Good morning!
Thanks for the start helia! I was just thinking of you as I was signing in:) When are you back?
trissie and Dogged Whole Foods often sells fresh figs, as does Costco (sometimes). SOOOOOO good.
Kittykatt Toronto is the racoon capital... but they followed us:) However, no trouble for the last 2 nights.
(touch wood)

I realize I never got back here...
Dkids left around 1 pm. then I crashed. DH called me (apparently 8 times) - I slept right through it.
I did take pup for a shortish walk and baked the little buns:) and managed a lol and stirfry for dinner.

Now, I must get going as I have my little sleepover guest this aft.
Also a class at 11
and doggie walk ASAP - unless the rain comes.

kitkat, and can you imagine how delicious fresh figs are, if even the store-bought ones (harvested before full ripeness) are good? :-) (yes, before we had our own, I did eat my share of store figs :-) Did something important happen to warrant 8 calls?

Morning all. Oh wow helian I could not have kept up on that trek. Absolutely beautiful I bet. Sounds like a wonderful vacation.

Trissie so pretty. I don't think I have ever seen fresh figs here. Any fruit trees we have are very accustomed to cold. Really cold 😆. Maybe I just have not looked for them. Camp switch? One home the other out soon? Glad she enjoyed it.

Well I need to get moving. Hopefully ds will get up soon so I can motivate him to come again. We need to go feed and water ds and ddil dog while they are away. He came with me last night for the first time out of the house in a few weeks 😳.

I need to make cookies this morning for church in the park tomorrow. Our church is doing lunch duty. I'll probably go down and help make sandwiches etc later. Plus finish picking berries . So many again. I feel like breakfast first. Some routines and cookie dough. Check on the dog and get gas in my car. Then see where I get.

Thanks, Kittykatt.

I will start watching for fresh figs, trissie. If I don't find them here, I might find them in Quebec City when I am visiting my db. Thank you!

helia, I'm glad that enjoyed your somewhat terrifying hut tour and made it back safely. The scenery sounds beautiful. I don't know a lot about Avignon, but imagine that it will offer sidewalks and stairs while you recover. :)

That brings me to the end of Page 1, and I have already slipped down the Facebook rabbit hole, so time to launch myself from this chair. BBS

Oh, I could see figs with Arugula for some reason, LAnn...
Dogged a trip to Quebec City? Love that place!
trissie everything is a (number of) step(s) up when it's truly fresh! That's why I love markets.
What are you going to do with berries, Lauralind

Just back from gym
I did strip beds and vacuumed before I left...
Walked my doggie:)
fed her
took meds/suppl.

Next:
lol
eat a bite
make up beds

kitkat, I totally agree, things sold in markets have very short farm to customer route, so they can be harvested at optimal ripeness - if it is to go through the retailer, it needs to be underipe at harvest time. And those final days on the stem are what makes the taste so much fuller!
Dogged, when are you visiting with your brother?
lauralind, is DS attending any summer camps or other summer activities? How long till your newest grandbaby arrives? Or did I miss it already?

Gee, I join in with both grapevine envy and fig tree envy, trissie. I do have a shed, but no, not one with any visible interior.

Great that helia can check in and tell about injury-free adventures.

Star Fruit can impress in a breakfast bowl. I would make these many times when the grandboys were younger, often with Dragonfruit cut into balls with a melon baller, bright mango in cubes, and whatever additional colorful fruit might be fresh. Over steel-cut oats or whatever base. Hang starfruit slices at the edges and it would look like an other-worldly breakfast for science-fiction loving kids. I had some who loved this so much - but a couple who snuck away from the table, lol.

I'll be sort of saying good-bye to one of the adventurous eaters this evening, getting together with WonderBoy on his last evening pre-college. His mom and brothers take him for move-in tomorrow, 2 hours away.

Yikes that's a tough one Harriet sending one off to college. How far away?

Trissie unfortunately no. Oh maybe you were away a bit. He's just wandered back to his room. Ds kinda holed himself up in the house this summer. Got him out a couple times when his sister was here. He really dislikes any warm weather. It's like I have to drag him to take him anywhere. He gave up on his online class and I offer him to come out shopping most times. Nope. At least he is happier than he was. Cooking some again. And helping me a couple times if I ask.

Cookies are almost done. Checked on the dog. Cleaned the kitchen and pancakes for breakfast. Sitting for a bit and then go out to the berries. I'm probably going to make jam with them. Dd wants some but I didn't get the ones from south this year so raspberries will travel better as jam lol.
