I'm glad that you had a good sleep, and that your worries about the girls are being settled, helia.

I see a break in the rain. If I can get out to the car and see what needs to be done, I might not have to carry Germane to the vet in the rain for her appointment.

Taking a lunch break but need to be otd again - in 2 minutes. LOL! I don't think I'll make that.

Window washer guy did NOT come after all. He's struggling with a migraine headache. He will come Saturday or Tuesday - I hope.

Thank you, helia. It all worked out well. The rain stopped, so I was able to check under the hood. I found that the brake fluid is just below the minimum, which is what tripped the indicator, but not at a dangerous level. I can drive it to the parts store to top it up tomorrow.
The weather stayed stable, so I did carry Germane to the animal hospital. In good weather, it's a nice outing for her. It's getting darker and ominously windy, so I think that we were very lucky in our timing.
How do you feel about doing more administrative work for the school? Is it a break from teaching, or is it tedious work and you'd rather be with students?

Her appointment went well. The doctor is happy with her condition. I need to collect a fecal sample and bring it in.
Brought Germane home. More leisurely carry, with more smell breaks.

The car will be better handled tomorrow. For now, I'm looking at a good long break with my feet up.

So glad you had good weather to get Germane to her appointment, Doggedly. That's a great question about my job. I do enjoy the admin work, but sometimes it's not the most interesting, like the dealing with spread sheets and documents in the drive. Although, a nicely filled out spreadsheet is a pleasure! Part of the "admin" job, though, requires professional experience, like leading teacher meetings, supporting teachers, responding to their questions or dealing with materials - books, exercises, etc. Eventually, I will help with annual teacher observations. I guess my technical job is: "assistant to the academic director".

Home, finally. Attended the KS2J get together, went to my work out with AS, came home and had my yogurt + fruit (didn't have it for lunch). Now I need to get dinner. M told me about their adventures at a local Meijer store. I think the girls bought sample packs of different chips, sample packs of different cereals, some goldfish, and some candy - sour patch candy. They also ate a cinnabon (sp?). They admired the many variety of Oreos (actually, some of them were also new to me) - but I don't think they bought any. M basically introduced them to a lot of American junk food. LOL! They probably had a great time!

Next:
- chop up all the veggies for dinner: lots of mushrooms, onion, garlic, broccoli, red onion.
- prep a pan of roasted veggies
- make pasta + tomato sauce

L.ann, how did Little Bit feel about her first days at school. Will you go to her house to put her on the bus? Or will she come to you for breakfast and getting ready?
Doggedly, sounds like a good day of activity for Germane. Is she extra tired after all that?
helia, will this mean more or less time of payroll for you? any difference in flexibility of working hours?

I reviewed some of the postings on "getting to know you" thread. Our lives have changed some since those posting.

Today was convocation at local college for entering students and their parents who are leaving them off. I attended as well, since community members were invited to participate. Many of college staff encircled, by standing in the outermost aisles which form a "circle" (the building is square/diamond shaped - with entry doors at each corner, and the altar inside one corner)

After the convocation, I visited with the chair of the history department about my father and some of his works, also spoke with the chair of the nursing department about some donations for their clinical lab supplies and for their archives. SHE was so excited about the archival materials she almost jumped out of her skin!
A trip to Hobby Lobby was fruitful. Fabric is 30% off this week. I spent $100 of the gift card I have for fabric, and got enough for backs of 6 quilts for our mission quilters at church.
I'm planning a very big long road trip - about 4,000 miles - in September, I'll be gone about 3 weeks. I didn't get my Niagara Falls vacation in this summer, but now i will be driving to the west coast to see dsis2 for her birthday and take several things of mother's to her. Then dsis3 home is on the way back. She is having surgery, and I will be there for a week or so to be of help if needed. Then come home, and deal with autumn. I don't know if it will be a vacation or a working trip. But it will be "away" and I will drive the car that dfBS gave me. I have to have some of the arrangements for her funeral managed before I leave, particularly the caterer for the luncheon, and see that the church provides servers, as it's not my congregation and I don't konw how they do things there.
Now it's bedtime here.
Dsis3 and I will be working together tomorrow at mother's, after I do a couple errands and pay a a bill for mother's house.
