Hello, hello -- to everyone!!!
I guess I managed Monday. Boy... it has been a day! All good, but BUSY.
-- First, at her request, I took dmom to a car lot where she had received a flyer that she had "definitely" won
something. She called the phone number to verify. Yes. Definitely. I had my doubts but she was certain the smallest prize was a $50 gift card to Wmart. I had my doubts. My dmom has a good mind, but sometimes... oh well. DGD and I went with dmom, and guess what the prize was? A small (the box fits in your hand) KARAOKE machine. It has lights on it that change color. What is my 81 year old dmom going to do with a tiny little karaoke machine??? SMH. DDIL said dgd might like it. Neither of us seemed to think about dgd or even ask her what she thought of it. SMH.
-- After that, we went to Home Depot, and walked all around there while dmom checked the cost of a new dishwasher. Lots of time spent doing nothing. DGD was bored out of her mind. But she was well-behaved and made the best of it. She and I were interested in the baby blue refrigerator we saw.
-- After THAT, we went to Target, because dmom wanted a new phone and they supposably carried Consumer Cellular phones. Nope, not anymore.
-- THEN we went to the car dealership where dmom bought her car, and scheduled an appointment to take it in for a repair -- she received a recall notice recently.
-- Finally, we stopped at Krispy Kreme.
Back home at dmom's, dgd and I stayed just a minute (to split the donuts with her) and dmom and I made plans to attend her high school reunion next week.
Later this evening, I texted our rsvp to the lady in charge.
ONLY AT THAT POINT did it cross my mind to check to see if ds and ddil would be home that night so I would not be needed for babysitting.

Yes, they will be home
because that is Meet the Team night for the football team.
I texted back to the lady and told her "OOPS -- I will not be able to bring dmom to the reunion! SORRY!!! I will find out if she is okay going alone."
My goodness. I am so aggravated... and I feel terrible about backing out on dmom.
OTOH, she has not been attending their reunions. They have one every year, and it is always at one of her favorite restaurants, less than 5 miles from her house! Except for one, all the ladies in her close friend group have already passed away, except her best friend, and that lady NEVER attends the reunion. I don't think dmom will feel bad about me backing out, but
I feel bad about it. It was too late to call her when I talked to ds, so I'll call her in the morning.
I did a load of clothes, emptied and refilled the dishwasher, washed the hand-wash items in the sink, tried to "plant a seed" with dgd re: how much better I felt having done that, and it only took 10 minutes while I had been thinking about it for two days.
Corrected payment for my internet so it will be on my cash back card.
Played several games of Clue with dgd and a couple games of Dirty Board, and I am exhausted.
In between Krispy Kreme and realizing I had messed up, dgd and I ate an early supper, came home, I took a nap, and then we went to her volleyball game. I am exhausted. I know I already said that. It bears repeating.
I hope dmom isn't too disappointed in me tomorrow.
