Thank you for your well wishes everyone. I think my legs might be a little better today.

NO worries at all, Gma. We know you're busy!! Glad dsis3 is there to help.
Pre-vacation mode! Yay! When are you going, Doggedly?!
Are you reading your grandkids' essays, L Ann? You made a very good point to Kitty. It does seem odd.
I hope the new place is good for your mom, Lauralind. Yes, it's sad that someone has to pass away to make a room available. I hope you get relief from your headache and neck pain. I think my leg issue is more than sore muscles. I suspect my sciatic nerve is being irritated or something, leading to the throbbing pain in the back of my thighs after I stand up and take about 10 steps -- but it's less today, thank goodness. Did you get ds' schedule settled?

I'm having some lunch. K, S2, and J have come and gone. The window washer guys are still here. They've been here about 2.5 hours and are still working. We have A LOT of windows in this house + we're having them do screens as well + they're doing the old windows with storm windows (in SP and K's rooms). Those are the only 2 rooms in the house that don't have new dandy windows. They're doing inside and outside. . . Gardener KJ is here now too.

Next:
- move my car back onto the driveway
- some qt
- run the dw; unload later
- pay the window washer guys when they're done

Later:
- some qt
- write up the menu plan
- pay window washer guys
- move everything back that was moved for them
- after lunch clean up
- park: walk on the flat
- Kroger
- put groceries away
- progress wrapping baby gifts
- read chapter in book? MM
- update timesheet
- other things?
- s/s main bathroom
- bake cornbread
- make a salad
- put leaf in table
- help set the table
- 6:30 - 8:30ish host Tuesday dinner
- after dinner clean up
- duolingo
- update WW
- update MFP

TaDas!
- up; weighed self - a little lower
- coffee
- email deletions
- confirmed haircut tomorrow
- replied to carpet cleaner re: prep for tomorrow
- communicated with K, S2, and J
- school drop off
- K and SP unloaded the dw! (I didn't realize this until I got home.)
- back exercises
- s2s and self care
- squeegeed and wiped shower
- made the bed
- finished reclaiming the kitchen
- moved stuff from windows in SP's room (OK in K's room)
- cut up strawberries
- 9:30-11:30 S2, K, and J here
- 10 - window washer guys arrived; I talked to them about what we'd like for them to do
- wrote check for KJ; when she arrived, I gave it to her
- wrote check for lawn guys
- made grocery list for dinner tonight; we're cooking for 8 + 4 = 12 people
- having some lunch

Breakfast! Germane is delighted to see me back on rice and vegetables so that she can have random bits from my plate. I tried to give her just her favourite dog food. That was determinedly snubbed until I added rice and probiotic. I am sneakily happy to see her enthusiastic about eating.

Hi, Gma.

LOL, I should have realized, L.Ann. I'm glad that you survived it. ;)

This time two weeks from now, I'll be lounging in a chair at my db's house, helia. :)
I'm glad that you found window washers, helia, and that you don't have to do all of those windows yourself. Especially with back problems!

Tuesday
Put on a pot of coffee
Cleaned up after Germane
Heart pill and peanut butter for Germane
Made pre-vacation grooming booking for Germane

15 X 2:
Cleaned up after dog
Sorted dirty laundry
Breakfast for Germane
Treats for Germane
Started putting away dry dishes

Up next:
Sit for a bit, then shower/wash hair
After that, I'll check the state of the laundry rooms and do two loads either today or tomorrow

Hello everyone!

Helia, part of the problem for DH and many of his cohort, is that he's taking voluntary redundancy (VR) as well as early retirement, which means two separate departments are involved, they don't talk to each other, and neither seems to know what the other is doing. However today, he was finally contacted by the solicitors that the Union retain to check through the VR packages to ensure they're done properly and fairly and that the recipient understands what they're entitled to. So that's another tiny step in the right direction. DH is planning to use some of his VR payout to top up his pension. This is quite usual, but also adds another layer of complexity!

Gma, I can imagine.clearing your DMum's house is an enormous task. So glad DSis #3 is there to help.

Laura, that's good news your DMum is finally moving. I have to keep signing in a lot as well.

WTG getting your walk in early,.L.Ann!

How nice you're going to stay with your DBro, Dogged! I'm very glad Germane is enthusiastic about her food once more.

Today has been pleasantly cool and, with the exception of one short shower, dry. So, I had a nice walk along by the stream, followed by a productive time in my garden. I pruned another rose, finished cutting down the montbretia, and took out a rose that was really struggling. Ive also started the mammoth task of pruning my climbing rose. This gets done ever several weeks. I start by taking out all the obvious bits and slowly work towards the framework.

This afternoon was the usual cleaning of the sitting room - that's looking much better now. Oh,.and Ive officially started my annual decluttering/ deep cleaning, as I've cleaned out and decluttered one small drawer in the bedroom. I usually keep spare, unused toiletries there, and there were some I know I'll never use, but they can be divided between the beauty bank at the library, and my shoebox for Moldova / Ukraine nearer Christmas.

It's great that your DH has a union and lawyers looking out for him, Kittykatt. A walk by a stream in cool weather sounds lovely!

LOL, you can see that reading a book of essays is unusual enough today that it pricks up everyone's ears, L.Ann. I do remember working my way through more than one book of George Orwell's essays, but that was many years ago.

My Inner Brat, who could teach a master class in procrastination or persuasive sales techniques or something, has kept me glued to my seat reworking my monthly budget sheet with adjustments to pension and fixed expenses and out of the shower. I am pleased to have a better understanding of my finances before I go on a vacation spending spree (likely to be muted this time), but Inner Brat's reign is coming to an end. Time to get my head wet!

Tuesday
Put on a pot of coffee
Cleaned up after Germane
Heart pill and peanut butter for Germane
Made pre-vacation grooming booking for Germane

15 X 2:
Cleaned up after dog
Sorted dirty laundry
Breakfast for Germane
Treats for Germane
Started putting away dry dishes

15 X 4:
FACE: set up updated income/expense for rest of year and set up August section and filled out August expenses

I don't know Jesmyn Ward, L Ann. I googled her. Do you like her writing? Her books look interesting.
Understanding one's finances is a great thing, Doggedly! Hoping you can enjoy your vacation spending spree!
I see Kitty. It sounds like your dh's retirement is a bit more complicated, maybe not the typical retirement.

It's almost 4 pm, and I'm finally able to go get the ingredients for dinner tonight. I'm off to Kroger.

Next:
- Kroger
- put everything away
- make cornbread

More done:
- finished lunch; after lunch clean up done
- moved car back into the driveway
- ran dw
- wiped down LR window sills and the top of book cases under the windows
- moved some things back to their spots by windows
- messages with dh
- long conversation with KJ who needed to come in and use the bathroom + get ice for her drink -- it's hot outside now, like 89F
- just paid window washer guys
