trissie, Berlin sounded really nice, even if it was a back up plan. I see you're baking a cake - whose birthday are you celebrating? Or is this just for the sake of having a cake?
Oh no, sorry about Germane's potty accidents - or non-accidents (?) Doggedly. Yes, so true - some people bring joy wherever they go and others - not so much. I keep reminding myself that dbro grew up in the same dysfunctional family that I did and that I had/ have several advantages that he did/ does not have. These advantages have helped me navigate family life growing up and process it as an adult.
Kitty, enjoy the appointment free week! Yes, I've thought of contacting d-exsil, dniece's mother, about the lack of clothes changing and perhaps hygiene for dniece. I've heard of mynah birds but I don't think I've ever seen one IRL.
L Ann, so good you and DD39 will figure out a way for Little Bit and DD33 to continue to see each other. That sounds like a lovely friendship.

Yesterday was very busy and social as expected. Church at 10 a.m. Home around 12:20 pm. I had lunch and updated several social threads -- family and travel for S and K. I didn't have time to walk so I drove to CG2 at 2:30 - 5 pm. Afterward, I stopped by B and N en route home to buy cards. Then, I wrote my note for M. The BD dinner for M was 6:30 - 8:45. Then, the family zoom call was 8:45 - 9:45ish. And that was my day.

Today: I do not need to sub this morning. I'm very grateful. I'm hoping to use today to make progress on payroll exam prep, get groceries, wash the bedding dbro + dniece used, work on the MBR, and start working on prepping rooms for S and K. Dh is out for dinner tonight, so I don't need to cook. Yay!

Exercise: I'm going to pass on running today, though this is the day I'm scheduled to run. This is to give my body time to rest and heal because (1) my headache is improving but it's still present but mild; I still have a sinus thing going on and (2) I seem to have strained muscles or something in the back of both of my legs near my buttocks. When I start walking, it's initially OK but after a few steps it's quite painful -- but not a sharp pain, more of a dull strong pain. I keep walking and it's OKish again. I may have overdone it with the personal trainer on Friday afternoon - he has me do leg presses - followed by the 5K jog Saturday morning that involves running up a small hill 3x. . . I might follow L Ann's lead and go for a couple shorter walks today. Hmm... to avoid hills, I'd need to drive to the park. I'll see how that unfolds.

Next:
- some qt
- tidy kitchen
- s2s and self care

Later:
- squeegee and wipe down shower
- make the bed
- put away laundry on the cedar chest
- MBR declutter progress?
- make a menu plan and groc. list
- Kroger
- WF?
- put groceries away
- lunch
- after lunch clean up
- walk (short X2? Or longer at park - flat?)
- bedding: w d f pa
- remake beds in guest room up
- inspect guest room down - what needs to be done?
- payroll exam prep: next R Exam
- payroll exam prep: L Exam
- payroll exam prep: start AS Exam
- dinner: leftover Asian chicken + lettuce for wraps
- after dinner clean up
- duolingo
- update WW
- update MFP
- update goodreads
- order baby gifts X2
- text MM and SS
- read book?

TaDas!
- up; braved the scale -- got the same # I saw Saturday morning. Hmm.... I'll take it.
- coffee
- email deletions + weather website - sunny and a high of 75F today! Perfect weather!

helia, DS turned 15 yesterday! :-)
Re people, there's a quote I like by Oscar Wilde: "Some cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go"
Re the hikes, I did most of the Berlin on foot, because that's the way I like to explore a city, but on top of that, when I went to Wannsee (which is a small town just outside Berlin on a large lake: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wannsee ) to visit the house of Wannsee conference ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wannsee_Conference ) which has been turned into a Holocaust memorial, I decided I might just as well enjoy the wonderful outdoors there and take a looong stroll around the lake. I wonder whether this photo will be visible: https://nyx.cz/files/000/031/3128450_c2 ... 751204.jpg ?

trissie, happy birthday to ds!! Wow - 15! I think that's the same quote Doggedly mentioned. Very clever - and true. LOL! Sounds like a great walk - and I could see the photo. Was that at the conference building?

Quick fly-by after payroll.

Happy belated birthday to trissie's DS ! Lovely picture. I would love a few days alone in Berlin, although the Wannsee wouldn't be my main aim (thanks for the informative links).

helia you seem to be working out quite seriously with your trainer. I hope the headache and the leg-ache are gone by tomorrow.
Doggedly, sorry about all the cleaning-up you have to do several times a day. Is there anything that can be done to help Germane ?

Kittykatt, my DSisYoungeer had a school friend who had one of those birds, I was very envious because the bird could actually sound like a human speaking and that seemed so exciting. How are you managing with five cats to feed ? No news from Mica's owners ?

Day at paryoll, only 107 emails, lots to catch up on but Boss has a few days off so my work seems easier. I will be caught up by Wednesday or Thursday I think. Back to school on September 1st seems to make DS10 very melancholy. Not sure I can help with that.

TADAs
morning routine, commute, day at payroll
commute back
washing some clothes
now computer time on the treadmill while MrNG finishes prepping dinner 8-)

TODO
dinner
time with the kids, they need it
before bed routine, read stories

trissie, happy birthday to ds. Beautiful picture!
helia, I guess it's a good thing you didn't have to sub this morning.
kittykatt, thanks for the bird and its story.
doggedly, sorry about Germane and her lakes.
l.ann, you have today and tomorrow with little bit, then she's off to school.
FFB, bedtime stories are some of my favorite memories.

I said good bye to my dniece this morning.
Have washed sheets; they are in the dryer. Dsis3 is coming on Thursday night.
had a conversation with a pastor about the apartment at mother's. Not suitable for the person/ situation she had in mind.
a friend through dfBS needs a cat carrier. I need to get mine out of the basement and clean it out so I can give it to him this afternoon.
My lawn needs mowing.
I have banking to do
And psot office run
And dishes in MY kitchen to wash.
today's decluttering project both my house and mother's: gather greeting cards and sort into categories.

Hi, all. I'm up but have to focus on getting ready to take Germane to the groomer. She was good the rest of the night, but got me again just now. I'd like to give in and just paper that whole walk with pee pads. The problem is that in an apartment this size, everything is where it fits. There isn't another place to move things. The fan would be sitting right on the pee pads, and the big shoe/coat rack that isn't on wheels would in the line of fire, as would the boot tray. I don't know, I don't know. I'd better start getting ready to go.

Monday
Came out of the bathroom and walked through pee
I had put down an extra two pee pads because Germane has been peeing off the edge or just next to them. So she went in front of the bathroom and peed there
I can’t see it until I am at the right angle that the light shines off of it, so tracked it through the apartment
Put paper towels on the lake
Washed the floor
Spotted poop under the furniture while I was bending
Cleaned up the poop and washed the floor there
Made new Procrastaccomplishments sheet for the week
Checked apartment for random lakes of pee: none
Put away dry laundry
Put away big drying rack
Checked out the Thunder Bay lottery fundraiser. Looked up list of registered charities on government site, checked the official web site and cannot find any reference to the fundraiser though the advertisement has a link to their valid site. Pass on that.
Bought a ticket for my local hospital’s fundraiser.
Went to the kitchen to get some breakfast before I take Germane to the groomer. Spotted a wet spot in the pattern of the sole of my shoe. Went back and looked, and yes from this angle I can see the light shining off of the lake of pee that I walked through.
