Hmmmm...quiet in the village today! Is everyone sleeping in like I did? Actually, I took a muscle relaxer last night with a couple of ibuprofen, and it rather knocked me out. Unfortunately, it did so before I made it up to bed, so I woke at about 3am with a rather stiff neck  Then I stayed up until DH got home from work shortly after 6am, went back to bed, and didn't get up until after noon! Ah well...the critters had been fed earlier, so they left me alone, and I apparently needed the rest.

Since today is the first day of my holidays, I think I'm going to take it exceptionally easy today...a few errands, a bit of puttering about the house and garden, and some sewing. Oh...and my Masterpiece Theatre tonight...must have my Inspector Lewis fix! 8-)

I am home from getting dd and a couple of others to K-town. Quick trip and wonderful weather here today, cooler than we have had.

Kids were all talking about taking a nap this afternoon, which I am going to go do as well. :)

Just found I didn't post this when I got home a little after two p.m.

I've now very successfully napped - I had set an alarm to sleep for an hour but when it went off I turned it off and slept longer.

I am browning ground beef and onions to cook chili tonight - first time of the fall. Temp is to be around 40 tonight but weather service statement is that some areas may have scattered frost.

Happy Birthday to Sunny!

Our day has been taken up with company. Dstepson, ddil and dstepgd were all here. HRH and dstepson were able to do the plumbing and some furniture repair at my ddad's house and the rest of us stayed here. We went out on the porch and the girls hula-hooped in the yard. I swept the porch. My ddad was really too cold and we didn't realize it - he eventually went back inside and watched football.

Dinner is cooking. I should be paying it more attention.

I had two successful pastoral care type phone calls. And I spent far too long reading over recipes, deciding how I wanted to cook the chicken thighs tonight. I settled on taking one recipe, changing the ingredients and cooking style and hoping for the best.

Harriet... You are really super duper cool with your banners :D

Sunny, A very merry birthday to you!!!

I've had a good weekend. I worked hard to get all of my weekly errands done BEFORE Sat. Now there's a new concept. Even my laundry was washed and put up/ I didn't quite know how to handle myself.

Willis has had a strange something going on with his outer ear....notice that the hair around its base was missing....Tried all know ointments know to man...and a few women too...including Monistat. Finally had to give and take him to the vets yesterday morning....Notice it was only in one ear and not the other, so I didn't think his swimming had anything to do with it. Turns out he's just like a child. Inner ear infection...bacteria and yeast. See I was on the right track ;)

Anyway a bunch of shots and meds later, he is on the mend. I also discovered if I take a Beggin strip, break it in half, apply peanut butter to is and then stick the pill in it like a sandwich, he will eat it. Boy thats better than sticking it down his throat. Know he must like it better as well.

Fall break starts this Friday and I am READY for it. Even Mother Nature is contributing. Our end of the week high is suppose to be 80  Finally!!!!! It was 103 today. I can't wait to sleep with the windows opened!!!! Have a bunch of things I'd like to do, and hopefully will work in a hike or two. One morning will be taken up so that I can got to the AZ retirement dept and find out what all is involved with making this my last year. Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait. Lucylee I have no, none, denata regrets about doing this. In fact if I could make it happen tomorrow I would :D When you're hot, you're hot, and when you're done, you're DONE.

Keep thinking about all the cool things I can do with Norma next year. She and her DH are always doing cool things. They're so busy they makes my head spin. Best part is my Sweetie LOVES being around her and her DH. How lucky is that!!!

Ok, I'm off. I want to get my clothes organized for tomorrow. Need to go in extra early to do some work without being interrupted all the time. I'm on a roll and going to ride it for as long as I can. See Y'all later...

Hey Lucylee...your team played my son's team yesterday, and we know YOU won. Next week DS is going to the OTHER Alabama game. Even thought I'm Tennessee orange, I broke down and ordered a U of AL shirt. However, I told him if he thought I was going to wear that red shirt when they played TN, he needed to think again. I love my ds, but not that much ;)

Loved all the colorful birthday greetings! Thank you all! It's hard to believe that another year has gone by again.

We're having a quiet day here today; ds called to say dfam#2 won't come here today. Ddil#2's dmom came to them for a weekend visit, so they will see us some time during the week.

OKay, we have used that same whey protein mix for a few years now, but never tried smoothies from it. Sounds delicious!

Dee, wish the weather was better for ddil's march and for dgs's race!

Aww--poor Willis. Hope he continues to get better Cowinkie. A couple of our dgkids are prone to get ear infections easy and it's no fun for them either. They don't like the meds any more than Willis does.

Yesterday was a long day for us. We were up and out of the house 7:30 am and didn't get home again until 10 pm, except for a quick stop to let the dogs out and give them a snack. Ddil#1 had asked if we wanted to go to the pier on local beach for the annual Make A Difference Fishing tournament for handicapped children. Ds called from a fast food parking lot to say his truck wouldn't start, so we met him and took everyone out to the beach - all 8 of us in our Impala! Ddil's dmom met us after fishing was over and took them home and they had the truck towed home. We went up there for dinner and the evening. Truck is being fixed today! Anyway we had a good time spending the day with them!

Well, this sat here for a time while we had supper and phone call from ds#3. Hope it's been a good day for everyone.
