(((Nancy))) for the rough night. That is GREAT that your dgs is practicing cursive writing. That is REALLY becoming a lost skill in schools today. (I figure there's no way to test it on a standardized test, so elementary teachers think why bother. But it's really something teenagers today have problems with.)

Good morning or afternoon, depending on your timezone!

Debating whether to go to the dr. for my back problems. Been giving me fits for the last couple of days, don't know what I did. Today I can stand up straight when I walk, but it's still very, very, very tender and sore. A small thing compared to what others deal with daily.

Re ditches: I've never heard the term bar ditch. We call the ditches on either side of a road, especially unpaved, country roads, "grader ditches". That is to distinguish them from ordinary ditches, which can be any place and are usually created by erosion. A ditch must be a certain length to distinguish it from a plain old hole. Man-made ditches tend to have an identifying adjective attached like "grader ditch" or "irrigation ditch". OKay's bar ditches sound exactly like our grader ditches except for the name.

At Presbytery working again today. But it turns out the meeting is small so no-one is coming to buy anything. Closing this place really does make sense from a financial point of view although I still disagree with the shutting of the library.

Ds will be at my house, doing laundry, when I get home. Dinner tonight is all planned and the meat is defrosted, ready to start cooking when I get home. I'm feeling rather organized right now. Not creative, but organized and that's a good feeling too! Until the taxes are done, creative shouldn't be one of my feelings!

LO is on his 3rd set of clothes today. We sure have had fun during the process of getting them soaking wet and dirty though.

I'm trying a couple of new things (to us).
#1 = Instant reward. i bought an assortment of little candies and am giving one each time LO is successful.
#2 = Learning character traits. We are starting with Attentiveness. As I read through the workbook, I am looking for areas that I need to work on. LO is a fast learner.....I hope I can do as well.

I need to go s2s & color my hair. I'm really dragging today... last day of total freedom before back to school on Monday. Sunday is a slow day, but still -- an alarm clock day. That is the determining factor, you know.

I continued my wheel chair creative day by some how pulling apart the connection that adds an extension.

So I took a nap. I thought that would be safe and I could be creative in my mind and dreams. Jake also needed a break from creativity he decided to rearrange once again the pillows on the couch, the throw on my chair and the pillows and quilt on my bed. He was busy.

I had one creative success. My dill vegetables came out great. I have a recipe for dill carrots and I used the recipe of vinegar, water, red pepper flakes, salt, dill seed, garlic and fresh dill. I poured it over broccoli, cauliflower, green onions pieces, zucchini, and carrot matchsticks. I just tasted it and it is good. I wanted it for lunches with a half a sandwich or cheese and crackers.

My creativity isn't over. I still need to get some collapsed shipping boxes to the garage tonight when I do a Shadow in the Night. I do all of my buying through the Internet. I needed a new popcorn popper my current one was cracked. It was a plastic one. The new one is glass with a handle. It looks like it will be great. My dill seed also came and my kids snow shovel.

I can shovel snow with nothing bigger than a pancake turner. But the kids shovel will allow me to push snow that is in my way. Hopefully they will understand what I need and do a better job this winter.

-- got dmil's mail
-- paid a bill
DH is delivering dmil's supper now, and I should get busy with something!
My choices are endless...
WHY can't my motivation & energy ever match my choices???

-- EDITING TO SAY -- This was an EXTREMELY frustrating process. I realized it was copying ALL files, even if there was already a file there w/the same name. Sooo... I spent a LONG time deleting copies from my hard drive, renaming files to make them more sensible, etc. Then deleted ALL files from the external drive. YIKES!!! For some reason, ALL files were deleted from hard drive at the same time. AAUAUGUGHHH!!! Clicked "Undo Delete." All is well. External drive will just have to keep extra copies for a while, I guess. This is giving me a headache. But at least my hard drive is much better organized now.
EDITING AGAIN TO SAY -- But further complicating my confusion... when I look at My Computer/My Passport, it says "100% Free" -- BUT -- when I go ahead and click on Documents in My Passport, it shows me all the documents that should be there. * sigh *
When I unplug the Passport and look at My Documents, they're still there, so I guess everything is okay.
Computers are very frustrating to me.
EDITING AGAIN TO SAY -- It did this with "MY PICTURES" too. So I just deleted all the copies of those. * sheesh *

Almost finished with this but got distracted, listening to the Grand Ole Opry, and started searching the Internet to see what other people think Billie Joe McAllister threw off the Tallahatchie Bridge.
Wonder in Nicole Kidman is at the Opry w/husband Keith Urban, who is being inducted as a member tonight.

