on! But then again, your day probably does not include 9+ hours away every day for payroll, so I shouldn't imagine trying to squeeze all of that into my daily routine. In any case, I think it is wise to skip those events you actually can skip!

No, I don't work full time, trissie, true. If I did, things would be done differently. Or I'd need to be on some sort of medication. LOL!
I guess you're at home with DD33 and Little Bit today, L Ann. I see your trip is this week!

It's 11:45. I'm aiming to leave for payroll in about 50 minutes to give me time to check resources for subbing before the 1 pm meeting.

Next:
- s2s and self care
- squeegee and wipe down shower
- some lunch
- after lunch clean up
- payroll: review sub plans in more detail

Done:
- back exercises
- dressed to jog
- took old fire pit to dumpster and dgirls' place and dumped it
- jog
- wrote check for WSW gardener and left near door + email letting her know

I love peonies, trissie. Thank you!

I am taking a 15 minute break which did not leave enough time to set up my Procrastaccomplishments List for the week, nor to format stuff, let alone to CUOP. I think that the neglected tasks in my apartment banded together and employed the Furies to motivate me to do them. Everywhere I turn, a task jumps out and says "Remember me? I'm still waaaaaaaiting....."
So I will try 15 up and 15 sitting until I hit a task that doesn't work that way

Ta Da:
Tried to get dressed: couldn't get my leg into pants, so put on a sort f tunic over my tshirt. Will dress when my joints have loosened up
Started to put on coffee
Gave dog heart pill

Checked goals for last week:

Goals
Short Term

Dr follow up:
Make appointment for 4 weeks from now–done
Make appointment for blood tests–done
Make appointment for mammogram–done
Appointment June 11 for Shingles vaccination

Check on peanut butter–another jar in pantry
Test the air conditioner–working
Wash windows–half done
Wash floor
Dust
Load dw to run tonight–done
Run dw–done

Look into qualification for GIS
Fill out form to move OAS to direct deposit

Update budgeting page for 2026–a little

Cut up Benedryl and Apoquel for pill organizer–done

Mini grooming sessions for dog
Laundry–done

Go through water-damaged boxes in locker–in progress

Tidy top of fridge

Go through boxes of stuff taken from desk–in progress
Work on course

To new Goals List, adding the pressing tasks that have employed the Furies to drive me to lose my mind unless I take care of them now now NOOOWWW:
Clean up after dog
Put away dry laundry
Put away groceries
Clear off table
Clear off stove
Wash some dishes
Make rice
Make pot of Tomato Potato
Cook turkey legs for Germane
Remove screws from patio window
Scrub down the edges
Set up air conditioner
Clean air conditioner filter
Run air conditioner fan for a while
Trim Germane's face
Wash Germane's eyes
Change out desk wastepaper box

L.Ann, I loved the food explorer idea of her recent activity, but I'm guessing that as your dgranddaughter she has been exposed to many more foods than her peers.

I am feeling bendier so I left the table, planning to eat on the balcony. But when I tried to put pants on again, it became clear to me that I won't be able to get over the barrier to the balcony yet, so my next 15 will be on the table.

[waving to helia and trissie whom I see on this page]

Kittykatt, if peonies won't cooperate, they do not deserve a place in your garden. We know how you spoil your plants!

My 15 is up. Time to tackle the table so that I can have breakfast.

Monday
Tried to get dressed: couldn't get my leg into pants, so put on a sort of tunic over my tshirt. Will dress when my joints have loosened up
Started to put on coffee
Gave dog heart pill
Put away groceries
Took a pill
Cleaned up after dog
Put away laundry from small drying rack.
Found the part that popped off and put it back on the rack
Put the rack away. This gives access to the patio door panes behind the air conditioner
Changed out kitchen and bathroom towels
Set up Procrastaccomplishments List for the week

helia, technically, I don't even work full time (officially 6 hours + 30 minute lunchbreak), but I generally do some overtime every day, plus I have a 1+ hour commute each day. When I did "real fulltime", I was leaving at 8am and getting home at 7pm :-(
Dogged, as a sign that my day is winding down - I read that you employed the furries and I was envisioning the giant cartoon animal costumed balding IT guys chasing you around your apartment! :-)
