Kathryn, does your gyn office know about all this? I know you have been in contact with doctors more than you ever really wanted to over the last few months, but does someone who understands the female body know all that's going on? If not, consider bugging somebody with daily phone reports? This is why they get the big bucks, and they may have a thought today, or a thought by tomorrow. OR, call and give a second doctor the opportunity to hear you and understand/advise, assuming that at the least, both a general practitioner and a gyn should take interest in your well-being.
HRH is home today and we have been stepping on each other's feelings. He has gone out to mow grass and it's the very heat of the day, which bothers me. Dd13 is home feeling sick, and now she can't go outdoors like I advised her, to get even a little sun all afternoon, because she's afraid the cut grass will bother her allergies. So I am running out of ideas to help either one of them along.
Dd needed a teacher's e-mail printed but the teacher had sent it in neon green. (why?) I changed it to black in a document to print because I'm low on yellow ink, but the printer balked. HRH put into a new document, deleted all waiting documents out of the line-up to print, still nothing, with the printer insisting we must not know it is out of yellow ink!!! Sigh. I told dd she could hand-write this info faster than we can get it printed.
Plan B day -
It had to be Desk Day for both households this morning - not really the Weekly Plan, but Plan B, at least, and I'm caught up, all the way to taking the mail to the box when I took the trash. I had the (tall clunky) truck, and HRH had tossed the bags in willy-nilly because he's taller and stronger than me and wasn't thinking of how much trouble that can be. Sigh. I couldn't reach one and couldn't lift one, and ended up having to climb into the bed of the truck, which is so tall it requires me to sit down on the tailgate, swing my legs over and get up from that position! I don't mind that in our driveway so much, but not out in public, please! I checked on the other house, picked up the loaf of bread and bottle of Downy and - oops, just realized - forgot to flush toilets an extra time. Also didn't have a clicker for the alarm, so that's not set. Have I sighed already? Sigh.
Am I not going to have to put some kind of limits on my ddad's sweets? He is always concerned that there be sweets in the house for him and that's fine, happy he has an appetite, but he goes through them so quickly. Yesterday after dark I set a half-cake pound cake from the nice grocery out on the counter and it was in plain view, of course, under their clear cover. It is all gone as of noon today. He ate every slice himself. It was bought for him, but this is amazing. I am thinking maybe go completely over to cookies, if only so that I can hide most.
Dd has a clean room, will wonders never cease, bed made, surfaces available! Dstepson is bringing his other-side-of-the-family cousin over to visit, so it's none too soon.
Waiting to hear from DH. Mom just called and said DDad fell out of his chair and can't get up. She contacted their nurse (hospice) and he said to wait an hour and see how DDad is doing then. DMom put a pillow under DDads head as he was laying on the floor waiting for help to arrive After talking to hospice, DMom called me to come help, however DH was immediately available so he went to help DDad get up since I'm not suppose to be lifting anything over 50 lbs for another couple of weeks. DDad is so fragile that anything unusual is life threatening. LO is asleep - there is no use in interrupting his nap because taking a cranky 3 year old into the situation won't help anyone. Sooo here I sit..... waiting to find out how DDad is doing.
this morning LO and I spent 3 hours outside working on the yard. We mowed until it was too heavy for the mower to go through, then we would rake and load up the cart. Repeat, repeat, repeat. I didn't attempt to count the number of cart loads of grass clippings we raked up, but wouldn't be surprise if it was a dozen or more.
What a difference a year makes! Last year we were in extreme drought without anything to feed livestock. Everyone sold their herds. This year the situation is completely opposite. The grass is growing so well that many are baling already (in APRIL!!!). The local live stock yard (buy/sell cattle) is talking about shutting down because there aren't any cattle to sell. Our pasture grass is over knee deep. DBro has been working to buy cattle locally to put on it for several weeks without success yet. I guess they will have to be shipped in from another state.
Sitting here yammering on about this-N-that is not distracting me. I think I will do a few cards and give myself something to do while waiting....