I'm still working on the heart rate monitor situation. I love having the reading on the treadmill but would like it for when I'm walking, doing housework and at rest. Ds suggested looking at the used sites here in town. Sure enough, bingo! I'm arranging a meeting for tomorrow. The model gets decent reviews and is priced at $25 which is also cheaper than buying new. I'll wear my monitor strap and see if it picks it up automatically (it comes with a strap of its own but since my other two straps are interchangeable, I thought I'd check.)

Dinner was a good. Ds really appreciated it and ate up all the 'leftovers.'

The hockey game is going very well. Ottawa called up a kid so tonight is his first NHL hockey game. He scored an assist in the first period on the winning goal. Talk about a fairy tale story, first game in the NHL is a playoff game, IN NEW YORK's Madison Square Gardens (he's from a small town in Western Canada), and he's part of a winning play in his first minutes on ice.

Edited to add: ds has headed home and I've arranged a pick-up of the heart rate monitor for tomorrow afternoon. I think I'll treat myself to lunch out at Subway again.

Where do I begin...
to tell the story of this day... Wow.

We went to the Highland Games (HRH staying with my ddad and taking him to Tractor Supply). I believe Sunny was going, too. We walked miles. There were a bejillian people. I am just exhausted, but we had a good time. Dd13 found a bow and arrow set, not a toy but not really "regulation", either - she likes it. The boys had fun getting their "passports" stamped at all the Clan tents, and they got their photo made with real-ish swords and were given so many shortbread cookies, strawberries and other treats at the different Clan tents. We had lunch on the lawn under a giant oak, and watched all the bands performing together from the stands. We saw the women's archery competition and my pick won - she was a power! We watched several Highland Dance competitions.

little britches stopped the official Scottish Hammer Throw men's Heavy Athletics competition. He ducked under the rope and ran onto the field. DangerBoy ran after him and stopped his forward progress at about 20 feet in, but they had already announced the suspension of the competition with all eyes turned toward us! I had ducked under the fence after them, so ran to them fast and grabbed little britches up and ran back to the rope, handing him off to his Dad, then ducked back under with DangerBoy as fast as we could. Yikes. Just thinking about all that makes me wonder how my back is going to feel tomorrow, but adrenaline was on my side at the time.

DangerBoy5 won two out of three medals in the 5-to-7-year Heavy Athletics category: the Stone Put and the Weight Throw. I was cheering like a nutty grandmother. He just went without his hearing aids and glasses the whole time and did fine - not a problem at all. Then dsonil anchored (rope around waist) the winning side in the tug of war, with dd32 also on his team, and I was sounding like a banchee by then. I am a very vocal cheer-er.

The sun was out almost all the time. Thankfully, I had 50 spf sunscreen and we thought to bring it. Dd32 put it on her face 3 times but her arms only once, so her face made it but her arms are in trouble. (She is so fair skinned she burns fast.) I warned dsonil but he'd have none of my sunscreen and paid for it on his bald spot. (smile) He announced on the way back, "Your mother will be happy to know the top of my head is uncomfortable.", and I assured him I was quite gratified to hear it. Back home I found the aloe product and they were both happy. Me? I wore a broad brimmed hat!!! (with hair tucked under it - I color my hair, and I don't want any interesting shades showing up unexpectedly after too much sun)

Then it was time for WonderBoy's bday party. HRH and I lit the candles together trying to get ahead of WonderBoy's pace, but he blew them out almost before we'd gotten them lit! LOL! He was so excited. He liked ds' present more than ours, but that's okay. Dd13 says remember, tractors last longer and will still be played with when other toys are tossed. Cake and ice cream were a huge hit. Hide and seek proved again that WonderBoy can't be beaten - he can make himself so small!

Wow is right Harriet! What a day full of wild experiences. Glad you got to go out with all the "clan" and have a fun day - you deserve it! Speaking of sunscreen, my DS and I are very fair skinned and we use 75 spf and put it on several times when we're out in the sun. My daily moisturizer has 15 spf in it.

I'm still tracking 2 hrs. a day on paper decluttering/office area clean out. Today is my 13th day on my Don't Break the Chain calendar -a big X a day.

Time for nightly clean-up - and a good night's sleep, been a long day.
