Why leaving DH alone for more than 60 seconds is not a good idea -
** He is unstable when trying to get out of bed, walking and/or sitting in a chair. He needs to be stabilized in any movement. I had turned my back to get a chair for him which resulted in him taking a tumble and hit the floor hard. He was able to get himself up off the floor and doesn't appear to be hurt.
** He insisted on dressing himself. Multiple layers. Shorts and jeans (plus underwear). He insist on wearing two shirts. Hours later he still will not take any of the damp clothes off >>>shrugging shoulders<<< It isn't defiance but more like he is in a clueless bubble.
** He was trying to put his shoes on. He kept putting both shoes onto his left foot. It took approx 30 minutes to convince him that each foot needs its own shoe.
** He needed to use the bathroom so walked over to desk and pulled drawer open to use as a urinal. !!!! He doesn't have a clue that isn't the right place to do that. I was able to walk him to the bathroom to use the toilet.
** He picked up a jug that we use to collect coins. It is heavy with several hundred coins in it. I thought he was going to look at the coins….or maybe spill them…..Nope. He tilted the jug up as if it held liquid and tried to drink from it. All this happened in less than 10 seconds even though I was right there. I quickly grabbed the jug away from his mouth & out of his hands while putting my finger in his mouth to get coins out.
** I knew from past experience that he can't eat or drink anything during the first few hours. However because he was so desperate for a drink I gave him a small glass of water….which made him nauseous and that had to be cleaned up.
** Speaking of cleaning up - the bed mattress protector, sheets and comforter are stripped from the bed and in process of being washed. A fan is blowing on the damp mattress.
** For the first 7 hours he didn't know who I was. Didn't know my name. Thankfully in the past hour that memory has returned to him.
I am eating 20 grams of meat from yesterday leftovers every couple of hours. I'm not hungry but know I need to keep my BSugar stable and strength up. Chew swallow. Mission accomplished.
