I saw that headline on my phone first thing this morning, Kitty. I decided not to look into it. I hope it's a good thing for your country. I'm glad you got in some time outdoors before it gets too hot.
A rest day sounds good, kitkat. Are you baking bread? Enjoy the birthday party later.
You have a very kind and generous brother, Doggedly.
I didn't get back here yesterday. How was DBD's party, trissie? I bet it was a success. Do you have lots of food left over?

I slept very late this morning - but I was also awake for a good hour around 4 a.m. Still, I think I got 8+ hours altogether.

Yesterday, we got home from church close to 1 pm. It was a 2 hour service, and then there was a reception for the 9 year anniversary of our pastor. We felt we should show up at the reception since we're new members. I had made a grocery order in the morning, so I put the groceries away. After lunch, I went for a jog - 3.5 miles. I worked on payroll COs and vocab lists for S6. Then, we hosted 9 people + 2 puppies for dinner - but M cooked traditional Taiwanese food that was delicious! Dd28 brought an almond cake she had baked for Father's day, and dd30 brought salmon she had smoked for Father's Day! We sat around the table and talked from 7 - 9:15 pm. By the time everyone had left and we had finished clean up, it was almost 10 - but it was really nice to see everyone again. I think we needed to debrief the ceremony, reception, and conference together; we'd all attended the conference except R and J12yo. I also ordered some new shoes; there's a company in CO that dd28 likes, so I'm going to try those.

Today, I'm meeting dd28 + Fable at the dog park soon. Then, I'll go in to work around noon to (1) tour new space (we're moving basically next door to save rent money - it's not a good economy or geopolitical situation for our school), (2) attend the instructor meeting 1 - 1:40. I think AC is going to move our academic check in meeting from this afternoon to T or W this week. I'll need to figure out something for dinner, possibly just pulling from the freezer. I'd like to exercise - haven't decided if I'll jog again or go do the stair stepper and inclined walking at the gym or walk. Other things need to happen too, but these are the big things.

Next:
- message friend MM re: coffee this week
- message AS re: moving work out time this week
- reclaim kitchen

Later:
- meet dd28 at the dog park
- back exercises
- s2s and self care
- make the bed
- lists for the week
- lunch
- 12:15ish otd
- tour new payroll space
- 1-1:40 payroll: instructor su meeting
- finish unpacking suitcase
- some qt
- exercise
- schedule coffee with MM
- move work out session with AS
- payroll: finish vocab lists
- payroll: finish edits to Int Writing coursepack - I think I can do one more thing

Kittykatt, I hope that the change in Prime Minister works out as well for you as it did for Canada. And as well for Keir Starmer as it did for Justin Trudeau. Honestly, he looks so relaxed and years younger now.
I hope that you find ways to stay comfortable in the heat.

kitkat, I actually like most fruit better dried than fresh. If you are ever in Freshco, keep an eye open for the Turkish apricots. They are the best I have ever had.

End of Page 1. Time to jump up and do.

I do like dried apricots, Doggedly!

Last night, dh, myself, and dd28 had a short discussion. We decided we're all too burnt out to prep for a complicated trip (backpacking for 4 days) at a park 10 hours away. SO, we decided to simplify. We're going to go car camping (meaning, our car is accessible) at a park 5.5 hours away for 2 days. We'll still be in the UP, just closer. We're going Thursday - Saturday.

For all of you who asked:
the birthday is kind of like a potluck. Each person is bringing some food item sufficient for 4 people to taste.
I'm making my mom's old recipe - it is like a cheese biscuit - made with butter, quark and flour. It requires rest/fold/rest again..

helia - sounds like a pleasant evening last night:) Good idea to simplify your trip!
trissie what are dkids doing in the summer? Camps?
Dogged - I was thinking of freeze-dried fruits...I realize you said "dehydrated"-- but I LOVE dried apricots, plums, tart cherries... and a lot of others..