Back from the border run. Saved about 15% net ($10 of gas and bridge tolls has to be figured in, time is the same as driving into the city from here so I don't figure my time.) Had lunch at Price Chopper, listening to the President's speech on CNN. Dh questioned the 'small' drink cup (24oz) but was happy to have the fried chicken for lunch. I didn't let him taste my mashed potatoes because I didn't feel like sharing with him - they are wonderful, probably due to a ton of butter or other not-good-for-me additions. It really is a different culture in the US than Canada - no mistaking upstate NY for home despite all the Ontario license plates in the parking lot!
Had diet pepsi for lunch. They didn't have caffeine free diet Dr. P so I didn't buy anything (prices are the same there as home for soft drinks.) We'll see how I do with a bit of caffeine in my system. I basically just feel wiped out.
Harriet Another difference between US and Canada... you only get a GP and all specialists, of which a GYN counts, are by referral only. My GP is aware of the unusual spacing and heavier flow of the past two periods but not of this extra-long one (since April 11th with the heavy flow since the 15th.) I'll give it to two weeks of heavy flow and then go in unless my health drops off dramatically tomorrow. In which case I have to go to the ER because my doctor's office is only open on weekdays. I figure birth control pills should fix this but because of family history I'm trying to avoid using them. But my GP offered them to me last time I was in.
I'm hoping that investing $20 in supplies will help stem the flow. Looking at the tampon box when I got home, I realize they are made in Canada. But are 30% cheaper in the US (hence the border run today.)

Back from town ~ a guy in the next booth where we had lunch was on the phone saying he needed some one to drive an old tractor in the parade @ the co. fair tomorrow. So I volunteered hubby to do it; he tried to say he was upset that I did that but the gleem in his eye and inability to keep from cracking a smile gave him away! So this will give us some thing diff. to talk about. {Other than the old couple down the street getting a divorce.} H. got his new fishing lisc. today too so will be doing that he heard the bass were biting yea for a bit of solitude!
Got food and I had some finds a shawl I can wear to church to change up some outfits.
A couple of towels that are not raggedy like some of the ones we're using, and a math quiz
thing for when dgson is here and forgets home work. A book for me and stuffed toy.
Hi all - I've been reading but not posting much. Still doing paper declutter everyday - Day 19 now. I can see progress, but paper work is very slow because it is so dense/decision requiring work. And I'm dealing with clearing out a filing cabinet with papers going back to 2007 - yikes. I think that was the last time I had my paperwork organized!
Thinking of you and your busy lives - it inspires me to keep moving. Off to fix some dinner and relax.
OKay - Hope all is well - as well as can be for dFather.
I hope the sale yard doesn't close as that is so short sighted.
Kathryn - Hope someone who knows all the ins and outs of HRT / pill / hormone ratios can help you with a non damaging for you solution. (At its worst my periods were heavy to flooding at times, shedding clots, lasted 3 weeks with a few days inbetween. It really was part of my going off the rails. The good news is it doesn't last for ever.) Heavy prolonged periods are not good for you. Please see general doc and see if they can help. Do you need avoid oesteragen? sry sp? At the very least you may be anemic. I know I had trouble with reactions to pill too. Only one I ever took sucessfully was a mini pill taken continuously with no grace for missing dose time by an hour. So I didn't do that when perimenopausal. I do have an oestregan cream to use as needed still. I have old age skin .... Though even it caused hormonal changes to breasts and spotting when I started with it.
Harriet - fruit cake freezes well. can you lop it into rations and freeze to hide it? prayers for your family.
Pdoc and I decided to let go the "mature person" opportunities offered this week. I will add their situation to my concerted prayer list.
Voting day today.
Just begin. Living this day, today Take a reality check; Remember to breathe; Do what I am able to do. Look for the good in all.
I just finished testing with security. He had me push my pendant and then pull my bathroom alarm. They changed the way the alarms go off on their pagers. It not only gives the location but gives our phone number.
I am the guinea pig here because they just need to give me the basics and and I follow easily.
I also let them know if I see something that shouldn't be. Tonight the door to the stairs was propped open with a doll rod. They closed it.
Neither one of us could figure out why it was propped open. It has an automatic closure since it is a fire door because it is a stairwell.
Glad you are a good tester Indiana!
