Hello, all. I have been wandering around my apartment, marvelling at all of the half-started tasks and things that need to be done. I have a wealth of To Dos, a richness of tasks, an abundance of choice. And a free day to benefit from all of this choice. They do say that what makes people dissatisfied with their jobs is a lack of control over decisions, lack of choice. I am about to be very, very satisfied.

Thank you for starting us off with a nice bird, Kittykatt. Have a good day at church.

Boo hiss boo to the person who stole your garbage bin, FrenchFly. When I had my house, it was so common that our garbage can lids would blow away, that we wrote our house number in permanent marker under the lid so that people could return them, and in big numbers on the outside of the garbage can. But your bin sounds heavy enough that it wouldn't have left on its own.

Enjoy the movie, L.Ann. That one's a classic! I have put a hold on the book that you recommended. It looks like fun!

I do best with 9 hours of sleep, helia. I hope that it has left you feeling good. Have a good time at church.

LOL DOggedly, you have a marvelous array of tasks to choose from an enjoy total freedom to do them in any order you want, lucky lady !

helia I hope everyone can go to the church if they want to and enjoy the experience. Interesting about your sudden need for more sleep. Maybe hormones ? Or a change in weather ? Probably nothing serious.

L.Ann, enjoy the movie ! 25 years already ! I feel a bit old suddenly :) I remmeber I never watched the last movie - but I read all the books. We're still waiting a bit to see the 5th movie and the other ones after that, as our kids are still a bit young for some of the darkness... Will you be going to the cabin for a long time ?

kittykatt sorry the organ needs repair, hopefully it won"t be too long or too expensive. Thanks for sharing your menu as always !

The yellow bin has been returned in front of our door. MrNG was getting ready to make the online complaint but decide he might check one more time... SOmeone must have taken it back int heir houses as their own and discovered only later that they now had two... There are names on the bins, our bins bear the name of the previous owner, but at least it tells opther poeple it' not their bin.
School bags are ready for Tuesday morning. Dinner is on the stove and only needs 10 more minutes of cooking. I'm typing while walking on the treadmill in the garage because MrNG made a kind of removable wooden shelf to put on top of the thing, and a laptop can sit on it. Clever but a bit heavy to lift...

TADAs
eat lunch (MrNG did lasagna with ravioles and zucchini)
file a complaint online for our missing garbage bin
back-to-school preps : pack DS10's bag for the first day, prepare DS8's school supplies and bag for first day
cook dinner (chick pea stew)
some exercise

TODO maybe not everything today
shower and relax
dinner
other to-dos, so many of them... wip
post list for next week
prep habit index cards for September
bedtime routine
bed reasonably early

Is lifting the wooden thing part of your workout, FrenchFly? ;) Woo hoo on all that you got done, and on your garbage can coming home with a name written on it. Your neighbour was probably very embarrassed when they realized that they had accidentally stolen your garbage can.

So, it turns out that what I feel like doing is to find Away to put the groceries. It's a game of hide and seek, but it counts as housework. But I think I'm going to have to roll the dw cart back into the closet. I can hear Germane banging her head on the bathtub, so she's probably ready to get up and have her heart pill and peanut butter.

Washed the soaking pot
Put more dishes in to soak
Put rice on to cook for Germane

15:
Prepped potatoes and vegetables for breakfast
Washed more dishes
Dumped the water and watched the basin bob around cheerfully in water that is not draining. It’s the weekend, so there is probably a spike in neighbours dumping oils and fats down their drain. It usually gets cleared up by Monday.

Breakfast!

FFB, I'm so happy your bin was returned!
And happy Mica's family is back.
We had a good day at church, good breakfast out, and now I'm taking a short nap.

Mmm... what a lovely Sunday lunch, Kitty. For your Sunday lunches, is the meat in the oven cooking while you're at church? Oh my goodness on the sudden breakdown of your pipe organ.
Oh dear on the non-draining sink, Doggedly. Is your laundry dry now?
Oh nice - you got the bin back, FFB. Does DS10 have a nice teacher this year? I don't know why I need more sleep. Maybe it's the low level stress of trying to figure out what to do with the two teens now in our house? It's been a good decade since we've had a teenager living in the house with us.
Enjoy your nap, Gma.

The girls did not accompany us to church. K doesn't attend church at all and SP didn't want to today. But AA attended today! We spend some time chatting with her afterward.

I'm currently at a coffee shop. I've done some calendar sort of work and now I'm going to work on my writing project for 30 minutes. Then, I'll go home and help get dinner on the table. We're eating early, 5:30 pm, since dd30 needs to be done by 7 pm.

Next:
- write for 30 minutes
- home; back exercises
- help get dinner

Later:
- WF?
- declutter my bedside table
- long walk OR jog/ walk again
- read
- writing time, maybe join dh in a coffee shop
- this might be a good day to figure out a new knitting project
- any brain dump items I can work on?
- 6 - dinner for 7 - bread, rot. chicken, cheese, pizzas, watermelon
- after dinner clean up
- duolingo
- update WW
- update MFP

TaDas!
- up; weighed self - down a pound - of course, after I posted my weekly weigh in yesterday
- coffee
- dw 1/2 unloaded
- email deletions + weather website - it's supposed to rain/ drizzle until 4 pm
- s2s and self care
- make the bed
- check on the girls - don't want to go to church today
- 9:50 otd to church; church service
- chat with MM and AA
- home; lunch - chat with M; Cs say they can't make dinner bc it's J12yo's first day of school tomorrow. Hmm.... She and I (and all of us) wonder about that reasoning since it is also SP and K's first day of school - in a new school in a new country - in a foreign language. It is also dd28's first day as a new teacher - and M and Dd30's first day as graduate students. . . Seems like a strange reason, considering the number of first days in our group -- but it's not uncommon that they decide not to join us. There might be another reason behind the stated reason.
- girls home - chat with M and the girls
- finish reclaiming the kitchen
- coffee shop
- chat with dh and dd30
- update to do lists in my gmail accounts (personal + work)
- payroll: update timesheet
- payroll: update academics checklist

Last CI before bed. Now the nights are starting to draw in and the mornings are getting darker, I'm starting to need more sleep to have any chance of functioning like a reasonably normal person. It's not time for the light box yet, but it wouldn't hurt to dig it out from its summer hiding place in the near future.

I'm glad your recycling bin has been returned, FFB.

WTG with all your "15's" Dogged!

I'm glad church and breakfast were both good - food for both the the spirit and the body, Gma!

Helia, if I'm cooking a casserole, then, yes, I turn on the oven on a low setting before we leave home. If it's a roast then, if I'm visiting DF E, DH puts in it in the oven at the designated time and temperature, so when I get home I just need to par boil the potatoes and put them in the oven to roast, and do the veg. If not visiting DF E, then I put the meat to roast when we get back, followed by the potatoes. Our church service is quite early (9.30 am) , we tend to eat lunch relatively late (around 3 pm) and, as there's only 2 of us, the joint/ chicken etc is usually quite small, even taking leftovers into account.

I've had a quiet afternoon, reading the parish magazine , and sharing my lap with a cat. :D