Kittykatt - dmom was experienced... Do you have those cooling neck wraps? Might help with the heat...

I think we can go out soon - it's just a drizzle now.

Achievements:
Pup out/in - fed
coffee/meds for me
D2S
dough prepared/folded X2 - resting in fridge
trip to WF
stopped at other store
dropped in to DD's place to feed fish
ate breakfast

Next:
take supplements
roll out dough/cut/bake
take pup for walk

You have gotten lots done, despite the heat, Kittykatt.

Thanks, trissie. My db's a keeper! Your day at work must feel like a vacation after your busy weekend. I'm glad that your parties went well.

Very true, helia. I tried to pay him but he wouldn't hear of it. And I understand, as it gives me pleasure when I can bring him some food that he enjoys.
That sounds like an excellent dinner, helia. I'm sure that everyone enjoyed it.
helia, my bff and her dboyfriend have the cutest little trailer. It just fits the queen bed, and there's a fold out part that makes the kitchen. My bff was the backpacker/canoe type of camper, but her db has bad knees so this works better for them now.

Potlucks can be a lot of fun, kitkat. Have fun with yours. :)

I thought that I heard Germane gasping for breath and was about to jump up and check her when I saw the big male pigeon all puffed up on my railing saying "Check me out ladies! I'm coooool coooool coooool"

Dogged, we have a pidgeon (well a turtle-dove) nesting in the bird control spikes. I don't think that's how they are supposed to work! :-)

kitkat, we'll be doing one week sea-side vacation, one week at the cottage, then DH has them all for one week (they are renting a B&B with a group of friendly dads), they each have a week or two of camp (not all at the same time), and the rest of the summer they will be home - DH and I will take turns working from home so that there's an adult to supervise them.
Butter, quark and flour recipe? Sure must come from your Czech side! :-)

helia, the party went well, only we made the mistake of letting DBD attend two other parties right before hers, so she was overstimulated and not handling the noise and so many people too well. Mental note for next year - yes, she is indeed neurodivergent too.

I need to figure out dinner. it's too hot to think, let alone cook! :-)

TaDas

ToDos

Braindump

When I saw mackintosh, I thought of one of our favorite apples, that mushes up into sauce when cooked, or participated with 2 other firmer apples in my mil favorite way to make apple pie. ( I never learn much more than that from her about her amazing apple pies) The picture is interesting - looks to me like it would make a beautiful stained glass window!

I'm back, but briefly - so much to do, not much time for computer visiting.... But meanwhile β™₯ to you all!
dfBS has (finally after a whole month) moved to a nursing home and is on hospice, with strong hopes that her symptoms will be controlled, she will get strong enough to be discharged from hospice, and go home to live her life. I won't squelch that, but will expect and plan that eventually she will realize that she is seriously ill and not getting better. And I will rejoice when proven wrong!

dsis3 and hubby were here for an amazing 9 days. He worked so diligently to improve mother's yard. She accomplished all the accounting needed to give income tax info to the CPA so mother's final tax form can be done. We wnet to a ball game, a Young John Denver concert (Annie grew up in my home town, was a member of my congregation, baptized and confirmed in my church; my little sister sang at their wedding), and had a day visitng with a df 100 miles away. But managed to get the necessary work done!
Cousin who lives 325 miles away notified me that his wife died and her funeral would be Saturday (2 days ago) so I left Friday - after a long day getting dfBS settled in NH, got to hotel at 2 a.m. - attended the funeral and came home. Tired!!!! Dawdled on the way home, stopping frequently so I wouldn't get sleepy driving. Spent some time in my father's home town, but it was rainign so I didn't go to the cemetery to see Grandparents and other ancestors graves.

MrVKM took me out to supper last evening, and I was in bed before midnight (no, not with him - he sleeps in his own house, 30 miles away - but you probably didn't care to know   )
And today I stayed in bed extra long, have had breakfast and soon will get dressed, as it is after noon here.
