Speaking of accomplishments, DC did, in fact, pass their driver's test yesterday! They can drive themself to and from tonight's rehearsal, and DH and I won't have to sit in the parking lot hoping rehearsal ends before they shut down the college for the night. (It's a community college, no dorms, so there's nothing there except campus security that runs 24-hours.) There have been times when the only cars in the lot have been ours and the cars of the director and another student with a large part.
I have been a lump today. My legs were bothering me, so I didn't want to hit the treadmill after breakfast and instead sat in my chair trying to muster up the will. Of course, I dozed off for about half an hour. Then I remembered I was supposed to start the crockpot. I put it on high, but I don't know if it will be ready in time. It's supposed to be shredded beef, but we may just have to have it as roast beef -- especially now that I remember that we have no sandwich buns!
Looked up Niagara flooding, Cathy. Oh, my goodness! Things are certainly bad. I'm glad you escaped the worst of it.
Being drawn back into lump mode by sitting here. Don't know whether I want to start a load of wash or run to the bank, but I need to so something! Have a great day, everybody!

WhoooHooo!!!! Congratulations to DC and having another driver option in your home.
This morning DS18 presented a possibility he was thinking about doing. Some of his friends are doing it which is influencing him. The idea he was thinking about doing is buy a travel trailer and park it at local RV park. Park rent with all utilities (including wifi) is $500 a month. We discussed the pro/cons of doing it. After a couple hours of thought, then he decided isn't the best move for him right now. His first day of adulthood shows a strong desire for independence but then reality happens.

Have finished the hand-quilting on one more block. These are the last parts that were too tedious and twisting-turning to do by machine. It looks seriously good on the front - can't wait to show dgsC, who was my partner in planning. But on the back... .. oh, it's pretty bad. Well, ya'll won't tell anyone, will you? I'm sure I'll probably point it out at times in the future.

LadyM - congrats to you for rearing an independent young man. We are actually selling OS Bus that has been refit to be a camper.
Harriet - I have a quilt top OS made in middle school he is now 35 and it needs to be quilted, we actually have the filling and backing and it is pinned but that project just froze and nothing as been done with it.

Cathy we were underwater yesterday but not due to rain, our hose is underpressure from the bottom of house up and over railing and controlled by a strong spigot but the hose got a crack in it and burst and YS didn't realize for several hours and the plants had standing water and the area under our porch was totally flooded. Now we need a new hose.
I think the list I posted last time, none of it got done. I went down this deep rabbit hole of AI soap operas that are so stupid but so addicting at the same time. I have not gone to work out for 2 weeks, I only make it out of house if I have an appointment or a promised thing I said I would do. This is a behavior I must stop. I need to put some deadlines on things.
Today I have worked on some desk work and things I have to sign up for or purchase and bills and deposits.
Yesterday I got the honor of helping MS set up his first solo class - he was kept as a long term sub this year which means he takes any job that was not filled until it is filled or does people's medical or maternity leaves. They assigned him 5th grade science, social studies and writing for 5th and 6th grade with a 5th grade home room. He had meet the teacher at 3 p.m. yesterday and he was told about this on Monday. They didn't give him enough things to set his room up so he went and spent 100 dollars to get what he felt was necessary and YS and I helped him cut up OS's lego boxes (with his permission as he had decided not to keep them) and make decorations for his classroom. He had to buy pencil pouches and a few other things. School supplies are provided by the school here now, so my job was to make 24 stuffed pencil pouches, then label 5 folder and 1 composition book, cover all of his bulletin boards with cloth or paper and help him create his hallway board by cutting out labels. His room was a disaster on Monday I guess but he did a great job of reorganizing things and he made up a game power point to introduce himself and has written his lesson plans for this week. MS and his dad had tickets to a musician that sings funny political songs (I had no idea who this man was but both of them knew) so they got tickets over an hour from home and went to that and he lesson planned in the car. I hope his first day went well.
Trying so hard to motivate YS to apply for jobs, he is 27 and I help him find jobs and I basically have to constantly Nag to get him to even do 1 and usually he lies to me and does none. I don't want to have to throw him out so I am trying to find people I can send him to that will help him interview better and support him in getting a job. He has a degree in Cyber Security but has never worked in Cyber Security and he graduated over 2 years ago. He has 3 very small side hustle jobs that maybe take up 10 hours a week on a good week. He has 1 interview but heard nothing from it after the phone interview which is usually where he never gets a call back. It is so frustrating.
OS came home for a week and got himself a new to him big car (2024 Honda CRV) he and his partner are big guys OS is 6'2" and R is 6'4" so they needed something with head and leg room. This is all wheel and he lives in Twin Cities and they get a lot of snow in the winter.
I wrote a list of must does today and I have checked off the most time bound ones I will keep working on it. I was going to wash guest room bedding the last time I checked in and it is still on the bed in a pile unwashed but no one is sleeping at our house anytime soon. I am in charge of game night at church on Friday and a big pitch in lunch on Sunday when our priest returns from sabbatical and DOK on Monday followed by a meeting so I do important things. But I need to get back with exercise etc and doing some of my projects.
little frustrated that helper left early by 15 min bc she didnt want to get mom up before leaving - she gets paid until 6 but I let her go home at 5 every day - but she waved goodbye and I heard mom
how silly of me to get frustrated - im sure todays feelings are from monday when she left at 2:30 for a quick appointment and never came back - without a text

Hi CostumeLady! I saw a post from you on FBook earlier and I was wondering if you would be posting here/ Nice to see you.
Harriet... some days I would just rather read than do anything else. Not long ago I read Circle of Days by Ken Follett in 3 days. I looked at the back page and did some quick math and decided I could read 200 plus pages per day and get it read in 3 days. It was an awesome book. I like most of his books. Now I am reading the last "Private" book that I have by James Patterson. There are 4 more in the series, but I haven't found them yet. I might actually have to read some of the books on my to-be-read pile. Actually I have 2 stacks of biographies I have been wanting to read as well.
Unfortunately I have to do adult things, like housework. It really interferes with my reading time.
Dh and I watched a baseball game that was on this afternoon. That was after we cut the grass now that the water is mostly absorbed. We had the Premier of our province visit our tiny town today to see the flooding. THAT'S when you know how bad it is. Of course he has been here many times before because he travels the entire province extensively to visit factories and have meetings with local politicians. He even goes to the US to visit your politicians.
Dishwasher is going. The nightly lock up has been done. (Garage door, both vehicles and house door are all locked.)
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

If it's not something you or he will want to keep working on, you could send it to be quilted and bound by someone. That's a recent subject in the Arts, Crafts Needlework topic. Sorry about the hose and water! Getting on a tangent is universal, don't beat yourself up - maybe it was mental exercise.

Made a little template and maybe got the image right the first time. Glued down and pressing under a weight now.
Sandwiches for supper here, very simple. Adding sauerkraut on the side.
