Twins it's both I had a tiny cold sore, & sinus ear issues too. The smoke has cleared out yea!
Had lunch.
I've done some sewing and have done two more days quota of blocks.
Now I'm to the end of the this batch deciding on the next ones.
Not urgent to decide this today however.

Hi all. You know I had started joining in with you all here. Honestly I think I post fun and games cause that's what I am used to and the crowd from sheforums.com is there mostly. It's very rare I actually post a list. Just never follow through. I get things done... or not .. without listing it all lately.

I love your comments on writing and clearing the mind. So true. That's what I used this place for. Sometimes I get a bit of a novel going. There's one in fun and games that I don't think I'm going to repeat here. It's my day saga. I should use this thread a bit more as I was really appreciative of you original ladies with so many similar life stages.

So I will do a little of a general life stage update. I have a growing family that blesses me so much. Dgs lil j is such a delight. Running all over and learning to create words and sounds. Adorable. 17 or 18 months. And dd25 and her husband will be parents to a little girl in a month or so. Early September. She's all the way over in Alberta but I am so excited. They were here a week ago. Along with some of dsil family. The 2 couples are good.

Mom is settled in to long term care at the hospital. Our liaison while waiting for the nursing home. Just got too much. She's doing pretty well there and definitely there would be o way she could come home now. Dad has done a lot of work on his place.. slowly. Way too much for him now. Hopefully the legal stuff goes through soon and he can sell it and buy something small in town with a little shop to play in. He's gotten involved in a men's group so that's good. Still being a bit challenging to help. But whatever.

Ds 16 is in a big rut of nothing this summer and I'm definitely needing some support for his autism journey. He's not just a normal teen telling him what to do to fix it isn't working yet. He just can't respond unless he's at ease. I might yet make a thread for him on j and c. Haven't there yet.

Anyway dishwasher trouble today... dh described how to pull it out. I got that far but this one requires waiting for his help. I'm slowly handwashing.

How cool, Lauralind, that you would hang out anyplace or all over the place in our "village", and we will be tickled when you come in to PWYC. You can probably give us a lot of insights and advice. (Twins' Mom gets credit for first calling this a village!) I feel very much like an original lady in every facet of my life , however in debt to others here who are so much older than me (ducking and running, fast). Mid-to-older teens - we have a ds17 and a dd15 in our midst, LadyM's children. Autism is often a topic RamblinRose can comment upon, since she taught for many years and had many experiences and successes in teaching with an awareness of Autism. Others have experiences with this, too. I saw you commented on your granddaughter and at first thought, "me, too!", but reality hit - my dgdC, who is my youngest grand, is going into middle school in the coming year, although I have no idea when that happened.

I was outside watering when HRH called out and said he was making a dinner order. The Thai food we got a few days (week?) back was very easy on his system and he wants to have that again, plus we do remember we ate every bite of it in two meals. So, it's Kaeng Massaman curry for me again this evening. He is a Thai food appreciator (he says it is notoriously "clean cooking").

Wisdom teeth - LadyM, both DangerBoy and WonderBoy had to have all four wisdom teeth extracted and so for ddolder, today may be a breeze in comparison. DgsC only needs two (I think?) removed. She says she is stocked up with soft foods, though.

Thanks Harriet. I have long known ds had something. Adhd was his diagnosis at grade 1. Innatentive not one bit hyperactive. We tried several different meds to no avail. And side effects galore. I'm not going meds . Done decided that. Every stage different for him. He was diagnosed end of grade 9. Excelled in grade 10 and resisted any one on one help they tried. Till near end of the year something made him think he failed. He had all kinds of academic goals now I don't know what he is thinking he's not saying much at all. Isolation. At least today while I'm home he's out of his room.

I sometimes with we had more variety for take out. Pizza. Fried chicken. Subway. Chinese kinda lol.. small town is hard for restaurant survival.

Hello Lauralind, great to have you stopping in here! We're always happy for more conversation here!

My twins are 34, believe it or not. I think they were under age five when I took that name, and back then they right in the front of my mind all the time. My ds is very very introverted - perhaps he's getting a little more outgoing as he ages, but I'm never sure. Both kiddos are out of the house - dd lives in NJ, we live in SE and ds lives in our town.

Yes, today should have been anti procrastination day. After many delays and side quests I got the Excel sheet for the cemetery caught up. Filed the papers for the year. I need to find someone to take over as treasurer.

I'm stamping a little, trying for creative. I keep making boo boos!

I'm trying to put off ddog's walk a little longer. It's cooler than yesterday but still hot. Wish I could get her comfortable going a little later.

