Hmmm... clear my mind? Y'all know what a high goal you've set for me, don't you?
All in all, though, I guess I have had a fairly mind-clearing day.
Had to get up at 6:00 a.m.! DS was playing music at a church about an hour away, but he had to be there at 8:00 a.m. for the 9:00 service.
I actually woke up at 5:30 when dgs came through my bedroom to take a shower.
I got out of bed at 6:15. Fortunately, I had showered last night so I had time to get my make-up on and my hair decided to behave for the day. I wore it scrunched in natural curls, but at least it looked like I intended for it to do that, rather than looking like I combed it with a hand-mixer.
Dgrands and I went to the first service, but then we went out to the car for the second service. I was tired, and it was very cold in the church!
I think they were tired too, because, after a few complaints, dgd lay down on the back seat and I didn't hear a sound from her. We were parked in the shade and had the car windows open, and it was not too hot at all.
Afterwards, we ate at Schlotzsky's sandwich shop. Do any of y'all have those nearby? We don't have one in our town, or in Next Town, but ds plays at this church every year, and it's become our tradition to eat there afterwards.
DGD came home with me, but she let me nap, and after she and I ate supper, I took her home.
OH -- I didn't tell y'all part two of the washing machine story!!!
DS and I used the snake, all 25 feet of it, and it came back clean. I washed a small load of towels and checked on it periodically till it was in the rinse cycle. These towels got off balance in the spin cycle and the washer started making the most awful banging noise... I went in there... leaking again AND it had bounced and jerked itself at least three feet from the wall!!! I cut the power off and got it stopped before it pulled the drain pipe out of the wall!!! If I was mad Thursday, I was FURIOUS Saturday.
I did clean behind the washer since it was out of the way anyway, and dgs helped me get it back where it goes.
I had left messages last night with a plumber friend -- young man who bought land from my dmom -- and he messaged back with his phone number, so I called him and he said he would come by tomorrow afternoon or Tuesday morning. I still think there is more to this washer problem than just the drain pipe, but we shall see. He is the second generation (maybe third) in a plumbing family that has had an excellent reputation for nearly 50 years. I would have used them before, but the other man we always used was a former employee of my dfil's.
I also left messages with the washer repairman... I suspect the washer got out of level while he was messing with it.
Tomorrow is also dgs' first B-team/JV game. (We used to call it B-team, now they are JV, and probably anyone who didn't start Friday night will get to play tomorrow, but we are hoping dgs will get some playing time.
It can't be any worse than last year. I'm sure I told y'all about my first cousin's son being dgs' coach, and in two years, dgs played ONE SNAP (during the very last game of the first year!) During the second year, he never got off the sidelines.
To top this off, dgd has an obsession with these cousins -- the coach and his brothers. They are good young men, but none of us can figure this out -- she hasn't even spent any time with any of them, except the coach, for a little while at his son's 2nd birthday party! My ds said the other day, "I think I've figured it out. I think she is crazy about H (the coach) because she thinks he doesn't like dgs... so they have a common enemy."
I told dgd that's what her daddy and I thought, and she laughed and said we might be right.
Well, it is after 12:30 a.m. now, and I still need to do my Bible reading for the day, which I skipped earlier today.
I was just really in a sort of decompression (is that the word?) stupor after I got back home. I didn't turn on the tv, I just sat in the recliner and scrolled on FB. Finally I went outside and sat on the porch as it was getting dark, and I called dbil -- I need to get digital football tickets to him tomorrow. I talked to dsisil and I told her I would call College Town and find out the best way to transfer these tickets from my email to her phone, and her cousin's phone. I really, really HATE this digitalization of everything. We paid extra for paper tickets, but because our first game will be played in Atlanta, apparently we must use digital tickets at that venue. (They must use them; I don't plan to go to any games.) Apparently it is impossible to attend a game in Atlanta if one does not have a cell phone? I think this is ridiculous.
I really should tell dbil to just take all these expenses, but I want to hold on to my part of it until the dgrands go to college. If one of them chooses AU, I know ds and ddil will want to make use of those tickets, and dh would certainly be upset to know I gave up the tickets (and the condo) before they made their choices.
Good night all!!! Hope you have a great day tomorrow.
