LOL, Harriet! You're probably right about Macs, OTOH, yesterday Macs sniffed the guy over but didn't carry on. Must be something fresh! (Or it could be that ferocious vacuum cleaner he brought in?

Re: FRIDAY FANS
Yuck to exploding watermelons!
Smiling that Lucylee got to babysit. That could be me one day! Think I may be one of those crazy grandmas that will move heaven and earth to get to the grandchildren.
Glad the power came back on for Twins'. I really feel for all those still without power across WV and Ohio. Last August, when Tropical Storm Irene hit NE, power was off for 3 days. I was alone, but had filled bathtub with water which allowed me to flush toilets and wash myself up a little each day. Had made lots of ice ahead of time, so threw a few things in small cooler and lived off that. At night, I sat and "watched" the radio by candlelight. Got hooked on local talk radio! Then had another power outage during October ice storm. That was not as fun. House freezing and limbs down all over yard. Both times had to throw out everything in fridge.
DH is here today. Must go do something to help the cause around here...yardwork, painting, something.

Re: FRIDAY FANS
60-94* Today’s temps.
Drum roll please … I’ve made the bed tada!
coffee has been brewed as well.
I've been fighting a bit of a case of summer sniffles I’m not moving much more than turtle speed around here today. I have an errand that needs to be done for h. before noon so I'd best get a move on if I want to beat the heat. Done!

Re: FRIDAY FANS
LOL at your post Harriet. You do have a way with words and a very quick wit. I have never dreamed about anyone on the forum before, but last night I had a dream about you and DD13. You had posted about some Scottish cookies you had made and you would be delivery them to everyone here!
Well, being Scots also I knew I had to have some and the recipe. When you arrived I really scarfed on them, but to my surprise
they were really Swedish cookies.
They sure were good though. Thank you very much!
I am hoping for a call from Costco today that my new glasses are in. 3 weeks without glasses has been murder. Distance I have no problem now with the cataracts gone. I am soooo ready.
Hope you all have a great weekend.

Re: FRIDAY FANS
Stopping to regroup and snuggle with LO.
Had to made room for new door to lean against the wall in the house so DH could get it unloaded from pickup. Hopefully this door project can be completed in the next week or so. We are sooooo slow getting things done because we work on them in bits and pieces of time between doing other stuff.
DNeice had her 2 week old baby at 4th July celebration. She was born 5 weeks premature but weighs 5 lbs now. She is such a tiny little baby that she can't be held like a "normal" size baby. Brought back memories of LO as a baby. OH how quickly children grow and change! Yesterday I bought LO new shoes....I had to take him to the adult shoes because his feet are too big for youth shoes.

Re: FRIDAY FANS
Morning Ya'll...
Twins...I thought of you when I put the news on this morning. I still have family just outside of Knoxville and am wondering how they did. My son will be going back there with his dad sometime this week and I am sure he will tell me if something is wrong. I lived in K-town for many years and still think of it as my home away from home.
Had to laugh at Harriet's comment about Mac. I was thinking the same thing. I was up early this morning and redid my coffee/reading thing again. Read a bit more than the time I had allotted myself, but you know how that goes when you're reading a good book. I usually read at night, but find myself falling asleep...not the usual for me...so I am getting up earlier instead of staying up late.
Its a piddling day for me. I picked up my footsteps and still have a clean house. I may end up going to a shopping area....where Norma goes to C osco's...but will wait till after lunch. I didn't like the pin board that I ordered..it wasn't as big as I thought. Sweetie and I were at home depot yesterday and found something the will work much better. Just hope I can fit it into my suv.
Ya'll have a good day and try to stay out of the heat. I have the a/c and fans going so guess its a Friday fan day for me.

Re: FRIDAY FANS
Done:
x WW - up 2.6 as I had suspected. It could have been worse, I guess. I hadn't weighed in for 6/7 weeks, and during that time, I went to Hawaii, went to my parents for the anniversary party, held a graduation party, had a holiday - the 4th, participated in many other end of the year social gatherings. . .
x bank
x dd14 to oboe lesson
x blood draw; took 2 pokes.
x picked up dd14
x home for 5 minutes, then took dd16 and friend to friend's house for a youth group leadership team meeting; somehow, dd16 has become the organizer of this group. Youth pastor runs the meetings.
x went to another friend's home in the country to pick up rocks for activity for graduating srs. I personally don't think the Srs. will get into this activity but others on the planning committee did. . . .
x Trader Joes for salmon for dh to cook next week, per his request
x pet store for hay for g. pigs
x home for 10 minutes; put away everything and responded to an email from dh
x picked up dd16 and friend
x home for 20 minutes; made a phone call and filled out paperwork for dd14 to be registered to take this drug (for acne)
x went w/ dd14 to the derm. office to drop off paperwork
x home 20 minutes ago! Called in her ssn, which I didn't have on me. Then, dd14 and I tried unsuccessfully to cool down the hens with a mist sprayer and then with ice. The mist caused them to panic so much that it was probably counter productive. Dd14 did take GREAT pleasure in luring each hen over to the side of the fence and hitting her with the spray, though. . .
Next:
-start a lol
- go get 1000 chicken nuggets for the first meal for the VBS kids (inner city Detroit youth group missions trip; I'm doing lunch the first day, the Monday after I return.)
- RELAX!
There is still plenty to do this evening:
- make a lasagne casserole and freeze it - to bring and share on our trip
- wash the rocks I collected today
-fill out paperwork for UM field hockey camp which dd14 is going to next week while I'm away
- write out some semblance of a schedule for the girls for dh to have next week; I'm hoping he'll be flexible with his work so he can take them places as needed.
- pay bills
-last bit of laundry
-PACKl
That should make this a full day. *phew*

Re: FRIDAY FANS
Whew -- we could use fans here, too! I walked one mile, but I decided @ 100 degrees, that was PLENTY. DS ran a mile, and I guess I was determined to keep up with him. No one around here has much sleep and we are all tired & grumpy.
We had a big storm last night -- tornado? microburst? straight line winds? No one knows for certain, but there was a lot of damage between our house & dson's house. Fortunately, neither of us had any damage. However, ds's power was out until sometime this morning... so around 5:00 a.m., they gave up and came to our house. Our power had been out a couple of hours, right after the storm, but it came back on fairly soon. This morning, he woke us up to ask if we wanted something from Hardee's, so of course I did... and we spent the rest of the morning watching dgbaby sleep.
Unfortunately... the weather report says more of the same is likely this afternoon. * sigh * I really feel for those who have had damage to property -- no injuries, as far as I know... but if it starts up again tonight, there will be some really nervous people around here.
I need to s2s.
Oh -- I really admire Harriet's watermelon illustration -- and wanted to sympathize with Harmony, also! I have btdt, too... quite an experience. One NO ONE wants to relive, that's for sure.

Re: FRIDAY FANS
Back from my morning errand did that then took my journal & devo. to a coffee shop it was a nice change but detracts me from reading so will keep that in mind for future reference. I walked in a diff. place it was nice to see the flowers and have a change in scenery by the river with a nice breeze.
I still need to get to the dishes and kit. stuff.
It's 87* out now & cooler than they said it would be so far glad about that.