Hello! Starting this briefly with plans to finish later. Should be eating lunch now but forgot to get that heating up while I set up the crockpot for today’s dinner. Need to leave in about 10 minutes to take DC to their driving test. I have it in my phone as 12:45; I’m pretty sure it’s actually at 1:00.

Waiting now in the waiting room of the exam station. I hope DC is not as nervous as I am. I have my insurance app open so, if all goes well, I can contact the agent immediately to get them put on the insurance.

blessed, that price sounds outrageous! I’d think they’d be falling all over themselves with justifications before thinking to give an estimate that high. Like, your door is an unusual size or shape, or you’re in a historic area that has very specific building requirements or something. Not just “well, we’re going to charge a 100% markup.” I don’t even need to convert Kittykatt’s prices to say, “find another contractor.”

Alas, the license was not to be, at least today. Apparently, they hesitated too long when making a turn at a light that was changing, resulting in them running a red light, which was an automatic failure.

Lauralind, how good to see you! What a lovely family you have! Not much help on the autism here; my kids are neurodivergent in other ways.

Getting ready for Book Club. The woman who’s hosting has rented a room at a nearby bookstore for us tonight; she is also getting us cookies from one of those fancy cookie shops. We are bringing our suppers in with us; I’ve got a travel mug chilling in the fridge to bring along some cold milk for that cookie! Dfriend K will pick me up in about half an hour. The bookstore is in the quaint downtown of a nearby burb, which I usually avoid like the plague due to the congestion of the street parking and pedestrian traffic and no easy place to park (other than those few street spaces). So I am very glad K is driving. She may be able to drop me somewhere near the shop.

Home from successful trip to the city.
** DH got 3 cavities filled and a good report on our effort to heal the sores in his mouth.
** Filled up vehicle with gas.
** Picked up DS17 prescriptions. The pharmacist is amazing in knowing how to get things done.
** Did a quick restock - $280 of groceries came home with us. I wrapped the frozen/cold things in a blanket trying to insulate them for the 30 minute drive home. Loading & unload frozen/cold food in 110 degrees tend to be a challenge.

Lauralind - it is good to see you posting here. I suspect we have several things in common with teenagers. DS17 has ADHD, ODD and Tourette's. DD15 was diagnosed this year with Autism, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and complex PSTD. I am constantly trying to figure out how to best support their needs and have received so many good suggestions from SHE friends.

Hi! I'm here a lot later than usual.

Dh took his time getting up this morning and then he finally decided that he wanted to stay home. I did Walmart by myself, which is okay by me.

Brought it all home. Dh mentioned wanting a green salad, so I brought a Caesar salad kit along with 2 tomatoes and a cucumber. We had leftover chicken to go with the salad, so that was lunch.

Then we watched the Blue Jays win today's baseball game and 2 of the 3 games of their series with the Nationals (DC). After that dh helped me unload all the soda I bought. (10 x 6 packs) I had to assist him to put air in one of the tires.

Then we went to a local burger place for supper. Sigh... he yelled at a woman because she ordered her food and then decided she wanted something else. She got into it with him, describing herself as a "b...." and telling him to bring it on, basically. Because I was giving him a dirty look, he shut up, but she sure didn't. He apologized to me for his actions. She had already left. I asked him why he has been so angry lately.

We also got a call regarding his eye appointment. Dh and I had a discussion and he has chosen to not go, so I phoned and cancelled his appointment.

When we got home dh went to bed and he's sleeping.

Ahh yes lady Maverick. I knew there was someone here that had similar issues. Ds was doing so well I thought maybe he was managing things on his own. Ahh noo apparently not.

I guess it was a successful day off. Laundry done. Dw and stove cleaned under. Dw waiting for dh to work on cause it won't drain. Dishes mostly caught up floors mopped. Gonna go walk my big ole samoyed Casper. Accomplishment -- ds is actually going to make something for supper. He went a couple years almost I hardly had to cook. This last episode he stopped completely..

The local forest service posted this information to encourage planting trees.
With air temperatures reaching 103° and "feels like" temps topping 115°, we decided to measure how much relief our urban trees actually provide.
We used a surface thermometer on a stretch of concrete:
In the blazing sun: 154.6°
In the shade of a tree (5 feet away): 110.7°
That tree shade knocked nearly 44 degrees off the pavement temperature!

DS17 and friend spent most of the day cutting down trees and hauling them to the local burn pit. They didn't cut any of the big trees (20+ years old) but they were focused on removing the smaller ones that were growing in the fenceline.

Now DS17, fiancée and a friend are traveling 4 hours to Dallas to purchase a motor to put in friend's pickup, then turn around and drive 4 hours back here. They physically work hard all day in 110 degree heat, then drive 8 hours. And they have plans to start cutting trees again in the morning. Remembering when I had energy like that and always busy. I'm enjoying a slower pace life now.
