helia, don't forget that all the care (and the time) you've been giving your kids and your home is what has allowed your husband to earn the money he is earning! Glad to hear the bursitis is getting better - it does indeed need some rest! So sorry about your friend's diagnosis - but medicine is powerful these days and the fact that the husband is a doctor himself (and therefore has access to more knowledge himself and also people to talk to) will be great help!

Safe travels, Gma.
Thank you for starting us off, Kittykatt. Have a good time at church.
I'm glad that you got to sleep in, trissie, and hope that your body lets you sleep as usual tonight.
I hope that the Aikido-Aikitaiso works out, FrenchFly. It could be a little break for you.
trissis had a great idea: time with Dad on Saturday mornings is probably what your ds's would value the most.
I'm glad that you and your DH were able to talk things through, helia. It is so important to be heard, and to be able to hear the other person's perspective. Especially as what you were describing didn't sound like your DH's usual attitude.
That is great, that your bursitis is letting up. I would happily send you some of my laziness in exchange for a bit of your motivation to help out.

Oh, look--End Of Page 1. There's my motivation, right on cue.
Sunday
Sprang out of bed and tried to drop paper towels where Germane was peeing before it could flow under the pen and to my desk. Germane responded by walking in circles through the pee, which made it hard for me to see where the pee was.
Finally grabbed Germane and dabbed her on her pee pads over and over to blot her paws
Heart pill and peanut butter for Germane
15:
Cleaned up after Germane
Washed floor of Germaneβs pen
Washed floor in front of apartment
Put on a pot of coffee
15:
Checked laundry and put away dry
Put rice on to cook for Germane and self
Made breakfast sandwich
Put away dry cutlery
Put down some dog food for Germane

Hello, FFB, Trissie ,Helia and Dogged!
FFB, I think it's probably natural for parents to want their kids to have opportunities, but sometimes the kids preferences/ abilities don't quite align with those of the parents. When I was about the age of your DS8, my mother was very keen I should be a brownie / girl guide. Her reasoning was that she enjoyed it when she was a young girl, and therefore I would enjoy it. I think I went once (maybe twice?) and refused to go again. Then there was the tennis coaching lessons. My mother again felt.it would be a "social asset" for me to be a competent tennis player. Two big problems: 1) my complete lack of coordination ,.and 2) my complete lack of interest. However , I did join a nature club, a music group and the choir. Is there a club for something that each of your DS's is interested in, and would get them off their screens? (Not necessarily connected to the school. Over here there are several community programmes that have activities for kids.).
Trissie, I'm glad you were able to have a long sleep and a slower morning. I hope DBD feels better soon.
Helia, I'm glad your bursitis is starting to feel better. The coffees were uneventful, thank goodness! Today's menu was roast chicken with a garlic butter, pepper and herb coating, roast potatoes, gravy, tenderstem broccoli, carrots sugar snap peas, followed by apple crumble and cream.
Dogged,.I see Germane is keeping you on your toes today!
I'm going to do a little in my garden next - just some watering and dead heading.

Kittykatt thanks for making me think again

Of course I may be projecting on my child things I feel he needs but he actually wouldn't need nor even like... also I think I'm repeating to myself things I heard my mom say : "kids need to do something that isn't school, every year"or something like this. Like, a year spent not doing some music or sports is a year wasted. Today I think that a day spent in front of a screen is a day wasted, but it is true that kids can find ways to make good use of a day as long as they stay away from screen. And even sometimes using screens.
helia, really sorry for your DF and her DH, and all who love her of course. It's good that she is surrounded by people with medical knowledge and by people who will be here for her. On another subject entirely, thanks for sharing your weekly menus.
Doggedly, sorry you're having so much cleaning up so early in your day.

Baked tea (in Czech: peΔenΓ½ Δaj) is a traditional, caffeine-free fruit beverage made by baking chopped or blended fruit with sugar and spices in an oven until thick and caramelized.
What It Is and How It Is Made
Ingredients: Fresh or frozen fruits (like berries, apples, pears, or citrus) combined with sugar, and warm spices like cinnamon, cloves, and ginger.
The Process: The ingredients are roasted together at a high temperature until the fruit releases its natural juices and softens.
Storage: The thick, jam-like concentrate is spooned into jars to preserve it for later use.
How to Serve It
Hot Drink: Spoon a small amount of the fruit mixture into a mug, add hot water, and stir for a warming winter drink.
Cold Drink: Pour cold water and ice over a spoonful of the mixture for a refreshing summer cooler.
Topping: Eat the leftover fruit straight from the jar or use it as a topping for yogurt and porridge.

Since I discovered small bags of frozen fruit while defrosting the freezer, this batch contains plums, apples, chokeberries, black currant and gooseberries.
Every batch is unique in this house, based on what fruit I have on hand

FFB, iirc , you often visit the library as a family? Reading about something can often spark an interest and lead to a new hobby. I don't know if the Boy Scouts is a "thing" in France? DH had a lot of fun being a Scout, and also learnt some useful skills (including cooking!)
Trissie, that all sounds delicious as well as a good way of using up odds and ends!
I've had a relaxing time in my garden, tidying up after yesterday, (when I trimmed back the ground cover in the front garden and cut down the rhododendron in the back garden). I'm not sore what to do with the space formerly occupied by the rhododendron, so I've just spread bark on the ground for now, so it looks tidy.
The cats have had their supper, so I need to post my list for the week, and see if I can get an early-ish night!
